  1. This is great to hear Ray. It gives me hope that Louie will someday accept me as his friend. On a good note he calls me Janet. He is fun to watch and seems comfortable in the birdroom, so all is well. I'll bet Cricket is as full of energy and life as my Louie. Zons are much little characters, I love Louie to death so I know how you feel about sweet Cricket!!!!
  2. I also have real Christmas trees in my home. The fids also leave it alone as it has always been a no no for them.
  3. I love orange juice and so does my pet moose who always chases my grey goose who loves to spit in our juice!!! Cherry
  4. Beauty is in the eyes of the beholder so I'll take the second!!! Would you rather be 15 years old or 89 years old for the rest of your life?
  5. What irks me most are telephone calls before 10:00 am in the morning!
  6. Deciding rather to clean parrot cages or my house; but perhaps they are the same thing!!!!!
  7. Do you think your parrot is smarter than you?
  8. Yes please and update on Nilah!!!!! Hope she is fine!!!!!
  9. He certainly is a fine looking grey. I can't wait to hear more about him and hear what you decide to call him.
  10. Great looking stand!!!!! And Babalu is a nice looking dancer as well!!!!
  11. I have large collapsible travel cages from http://www.thecountryroost.com/catalog/product_info.php?cPath=28_29&products_id=98 which fit my male eclectus and my male amazon, no problem. I also use them when I visit my daughter for the weekend and take the birds.
  12. Then welcome Lucy to the Forum Family!!!!
  13. Great pictures. Have you decided to call her Lucy? Frankly I think that's a great name for your little lady especially since it is the one you first came up with!!!!!
  14. If you can get your birds into the sunlight, yes it is much better.
  15. Waiting patiently for pictures of your sweet baby. In the one you did post, she is awfully beautiful!
  16. I like your new plan and I agree with Judy you need to travel cages just in case. Of course, in an emergency you can always pop one or the other of your fids into a pillow case, if you don't have two travel cages, but I would prefer two travel cages, I have three.
  17. I struggle with this question all the time. My Ana Grey is my baby and she trusts me, but I see her looking out the window all the time and I know in my heart how much she wants to fly outside. Just last week I went to get the mail and when I came back inside she was sitting not 12 inches from the patio door as I opened the door to come inside. My heart skipped a beat as I slowly closed the door and thanked God she had not up and darted out the door. She is fast and she is a very skilled flyer and in one second I could have lost my baby in the blink of an eye. I have Ana Grey chipped but it would mean that the person who finds her must be of a kind heart and take her to a vet to have her checked for a chip. So I know your fear but I also know that Ana Grey loves to fly, it is part of her and I can't take that away from her. I can't cripple my independent and fearless grey because of my fears.
  18. Very nice update on Simon. It sounds like he is now part of the family!!!
  19. Congratulations Nemo!!!!!! They do start talking at their own rate, nothing we can do about it. Some days Ana Grey hardly says a word and some days I can't shut her up!!!!! They have a mind of their own!!!!
  20. Its wonderful that you and Sadie have found each other. I am delighted for you both!!
  21. Ana Grey loves to eat with me, in fact, she eats best when she is eating off of my plate or from my glass. I always put some food to the side of my plate that is hers. As for my drinks she drinks from one side I from the other. She enjoys eating from my fork or spoon little stinker!
  22. Oh so sorry for Nilah's owiee, I'm glad to hear she is doing A-Okay. I hope your son is alright, it must have been very traumatic for him, he was caught in a hard place wanting to do what was right. Thank goodness Mom was around to save the day.
  23. My parrots have their own bird room and so they go to bed every night at 7:00 pm. Actually my ekkie insists, if the lights aren't out by 7:00 pm he screams until the lights go out. Everyone is in their cages by 7:00 pm or the wrath of Sully rains down on all of them. I don't cover their cages as I believe birds need fresh and circulating air.
  24. I have a plucker, a re-homed older male eclectus. He has finally stopped plucking I believe. It took a change of diet and finding what relaxed him. When I brought him home I placed him in a larger cage which he always climbed out of first chance he got, to go into his much smaller travel cage. I got him a smaller parrot cage and he now stays put. I had him in front of a window in the beginning and he always got out and moved to his travel cage. So I moved him to a corner of the room, he stays put now. He feels much safer and is much calmer in the corner. I believe once you find out that the plucking is not physical or a diet problem, then it must be mental so that is what I worked on; finding what makes Sully happy. I spray him a lot with Aloe Vera Juice (thanks Dave) and see that his atmosphere is calm and his diet is more appropriate for a parrot and so after 1 1/2 years Sully has stopped plucking, I am pleased!!!
