  5. Well done for recognising that you need the advise of a vet. I dont know what the problem is but am guessing at an infection. Please let us know the outcome.
  6. Congratulations David. I wish you every success with Shanti.
  7. Chloe looks really happy and full of adventure, brilliant photo.
  8. As far as I am concerned, I like any of my pets to do things because they want to.Not because it is the only way to recieve what is there right, food, water, afection and attention. I have never deprived any of my animals, in the past I have had cats, dogs ,horses, rabbits, and all have trusted me to provide all they need, when they need it .I think the concept of making any animal earn lifes sustinance is horrible.Ok, I see no wrong in holding back a favourite treet untill you have a training session and using it as a reward but food and water, no way.My Horses used to compete with me at cross country and show jumping as well as ridden hunter classes and I schooled them myself purely by reward and repetition.I use exactly the same method with my birds. Ok they will never do displays or such but they are in my eyes very well behaved pets. yes I get the odd thing chewed up or damaged but they are parrots and thats what they do.It is my fault for leaving things in the way of beaks. What I am trying to say is that much more is gained by trust and kindness and patiance than horrible methods advised by two people who it is clear are only out for themselves. I unsubscribed from the emails long long ago and I advise anyone to do the same. Dont waste your money or loose your parrots trust. I do set ground rules for the birds but they are rewarded for sticking to the rules, not punished in anyway for straying from them. This has alway worked for me.<br><br>Post edited by: she, at: 2008/12/20 19:37

  10. Dave, you have done it again, I am in stitches laughing.
  11. Laptops, mobile phones and tv remotes are just evil and must be killed acording to the world of greys. Yes I give Charlie fresh food every day sometimes I think he eats better than me.
  12. I would always recomend some sort of quarantine. What situation is your new bird coming from? A vet visit soon after your new bird comes home may ease some concerns. A chat with your vet is a very good idea.
  13. Its a must, Come on Judy.
  14. I was up early and got some shoping for my mum and Dad. went and had a look at a java tree for Charlie but it was too large. I then had lunch with my Niece which was lovely.I then ordered a stand for Charlie from Northern Parrots. I should be getting stuck into some cleaning but as it is now 7 pm I will leave it till tomorrow. I am having a cup of coffee and relaxing. Keep safe and warm everyone, I hope the snow is not too disruptive for you all.
  15. Well I have been looking at parrot stands for the last few days and Charlie is now the proud owner of a parrot tower from northern Parrots. I went to see a Java tree which was a good price but was much too large for my living room. So I came home and looked again at the ones from Northern Parrots, took a very deep breath and ordered an Amazon Junior delux. It is suitable for amazons and greys. It is a bit smaller so I should be able to fit it in, just. It should arrive before Christmas. The only problem I have now is convincing Charlie it is a great place to hang out on. The stand has Java wood perches and hooks for toys and two feed dishes. Has any one any advice on how I can get Charlie to love it.He is a right wuzz and hates anything new. I will post some photos when it comes and when I can get Charlie to play on it.
  16. Jen they are adorable.Keep the pics and updates coming.
  17. I love Charlie simply because he is his own little person with funny little habbits, likes and dislikes. He is always there and ready to play or just chat away to me or himself. He is very sensitive and picks up on my mood and seems to respond to it. He is a fantastic companion and I just love him to bits.
  18. Margie, Izzy looks gorgious.I am so pleased she is coming on well.
  19. Charlie dips his pellets in his water, it is normal.
  20. I am glad Sammy is enjoying the sunshine.Keep us informed and I would love to see pictures if you can.
  21. Erika, I cant imagine what it must be like to have so much snow. We hardly ever get any at all. Keep warm and safe. :woohoo: I have finished work untill Jan 5. I am really looking forward to the rest. Shift work is exhausting.<br><br>Post edited by: she, at: 2008/12/18 22:26
