1. Well Charlie is sitting with me in them conservatory on his new parrot tower. He is still not to sure of it but at least he is on it. I have had it in the living room and persuaded him on to it with some toast this morning. I will post some pictures as soon as I get more time.

Zeus - Update

I dont see a problen in using the smaller cage for now. Infact I have read in a few books that baby greys are better in a smaller cage to start with. This is then often used as a sleep cage when they progress to the full size one. That saying, all cages must be large enough for the bird to stretch the wings out fully and be large enough to acomodate the bird as well as toys and feed dishes. I also would chase up the new cage.
4. Charlie always has pellets available as well as fresh clean water. In the morning he has veg and later in the afternoon he has his fruit.Sometimes inplace of the veg he will have scrambled egg or a rice, bean and veg mix. He has a taste of what I am eating during the day as well as a few nuts, almonds, wallnuts now and again peanuts, not in shell. He loves fish and chicken which he has when I am eating it.
5. Charlies new parrot tower came today. I was so excited and could not wait to set it up. Well 2 hours later Sheila is still setting it up and Charlie is sitting in his cage refusing to come out, looking at it as if its a big green monster.Sheila then gives up and put the bits and pieces that are causing problens in the car and heads off to the local diy store. Much to the amusement and general hilarity of the lads working there. I fluttered my eye lashes and persuaded one of the lads to show me where I was going wrong.I left the shop amidst lots of laughter and calls of lets see your bird love. I did not care I had one parrot tower well and truly sorted. Was charlie impressed, not a chance, He has only just decided it is safe to eat his dinner and venture out the cage, keeping one eye on the green monster in the window. Cracker likes it though. He sat on it and christned it with bird poop.

Post edited by: she, at: 2008/12/23 22:30
6. That photo is priceless.I wish I had an irobot Charlie makes sure I am always vacuming. I think an Irobot is the perfect gift for all parrot owners.
7. Hi Deb and Jasper.I bet Jasper will be singing some songs from high school musical if the kids have any say in it.Look forward to hearing more from you.
8. Charlie will say very little infront of others. He will be quiet or repeat one sentance, usually hello their how are you. He can say so much it is quite frustrating when he acts like he cant talk. If friends and I are laughing he will always join in with his manic laugh and have us in pleats, he laughs at exactly the right time, even if a comedy is on tv. I swear he understands every word.
9. Welcome Jill and Oliver. He is a fine looking bird.I hope to hear more about him.
10. Welcome , I hope you find all the advise you wish for right hear. If not just ask. I bet you are so excited to be getting your grey next month. My grey is called Charlie aswell.
11. Merry christmas Dave to you and all your loved ones. Have a great time.
12. I hope everyone has a fantastic Christmas and New Year and can I thank everyone for the time they have put in helping others with their birds over the last year. I know it has made a lot of diference to the birds lives and that of the owners. Heres to a great new year. sheila, Charlie and Cracker Post edited by: she, at: 2008/12/22 20:24

Post edited by: she, at: 2008/12/22 20:30
13. You are right Christina, most people just dont understand our love for parrots, thats there loss. Good job we have a group of parrot mad people hear to sound off to.
14. It is a hard decision to make. I dont like the idea of clipping but I do realise it is sometimes unavoidable, my tiel was clipped a few months ago because he kept flying to my grey and was in danger of ending up bitten or killed. I dont have the grey clipped .Like you I found my tiel has become a lot more friendly and well behaved. He can still fly very well but it has just slowed him down a bit.

Sunshine

It would make no difference putting him in front of a window. The benefits come from exposure to daylight and sun only directly, not through closed windows.I have an outside aviery where Charlie can go on nice days, When the weather is better try putting his cage in the garden for a bit, making sure he is not in the full glare of the sun.
16. The replacement stand is coming tomorrow, they sent it out next day delivery. You are right Northern parrots are expensive, but if it is for a parrot everything is.
17. Thanks for showing us all the photos. They are great.
18. I got Charlie a parrot tower from Northern parrots, it came today but was the wrong one so is on its way back. I looked at the java tree and it was too large for my room.

Injury

Hi sorry about indies fall. Please get this checked by a vet. the last thing you need is to trying to find a vet open over the holidays and be charged a fortune for an out of hours visit. It could be a bruise, but needs checking out.
20. Oh yes,I understand. Charlie my grey is not the most friendly of birds to everyone. My mum who is 82 decided against my advise to put a finger in his cage, she got bit, not bad but enough to give her a shock. I just said well I did tell you. Mum did relent and realised it was her fault but I now make sure The birds are well out of harms way if I have visitors who are not parrot savvy or wont do as I say and leave them alone.
21. I am sorry things did not work .I think you have thought things through and come to the best decision for you and Tango.I see someone has already responded to your post and I hope it works out. Good luck and let us know the outcome.
22. Hi Jenny. I just love your pvc tree and Dexter is gorgious.well done for doing it all on your own,I sent you karma aswell, you deserve it.
23. Colliz you are so right, it is confusing, so many of our greys are called Charlie, it confuses me anyway. So Lex just a tip dont call either of you birds Charlie PLEASE.
24. I was just aboen I have read about to have a moan about a few things that have gone wrong but when I have read about all you people who dont even have power, I feel very fortunate. I hope you get the power on soon. Well, I went out this morning, lucky I was not too long,Charlie met me at the front door, he had got out of his cage,I dont think I had locked it securely. I was so lucky that he never injured himself and ev en more lucky that he had not done any damage in the house. I have given myself a good slap for being so careless. The new stand I ordered for Charlie arrived just before and guess what, it was the wrong one. I would not have minded had it been a better one but it was one with plastic perches, so I phoned them and they are picking it up and sending the right one tomorrow.I HOPE. I have just put a hugh casserole in the oven so I can have that later and freeze some for when I am back at work. yum yum. I hope everyone is not too stressed doing the last bits for christmas. I am all sorted, I think. Have a great day everyone

Post edited by: she, at: 2008/12/22 15:36
