1. Thats a great pic. You have come so far , Tango is loving the attention and you look so proud of him.
2. Welcome Tammy and Jim Bob. I look forward to hearing more from you.
3. Hi Chris. I am sure you will love it hear.
4. I would say it is some sort of scent marking or a bit of insecurity with the move.Ensure the dogs know where to go, yes it may be like house training again but I am sure it will sort itsself out.
5. Charlie will do the hide and seek game. If I miss him for a second , no way will he answer or make his self known. He will stay so still and quiet till I spot him. The tiel always shouts where are you and gives him self away.

Pet Sitting

I would choose the vets over a pet shop. The vet environment is more controled with regards to disease transmision and emergency. The ideal would be someone who knows the bird and you to live in while you are away. If this is not an option the vets is next best.
7. Sorry Dopple I did not realise you were in the uk.You should be able to contact a vet via your own avian vets emergency cover.Even if this vet is not an avian vet they will be able to give you emergency help untill tomorrow, Providing Leo with vet support in a surgery untill he can be taken to an avian vet.He may be given antibiotics and incubation and tube feeding for support untill your avian vet can see him.I feel he eeds to get this support now.
8. Tonka is beautiful. Love the name. Malibu looks great and looks like he is not letting his brocoli get droped for the puppy to eat
9. I am so glad Dayo is recovering. He is one lucky bird. Kim I am so happy you are home from the hospital.
10. If you can not get him to a vet till tomorrow, keep him warm and quiet.make sure his food and water is easy accesable to him. I would be trying to find a vet today. I know it is Sunday but does your vet have an out of hours service? Thanks for the vet contact number Lisa. I am in the uk so could not provide one

Post edited by: she, at: 2009/01/11 17:59
11. I have Charlie and Cracker insured with Exotics Direct and have found them very good. I have had a lot of money, almost £1000 payed back to me over the last 2 years what with Crackers Metal poisoning and Charlies injured wing. I would have been at a loss without insurance and urge anyone to take it out. I realise it is an expense but it only takes one problem for the vet bills to mount up. For the 2 birds it costs me about £15 a month which I concider well spent.
12. Well done you. Give yourself a pat on the back
13. Great to hear from you Kim.Hope your recovery continues the right way.
14. I would not worry about your grey not liking the floor. As has been said a lot of hazards are at floor level.
15. Please take Leo to the vets .I really think he is sick.Prompt action is needed.
16. Hi. Yes Liverpool is now a place worth a visit. We have some of the most amazing buildings and History. I am going to see the Titanic exhibition at the maritime museum at the Albert dock, that has always fasinated me.I am not a fan of the Beatles, non of them ever gave anything back to the City and left as soon as they could.Well I am saying that but Paul Macartney did found Lipa, Liverpool institute for performing arts and we have an amazing Linda McCartney breast cancer centre which offers a great service. The problem with the regeneration is that it is all concentrated in the city centre and water front and the suburbs are being left out.I hope that what has been started over the last few years continues and spreads to other parts of the City.

Post edited by: she, at: 2009/01/11 12:49
17. Hi Louise.Congratulations on re homing Casper. I too think time out of the cage would do the bird good. Will he take treats from your hands? this is the first way to gain his trust apart from talking to him and looking after him. It is going to take a long time for him to adapt from a pet shop to a home environment.Take it slow with him and let him show you when he is ready to move to the next stage. Does he have a favourite treat? this can be used to tempt him back in his cage. Was he handled in the pet shop? if so how much. More questions than answeres I know but it is a case of take it as it comes and accept Casper may take a while to trust.
18. I agree fully Carolyn. Many internet sites and books give conflicting advise.I would always consult my vet on any issues I am unsure of.I must add that my vet and the vet nurses are always very willing to give diet advise along with answering any other questions over the phone so long as no medical issues are present when they suggest a visit. I think most vets are like this.
19. Liverpool has had more bad press than I can mention and I must say some of it has been deserved. Hear I want to mention something great that has happened in my home city. Liverpool was given the honour of being European Capital of Culture 2008.I must admit I was sceptical. My first reaction was one of dis belief. I thought it would fail miserabley and be just one more disaster.I am glad to say I was wrong. It all started with an opening at St Georges Hall which is an amazing building and I have been privalaged to see inside it when the unbelievable Minton tiled floor was uncovered for the first time in many years and opened to the public for viewing.Over the last twelve months Liverpool has been host to countless events and many new opertunities for youngsters. Schools have been very involved in the Capital of culture project and the kids have embraced it fully. The Pier head (the river mersey water front)has undergone a major regeneration and is unrecognisable.A new stretch of canal has been built linking Leeds and Liverpool, this is the first stage of this development.A new arena has opened and is brilliant. It is encoraging major bands and events to come to the city. A massive shopping complex has opened in the city called Liverpool one and has many major fashion names and stores.I have only been there once and was mesmerised. Also a new museum has been built. Not seen that yet but I will .Also one of the many events was called Le Machine. This comprised of the most amazing hugh machanical spider moving through the city. We also has over 100 superlambananas pl;aced all over the city, that was a big hit with kids travelling everywhere to try and see them all, they were then auctioned off on the steps of st Georges hall for charity. The events that have taken place are too many to mention but for me the most important was the way schools got involved. Oh I must mention the Liverpool Nativity. This was a modern take on the nativity taking place in Liverpool. There has just been a closing ceramony at the pier head with thousands taking part in a massive sing along to Beatles records and The Farms all together now, then a massive fire work display which I could hear from my house. The three graces, the liver buildings and the neighbouring two magnificent buildings were all lit up and from what I have seen it was fantastic.Sorry If I have rambled on but I am so pleased to see a positive side to Liverpool.
20. I would have him checked out by a vet. Closing the eyes like that can be a sign of illness, that and him being a bit listless in my book warrants a vet visit,I would do this asap , if only for piece of mind..
21. Great pics. Eddie is gorgious.I love the ones with your daughter.
22. Thanks for the link Erica. I have read it before but as you say an interesting read.
