I am so happy that you are re evaluating your decision. Greys are not easy to keep but they are so rewarding that you can forget the hard parts. I know that you are really sole searching and I congratulate you for that. I am confident you will come to the right choices for your self and Tango.

I think that Irish toast calls for a nice guinness.

Penny I am glad all went well at the vets,Rikki was very well behaved. Charlie kicks up a right fuss when he is toweled.Thy really are safer without a band though , Charlies will be removed when the opertunity comes up.

Jen, I am sorry you had a harrowing christmas.I hope your boyfriend is not in too much pain.Hope your new year goes better. I have just got back from shopping, only needed a few bits but yesterday I bought a new hi fi and decided I did not really need it and I had over spent so took it back today, good job I never opened it. It is really cold today but the house is nice and warm so the birds are due a bath.

Congratulations, the wait is over. You have a very beautiful grey. Let him settle down a bit before expecting anything from him, he is still very strange in his new cage a new home and with new people.

I love the photos. Hootie looks well.

You are doing a fantastic job with Roswell. Her previous owners would be pleased. You are doing all you can to find her past home and that is brilliant. I take it there are no microchips or bands on the bird. good luck with Roswell,I am sure you are already very attached.

I love the pictures. Its not too hard once you know how, and well worth the effort.

Jessica Dan is right you should not have been put in the situation you were.Do the people know the outcome of the surgery. Was it your own vet who performed it or the nurserys vet. I know you must be so upset but you need to talk to them about a replacement bird.Talk to them and keep us all informed.

Oh your poor Mum. I am not surprised if she is a little hesitant with Ash. I would consider ,for now leaving him in the cage if you are out. Two years ago I went on holiday and left my Dad in charge of Charlie. I could forsee my Dad having problems with his so for a few months before I went I trained charlie to go in his cage on command. I must admit it was made easier as I was minding another grey who already did this and Charlie soon picked it up. I used a treat and said in the cage while coaxing him to a perch with the treat. Could this be an option for you? Karma to your Mum for being so brave. Charlie does not like me placing my hand over his back, I think he feels threateded and I suspect Ash may be the same.

Post edited by: she, at: 2008/12/28 21:42

I can not comment on your personal situation, I dont know you and cant judge. What I can say is that my cousin has had his grey over 40 years through marrage, children and has had many hard times The bird has been a constant companion and I am sure a hugh help in getting through tough times. I see no reason why your grey cant stay with you through thick and thin. As I said I cant judge your situation but please dont be too hastey. If it is a case that you no longer wish to give your grey a home and commitment then rehome, but ensure it is a good home . Many people have life changing things happening, but your situation is one that surely you could predict happening when you took on a grey,it can be easily handled.

Post edited by: she, at: 2008/12/28 21:26

I am having a fantastic day, DOING NOTHING. I am just happy to sit in front of the tv with the heating on and relaxing. It has been a hectic few days. I hope everyone had a nice Christmas and looking forward to the New year. Judy We have no snow, infact Christmas day was quite mild. Today is cold but sunny.

Charlie has a split stainless steel band,at the moment he does not bother with it and I do check it often.I did ask my vet about removal and he said it was a good fit and saw no imediate reason. He did say that if for any reason Charlie needed it removed he would do so or if he needed an anasthetic for any reason he would do it then. I have Charlie microchipped aswell so will probabley have the ring removed when the oportunity presents .

Post edited by: she, at: 2008/12/27 14:15

I have had a busy but very enjoyable Christmas eve and Christmas day. I am stuffed full to bursting and am going this afternoon and this evening for yet another round of eating and drinking. I have not been drinking over the christmas as I have been the taxi service.ferrying everyone round. I will be having a few drinks later though. Charlie is sitting with me on his new stand and I am about to get ready to and eat again.HELP PLEASE. I am sure I wont get into any of my clothes after this lot. I only need to smell food to put weight on. Oh well, heres to bigger clothes.

Hi The decision to clip is purely your choice. I have my tiel clipped for safety reasons but not the grey. If it is a case of safety and security I would go ahead. I dont think the issue of trying to fly after the clip will be a big one.Greys are very smart and Larry will soon figure out he is clipped again. It is purely a matter of your choice. I will say however, make sure he is clipped by a qualified vet as many birds end up with poor clips and have problems relating to them.
