    THANK YOU

I just want to thank Dave and Judy for helping me tonight.Cracker decided to take on a brick wall and came off worse. The vet has now rang and thinks it safer not to transport him,he is too shocked and may have concusion and bruising.I have been told to cover him up and check every 15 mins and rush him in if he goes worse. It is an emergency vet and she has no proper hospital facility for birds and also she said she has a very obnoxious dog in which was barking like mad,so cause more stress. So its down to me to keep him warm and quiet and hope for the best.I will phone Alan Humphries my own vet tomorrow and see what he recons Cracker is perching but very still and not made a sound since it happened. Thanks again Dave and Judy, I will keep you informed.
  2. I love the videos Carol.Your breeder sounds great.Well done you for finding her.
  3. Hi and welcome.Thank you for telling us all about your flock.Hope you enjoy the forum.
  4. Beautiful photo. I adore the names Scarlett and Rainbow. Perfect names for such colourful parrots.
  5. I am so happy for you.I dont think the step up well be too much of a problem,he sounds a very sweet grey.My charlie does that missile sound, I call it his space invader noise.Take things slow and he will be fine.
  6. Pat, Shady must be a girl if she is that smart.
  7. Judy my vet sells it for the same price as it is on line,I changed charlie on to it about a month after I got him and he took to it no problem at all.
  8. You have my sympathy. Those high pitch noises can really go through you, especially with migrain.Just do your best to ignore the noises and praise Dorian when making nice sounds. Hope you feel better soon.
  9. I get my Harrisons on line, but my vet has it aswell. I really noticed Charlie came on so well on it. My vet recomends it above other pellets.I found Charlie took to it very well.
  10. Shady is too sweet for words.I adore that picture. Why would he not smile, he has bagged him/her self the perfect mum.
  11. Thanks for the story Sarah. You are a bird person alright.I am looking forward to hearing how Gilbert comes on in his new home.I am sure he will flurish with your care and attention.Keep us all informed.
  12. Sorry to hear this Carol.Sometimes gut reaction is the best.My tiel came to me very young and at the time I was told he was weaned,he was not.I had no experian ce of hand feeding and what followed was 3-4 very traumatic weeks.Thank God all turned out well for Cracker and he is now a very lively 2 year old.I would agree with you being unsure about feeding,I feel its best left to experts.I am sure you will find another grey soon.
  13. This sounds good. When you first meet him dont force yourself on him. Let him come to you if he wishes. He may not, greys can be suspicious of strangers.Just let him see you and talk to him in a soft voice.Ask about his diet and vet records, his temprement, does he like or hate anything.Hope all goes well.He is a nice grey.
  14. I always stick to natural foods, veg, fruit, whole grain cerials. I dont feed the dried fruits as the ones my supermarket sells have preservatives and colourings in. I never give anything with added salt or sugar.I do feed some organic seeds as a treat.
  15. You are right I should try,Better get the bandages ready for my hands first though.
  16. Janet, when I first got the aviery Charlie was petrified.I dont think he had ever been outside before.Everything is new, wind, noise, smells, other birds. He is now ok but likes it best if I am in the garden to reasure him.He is a big wuzz. Anna Grey at least lets you put the harness on, Charlie would have a fit if I even tried.
  17. Charlie is microchipped.I feel its my best chance of his return should the unthinkable ever happen.Atleast it is conclusive in proving ownership.Prevention is always better than cure though and all precautions must be taken to keep your bird safe.
  18. Erica, Baxter as always looks fantastic. I wish Charlie would accept a harness,I know I have no chance.
  19. I am so sorry.I know you loved Alex from your posts and I am shocked.I hope you will soon be feeling a bit better,God bless Sheila
  20. Paco is gorgious.Glad you all got home ok.

    Update on Mum

Thanks Judy.It is all down to Marina and Kenny Dalglish and their tireless fund raising. People call the Nhs but The treatment mum is getting is second to none.
  22. At a guess I would say it is due to the flight stress.Your vet did not seem too worried so I would be guided by his reaction.Maybe if you are still woried in a few months or you notice something wrong you could have more blood work done but I would not be too concerned.
  23. I agree totally with the artical.I have long thought that some of the problems grey exhibit are as a result of hand feeding and them not developing as a wild grey would.Blue my cousins grey is wild caught and never had any behavioural problems.Mind you on saying that my own grey hasnt and I believe him to be hand reared. My grey is far more nervious and insecure than Blue.Interestingly Blue has always been fed a primarily seed diet.Charlie pellets.Jane touched on this in her artical.I would love to learn more about grey development and behavior,it faciates me.
