This corn on the cob is almost as big as little Cracker but being such a determined bird he has a good go at eating it any way.

Post edited by: she, at: 2009/04/14 17:40
I am glad Jacko enjoyed his outing.I have an out side aviery and I am very cautious about it. I have never as yet left Charlie out side while I am at work or for that matter Cracker. My neighbours are fantastic but I think the security risk is high. Charlie would never accept a harness. They both love going in the carrier to the aviery and spending time out side though.I believe it is so healthy for them.
I think it is Shantis way of telling you its time for bed.My cousins grey has a squark that he only does at night night time, thats the signal for cover me up.Charlie will go quiet and mumble to him self but if I am not paying atention and it goes past bed time he will get excited and do the wall of death round his cage, that is when he climes round in a circle and shouts.

Post edited by: she, at: 2009/04/14 16:35
Hi John. I know very little about breeding but Dan has given you some sound information. My grey is about 6 years old and I only just now view him as mature.I look forward to hearing more about your grey.
Hi and welcome.
Twenty years with Nelson must have given you many many good memories, not to mention all those years experiance you can share with us hear.I am sure Sam will be one lucky bird being taken in to such an experianced loving home.
Hi and welcome. I am sure you and Harrison will benefit from this site,it is a fantastic place for information, help, guidance and friendship. If you have any photos of Harrison please post them we would all love to see him.I hope the time goes quickly for you.
I hope all goes well at the vets. Please let us know how you get on.I am wondering if he has an infection that never quite cleared up last time but only the vet can say for sure.Good luck
Sounds like a great deal on the cage and that was really good of your vet.I love speding money, especially on the birds, way too much.Shady will love the cage I am sure.
I am sure it will help with bonding and is packed with nutriants. Why not use this to to tempt him to eat some healthy food.Let him see the baby try fruit and veg and he may well wish to try that as well.
Yes I read your other post and realise that. I think the breeder has clipped too much and the flights are iritating her causing the chewing.Try and distract as much as you can.Give a phone book to chew up,anything to keep her beak busy and off the feathers.Do not give any attention at all when she picks at the feathers and praise her when she is chewing a more apropriate object. Shower her often, aloe vera juice is recomended,it adds moisture to the skin.
I would put a rug or some sort of cushioning round the cage.It sounds like she has been clipped too much. I have also just noticed you have posted about chewing flight feathers. Sounds like thats the problem. Let the flights grow back fully and if you do decide to clip again after that, make sure a vet does it.
I am glad things are better. Greys go through moods, just like people. My grey steps up for me everywhere except from in side his cage.I do sometimes insist but I am happy letting him come out on his own,it saves a battle.
