I am not a fan of collars on birds, most just cant accept them.I know some vets do prescribe drugs in extreme cases,I am also a bit two sided on this approach.I hope all goes well at the vets. Please keep us up to date.
Hi and welcome. The new cage and natural branches sound much better. How lucky are you to have 3 weeks off work getting to know Pinky.Hope you enjoy the time together, let us all know how things go.
Charlie goes into his cage when he is ready for bed.I have thought of taking him to my room to sleep on a stand but decided he likes his cage of a night and no way could I trust him not to get up to trouble.I also feel secure knowing he is safe in his cage.
Poor bird. Please dont be upset that the bird likes male company, just be happy that he/she has found a friend in your Dad after what sounds like a harrowing past.If your Dad can handle the bird and the bird is happy to let him,be content with that.
The birds hav e improved my diet, I eat lots of fruit and veg. When I get an exotic fruit sometimes the shop assistant asks what it tasts like, they are a bit taken back when I answer that I get it for the parrot.
Oh yes, they are expensive.I spend far more on Charlie than I do on myself. One very important cost not mentioned is vet bills. Avian vet dont come cheap.I have insurance to cover the unexpected rush to the vets and am I glad I do.I cant stress enough the need for insurance.
