Great one Davey.Its much more fun to rip wall paper than chew a toy,Charlie much preferes my couch though.

Charlie has a concrete perch but I dont think it keeps his nails trimmed.I am lucky as the last time I was covered in scratches and cuts he let me just trim them with clippers,just the very tips.

Congratulations Pat.I agree you need to have him checked for heavy metal poisoning.It was a horrible thing to see when Cracker got it,he was very very ill.I could see bits of metal in his crop and gizzard on the xrays.You have such a kind heart,Harley could not wish for a better person as his new mum.

He is picking up on your emotions,not a lot you can do really, just keep him entertained with toys and shredding stuff.The loss of a person can be hard on pets aswell.

Dayo is beautiful Dan.Jake got rent in the form of a nut for letting his cage out to Dayo,brilliant.

Debbie thats wonderful.I am so glad Riley and his friend are reunited,You are a great person for allowing that to happen.

I could not call Charlie extrovert,he is a big coward when it comes to new toys and such.What I will say is that he knows what he wants and how to get it.He can be a clown at times,hanging with one foot and shouting and at other times he is very quiet.He is a hand full at times,yes, just like a toddler who needs chasing after all the time.I dont think I could cope with another one like him.I love him to bits though and would not change a thing.

Thanks Dan and Judy.Its a very simple but efective solution.The cat may still hang round but cant harm the birds at all,unless they panic like Cracker did.I feel more at ease with them outside now.

A couple of weeks ago I made a post about a neighbours cat bothering the birds when they are in the aviary.I am glad to report that following the vets advise the aviary now has a double skin of wire about 2 inches apart so little paws cant get close to the birds.I am also glad to say that I have not seen the cat for a while now so he must be entertaining himself elsewhere.All is well in the aviary.

Its been a glorious day,sunny,warm and dry for once.Been in the garden all afternoon.

Thats good news.Charlie loves the Harrisons and he too has little waste.I give him a small amount and add more as it goes during the day to save waste.

Congratulations on your new grey.It will take time for the grey to adjust to his new home and family.Sometimes it can take months.Be ready to just sit and talk and offer treats to him when he comes home.Let him decide how far he wants to take things.Watch his body language and get to know the little signals that tell you to back off.Feed the same diet he is getting now,plenty of time in the future to change feed if you need to,now is not the time.If you have other birds Quarantein is important.Also a vet check as soon as you can is advisabl, especially if he is favouring one leg,he may be in pain.Please let us all know how you get on .<br><br>Post edited by: she, at: 2009/07/25 20:32

I am so glad Gizmo is doing ok,the antibiotics should have her on top form soon.

A baby will bite if it feels scared and threatened,its natural.As for enforcing boundries and rules thats never a bad idea.Watch your greys body language closely and avoid situations where you know he may nip so as not to re enforce the behaviour.

Charlie does almost the same,he imitates the phone ring and then goes Hello.He would shut up though if I put the phone close to him,either that or he would chew the phone.

First off try the local police who may be able to point you in the right direction.Maybe local council who give out permits to pet shops.Try everyone .Good luck.
