  1. I wish I could remember the name and post the video of the member who had one that looked like an upsidedown ballerina hanging from a string tied to a toy. Anyone know what I'm talking about. It was a hoot.
  2. amazing how he could fly throught the door and not crack a wing on the door on the way through.
  3. It might add just that little something your spagetti sauce needed!
  4. I wish Tobie could do that. I'm still hoping. Congratulations.
  5. What amazes me is that Tobie waits until he's out of the cage to do a morning poop and it's huge. But when he's on my shoulder on a hike or on the back of the couch he has a thousand tiny poops.
  6. This is a good question? I need to know when I have to shut the windows. We like the house cool. Anyone live in a cold climate?
  7. I've told this story before, but since everyone here seems to be swear-free I'll share the story again. My husband thought it would be a funny trick to play on me to teach tobie something I wouldn't know about and see my reaction. I leave the radio on for Tobie when I go to work. Frank gets home before me and turns off the radio. Every time he turned off the radio he would say "turn the damn radio off". One day when I turned the radio on Tobie said immediately "turn the damn radio off". In shock, I turned the radio off. I called Frank to see if he had something to do with that because I didn't have a clue where that came from. Some months later I had gotten the "damn" out of the phrase I thought. I was leaving the house and in the bathroom doing my hair and heard "open the door". Tobie was in his cage asking to be allowed out. Of course I was ignoring him because I was getting ready to leave. So Tobie continues -- "open the door" -- "OPEN THE DOOR" -- "OPEN THE DOOR" -- "OPEN THE DAMN DOOR"
  8. Pearllyn-I work in a nursing home. Good for you for making the day special for those wonderful people.
  9. Tobie does that same thing when I put him in the cage for bedtime.
  10. Congratulations Jellybeanz on succeeding with the harness. I do love taking Tobie with me on hikes and for car rides and even though he still doesn't fly, the harness makes me feel safer with him when we go away from home or might be around cars or on mountain cliffs. Pearllyn, I never have seen a grey aviator harness. Tobie's is black. I like the grey one better. It blends into his feathers.
  11. joulesgreyuk - I know what you mean about loving your grey. Sometimes I just am filled with joy over Tobie and just the way he is. He is such a unique individual and his speech and personality make me so thankful to have him as a part of my life. Pearllyn - You said alot about how therapeutic our animals are. I'm not sure what you ment by taking your therapy, but I'll tell you about my last day off. I had discovered a new trail near one of the lakes in Boone. I put Tobie in his harness and took two of my dogs on their leashes and drove out to the lake. Before long I was surrounded by what felt like a wilderness and found myself on a beautiful mountain trail. I let the dogs off the leashes and Tobie was twittering with the wild birs and swishing his tail. The dogs sniffing every little wild animal odor and I was in seventh heaven to be surrounded by the beauty of it all. My joy was amplified by sharing it with my animals.
  12. boy!! truer words were never spoken!
  13. Somehow it helps to hear about other willful moments with other birds. They are just like willful childred aren't they. Boy if we humans think we are special we just need to look at our birds to gain humility.
  14. Emma is such a sweetie pie. These greys are truly the most amazing animals.
  15. I think Tobie is having some issues. He has become willful. Last night he came running (gamboling) across the top of the couch like he does when he feel playful. When he reached my hand he did his "kung foo" impersonation with his head swinging back and forth and proceeded to bite my finger -- hard. I did what I was supposed to do, I guess, and ignored it. He started to run back to the other end of the sectional and then turned back to me and put his head down to be petted, but then he acted like it irritated him and he backed off and ran to the other end of the couch. A little later he came to my end of the couch and plucked my glasses off before I knew it. I retreived the glasses and he snatched them off my face again. I got them away and then we had issues with him trying to chew my pants zipper and my shirt until I had to put him on the T-stand. Today he was back to his sweet little self. Is this kind of what others have seen as the terrible twos syndrome? Is it starting?
  16. Congratulations! Its fun to see just what they will come up with.
  17. Wonderful ending!! Great job you did finding the owner and how wonderful that you thought of the bird sounds from the golf course.
  18. They are so wonderful don't you think!!!
  19. Tobie is also showing signs of the terrible twos. My sympathy!
  20. The bird could have flown quite a distance. I wonder about contacting Vets in other cities surrounding yours. Who are the avian vets around that area? We have a way of finding out on the health forum?
  21. Loved it when Dayo chased Jake off the play stand, then "I'm sorry". Wonderful playstand you have.
  22. Bodily noises only give Tobie more material to work with on his sound effects. Here is a video.
  23. What a great close up. That chicken looks yummy. Tobie loves chicken, eggs, even rib eye steak. I wonder if they get more protein in their diets than we think in the wild.
  24. Tobie also has playstands, T-stand, covers for the back of the couch etc. and is welcolme to poop to his hearts content in these places. When I take him with me in the car for a ride or hike or to visit someone he wears a harness for his safety. He didn't stress out as much over putting the flight suit on as he does over putting on his aviator harness. The aviator harness is more comfortable for him. Thats all.
