Your Gatiep is a cutie. He sure looks like a cuddle bug. Does he still sleep in weird positions now that he is older?
-
For some reason I wasn't able to view the pic through your link... sorry about that!
-
Hee hee- glad to know my Lyric isn't the only little troublemaker out there. I'm sure your family will forgive you one of these days.
-
That is a great picture, just look at those little baby faces! I also like the name Merlin for a boy- I always was a fan of the King Arthur/Excalibur stories. I like both your girl name choices, but it seems Belle is the popular one with everyone else.

How exciting! I hope you do end up with him, it sounds like it was meant to be.... Hope you weren't coming here hoping we would talk you out of it, MBS is contagious, don't you know? Let us know how it goes...

It's wonderful what a difference you can make in a bird's life. I think those before and after pictures show a great improvement in Gizmo. He is a handsome looking fellow. Great job Pat!

Hello Ahmad! I'm glad you've joined the forum. You came to the right place to get good advice and share stories about your grey. I hope you can discover what is ailing him and hopefully he can recover fully.
-
Welcome Nikki, we're glad you've joined us! Your green cheek is bound to be a little jealous as it's no longer the baby of the family. I'm sure given time all will adjust just fine.
-
Hi Marla, welcome to you and the family. I am glad you've joined our little flock! George sounds like a typical grey, of course the world revolves around him and he doesn't want you to forget it. If you don't say hi to him first he must remind you he is in the room.

Happy Halloween! I think Lyric would like to come play with Gryphon and Mika, okay, he's bringing a pumpkin pie! I've thought about getting one of those nets too, but they are so darn expensive. I thought I could probably make one but I have to add it to the bottom of my "to do" list and it's a long one...

They will stay with the parents until they are approx. 3 weeks old, then I will be handfeeding them until they are weaned. It is easier for the parents to care for them when they are so tiny and first starting off.

We have a hatch day party for Lyric every year too. He gets to have one of his favorite meals for dinner but he doesn't get exciting cupcakes or cake (SSHHH- don't tell him he's missing out on something or I'll never live it down.) He gets a new toy (or two or three). Your cupcakes Teko sound cute, post us a picture when you have one ready! I also feed oatmeal from time to time, I use it plain with no sugar or salt, warm it up and sometimes add blueberries or banana or a little cinnamon. I like it myself too!

Welcome to the forum Wingnut. Hope you like it here. Let us know if you have any questions about your new friend.

Hi Sophiesmom and welcome here. I hope you like it as much as we all do!
-
I won't forget about you, believe me! Here is an updated picture taken today. They are now 13 & 11 days old. They are beginning to be able to keep their heads up (albeit quite wobbily) on their own.

Hi Michelle, glad you stumbled upon us and decided to join our little flock. I've had birds for most of my life and still manage to learn new things on this forum all the time! Plus it's a good place to share stories with others that can relate and make friends.

Hello Julie, welcome here. Try not to be too apprehensive about the situation and I'm sure things will work out alright. If you are overly worried, Dante will pick up on this and may become upset himself. Relax and monitor the situation and see what comes from it. It may turn out that Dante is excited to have a new feathered friend. Best of luck to you!

There are a lot of very talented birds on You Tube, I like the videos of Riley the eclectus. I do admit that watching the birds talking makes me a bit jealous that Lyric doesn't utter a word. I keep hoping maybe one day he will, but of course I love him regardless of his lack of speech.

I'm glad to hear things are a bit better for you now. I can relate to being at your wits end from time to time. All of us have challenges with our greys and working through these problems only strengthens your relationship and helps you deal with the next issue. It IS important to keep trying and working the problems out, so many people don't and that's why there are so many unwanted birds out there. Good job.

I think this is fairly common in young greys. My TAG Lyric broke his tail off twice when he was young. He would hang upside down off the top of his cage and just let go and fall. They also tend to be clumsy when young and feathers aren't that hard to break. It will not look that great for a while but eventually the feathers should grow back just fine.

What great news! She's a real beauty. I'm so glad that things are working out for both of you- I'm sure Kiko is happy to have a new home. -
Hi Trevor and Sassy, welcome here. Sounds like things are moving along more smoothly for you and Sassy now that she is settling in and you have learned the "step-up" command. She's training you already isn't she? I bet your mother will be so excited for her Christmas present. Be sure and tell her about this forum so she can join this family as well and keep us all updated on Sassy.

Thanks everyone, I'm really excited about it, I must say! I'll be interested to see how Lyric reacts to the new babies. He was the only chick in his clutch that hatched so he wasn't raised around other birds. I don't expect he'll be too pleased- Sharing my affections with another isn't his strong point. The mother and father are doing just great. They don't seem nervous at all and papa is just keeping so busy eating and feeding both momma and the babies. I don't intrude on them too much but check inside the nest box when she leaves to get a treat maybe about every other day. She was surprisingly much more defensive when they were just eggs, hardly even leaving the box even to get one of her favorite treats. She takes a few more breaks now and seems excited and happy about the whole venture. I really couldn't ask for a better pair. I will update this thread as I have more pictures-it really is quite a miracle watching them grow.

This is a great story and I guess it goes to show that you should never give up hope when a pet is lost. Thank goodness for Chris and his wife and they deserve all the good karma they have coming to them for helping to rescue poor Ajax. I hope his people will be especially careful with him from here on out.

That's so cute, Indi is very pretty and has a great name too. My Tag will get jealous if he throws a toy on the floor and my doxie pup grabs it and starts chewing on it. I tell him if he drops it and the puppy gets it, then it is his. He can't have it back and risk getting the puppy's germs so the puppy gets it. He still always ends up dropping something and guess what? The puppy gets it. Lyric gets so mad about this and you can tell from the look on his face that he doesn't think it is very fair! Woody may take a sudden liking to all his toys from here on out!
