We have another special day in our forum family, my lovely Charlie is 1 year old today! We just wanted to share this special day with you all, lots of treats and birdie time for my boy today. Happy birthday Charlie.{Love-0002011D}

Congratulations on your new bird. How old is your grey? I would imagine it is older than a baby with it talking so much. It sounds like it has really settled in well, look forward to hearing more about it;)

I did research before I got my first grey, but I think you need to speak to owners first hand to appreciate the time and money spent if you look after your bird correctly. Most of my day is taken up with my birds, at least 4 hours out of cage time, which I have to supervise at the moment with the 2 greys. Cleaning out cages, preparing food. Also the problems people may encounter if they are used to a full on social life. All this has to be taken into account. If people think they can buy a grey and they will talk and be happy sat in a cage for most of the day, then its not the pet for them. They are very intelligent and need stimulation, they are very sensitive and loving, they need to build your trust. Caroline;)

I would like to thank you all for making me feel better in myself. I have lost two non bird friends because of this holiday. ( A group of us had booked to go ) and they have made me feel pretty bad! They cannot understand the bond I have with my birds, they are my companions and in my thoughts day and night! When I come on here every day I feel like you are all my good friends because you all understand and love your birds as much as I do. Okay, the big day has nearly arrived! Sunny Ibiza for 2 weeks on Friday! Sorry guys and gals just couldnt do it:( We tried the neighbour coming in to see Charlie since January and it just hasnt worked. He still growls and shakes when she comes in now. I couldnt go away and settle, I would have been worried sick! Call me a big softie, call me mad! Everyone else has ( and have lost a couple of friends because of this as well ) So my hubby is going off with my son and you guys will have me for 2 weeks sipping a cocktail, pretending Im on a sunny beach somewhere. I wish you all lived nearer

Not sure on exact hatch date for Charlie but some time at the beginning of this month, so we will say the 6th June which is my wedding anniversairy:) Keeko is a valentines baby, hatchdate 14th February 08 :kiss:

Hi Di,I thought I had the same problem with mine but they did get used to it. Someone suggested to me to get some sisal rope and add it round the perches, I cant see a picture so dont know what your stand is like, if not you could roughen it up a bit. Wont be long till your baby is with you now!

Think the company I just used was Avianbiotech based at Truro. I will find the details for you. The test cost £14.00. I got the vet to pluck the feathers out as I didnt fancy doing it myself! I got the results within 5 days.

Hi Pchela, No I was told he was fully weaned when I bought him but is not showing much interest in his fruit and veg at the moment but does not want hand feeding either. My other grey eats just about anything thats given to him so will keep you updated on my progress! Would be lovely to compare with them being the same age. You can always pm me to talk. Caroline:)

I like the name Aquila, also Malaika, it is good you have made a list and the names mean something to you as well. Congrats on your baby, I have a 14 week old as well so think are similar age, they are so cute.

That cage looks really trendy but does it not have any bars for climbing which my greys love to do when in their cages? I can just see like mesh on the sides.
