Julie, Im sure there is nothing to worry about. They all have different frames just as people do. I have 2 dna'd males and their frame and weight size are totally different. Keeko is my largest Cag he is also around 510 but he is a large frame. Jasper is tiny compared to him and there are only a few months between them as well. Beau sounds fit and well to me, hes just a little cutie:)

The other members have given great advice and reasuurance. Im sure Sinbad will be back to his normal self soon. What a coincidence, I also had lots of ants in the room where my birds are, they also got in around a television cable. Hope you managed to sort them out, creepy things. Baby powder to the rescue and it worked a treat!

My eldest grey Charlie is a great talker and picks up everything from my husband Dave. On average it will take about 2 days to learn something new and he prefers sentences to a single word. Well his latest just had me laughing this morning, I usually sneak down for a quiet cup of tea before they wake then sit and listen to them with their first words and whistles. Charlie shouts from under his cover "Let me out Dave" loud and clear, I couldnt stop laughing:laugh: He must like it as he hasnt stopped saying it all day long and is now driving me nuts!

Congratulations. Its so nice to hear those first words, and a sentence as well! Clever Chimay.

Two of mine are exactly the same! They love to sit on the doors ( which are now minus most of the door casing!!!!!) I do try and give them chew sticks and toys but they spend most of the day out and if you just turn your back for a minute they are chewing away! I hope you can sort out this problem Penny as I also lov my birds to be flighted but I know how frustrating it can be. Good luck:)

I really hope things can be sorted out for Josey. I am sorry you had to travel all that way and not receive more positive news Judy. I would stick with your normal vet and listen to good advice from Dave and others who have experienced similiar problems with their Greys. Lets hope things will improve for Josey very soon:)

Thanks for the lovely pictures Penny, Nilah is beautiful! She sounds such a darling as well with her easy going nature. If only some of our Greys could be this easy going.....

That was great Dan, I can so relate to the chaos lol. having 3 greys flighted can be a madhouse at times, my three have their mad half hour when they first come out and I spend the first half hour ducking and diving:) Thanks for the videos:)

As most of you regulars know my Charlie has always suffered with some kind of night fright which has sometimes ended up with him injuring himself or losing his flights. He had a terrible oe last night and I have been awake since 3am with him. Its affecting the rest of the family now as well as we all get woken up by the noise. You will hear him thrashing frantically around his cage it is awful to hear. When i got down last night, his breathing was heavy and he was shaking. I speak to him in a calm soothing voice to reassure him but last night it took over an hour just to settle him and calm him down. I have night lights now in the bird room, the birds are covered and there are no other animals downstairs at night time. I have had to get baby monitors so I can hear as soon as he has one, this makes it quicker for me to get to him and cause himself less injury. The other two birds are pretty good and dont make a noise but if all three start flapping around its a job for 2 of us to settle them all down again. Its affecting sleep for all of us know and i wish I could get to the bottom of it as I do worry what he could do to himself. He is scared to go upstairs so a sleep cage would not work. Does anyone else have problems like these? Or any ideas? They would be most welcome. From a very tired sleep deprived bird mum of three:)

Well I had a close call this morning. I was sat having a cuppa in the room when Charlie was startled by the post man.As always, he took flight and as a lot of you will know after his accident he is not very good at flying and can only go in a straight line very quickly as well. I went into the kitchen where he normally lands on the floor, and where was he? He was stuck with his head out the catflap with just his back end in the house! My god did I panic, I rushed in and scooped him up and brought him back in. Who would have thought this could happen? You bird proof your house, keep your windows and doors shut for means of escape outside but never would I have thought to lock the cat flap. The more I think about it now I see it does have a funny side as well but when I think how close he came to being outside it dosent bear thinking about! So to anyone else with a catflap, make sure its locked as the strangest things CAN and do happen!

Pat, he loves you:kiss: Janet those signs are great, I have one before you go into my room with the greys, always gives people a giggle:laugh:

Rhonnie, this is a beautiful post, it sums everything up about being a fantastic parrot lover which is what you are. I think we all know in our hearts if we are doing the best we can for our fids. You have done wonders over a short space of time, you should feel so proud. It takes a special person to rehome a Grey and give him time patience understanding and love which you have done. Karma to you and much respect:)

Post edited by: casper, at: 2009/10/16 14:23
