  1. That is so cute! One of my babies hatchdays is on Valentines day, can he borrow her tail please?
  2. The seeds are great ( fresh ones) which you can buy from Asda or Tesco, still a bit messy but not as bad as the full fruit.

Here is my little fella. I feel very confident in helping this little guy. I dont think he has had a bath in a long time, definetly not had fruits or veggies, lets hope in a years time the pictures will tell a different story!

    Tully

I just wanted to give you a quick update on Tully my latest addition who is a 7 year old rehome I adopted last week. He is doing just fantastic, and I have to say its the most rewarding thing I have done. Yes its hard work and lots of changes have been made, but I am so pleased he is now part of my family. He has had a vets visit today and had various tests done, just got to wait for the results now. He weighed in at a good 520 and the vet says he looks in good condition considering his past diet. I have also had his leg band removed whilst he was under. He has just had a snooze and is now singing away, we have a long way to go but this fella is a wonderful addition to my grey and human family, I love him to bits already:)
  5. Well everyone, Im intoducing a new member to our family who is a 7 year old male Cag called Tully. He is the latest addition to my flock (yes I did say I would stop at three) but I am so pleased he is now a part of my family. Tully was left by his owners 9 months ago when they emigrated and they sold him to a pet store, prevous to this he lived in a builders merchants yard. I have known Tully since he came to the pet store and deep down I have known I was gonna take this bird home but tried to tell myself three greys was enough. He is plucked and dosent talk, the pet store had him at a ridculous price and wouldnt come down but I decided there is no price to change an animals life. He came to me this morning and seems happy enough in himself. He is accepting treats and has been a little bit vocal. I have a long road ahead and will welcome any advice. He is in a really horrible cage with a couple of old toys, Im not gonna change things for a while ( even though I would love to) as I am gonna take things really slowly with him. He has never eaten veg or fruit and is on a cheap seed diet. He is in a seperate room to my other greys, who are really curious as they keep hearing him and dont know what is going on. I am happy with how is today, and hope tonight wont be too bad as Im sure my other greys will be unsettled at the new noises and Tully will be scared in a new place. I will post pictures later but they are not great as he is obviously in the cage. I hope you welcome Tully to the forum, I will give regular updates and welcome any advice:)
  6. Poor Janet, I hope you have a better day today xx

    Rant

I also look at the sites in the UK. There are so many greys on preloved and other sites for sale, it really gets me mad as well! I feel sorry for the poor birds who have no idea what fate lays ahead of them. Think before you buy!
  8. You are not the only one! I have three Greys and spend all day with them. My husband is only home a few hours as well and they learn just about everything from him and even sound like him! Typical eh?
  9. Im so pleased everything is ok today:)
  10. I would wait as well! I think the travel and quarantine would put stress on a Grey. Welcome to the forum, hope you enjoy your time here:)
  11. I cant say its anything Ive thought about before and Ive got two children! Never had any problems with their health since having the birds. I am sure there is nothing to worry about, just follow normal procedures like you say, as long as everything is clean and washing hands etc as we do anyway:)
  12. Well I got up this morning to a thick blanket of snow! Like normal in the UK, schools are shut and everything is at a stand still! Just done some internet shopping ( hope they can deliver) scrubbed the cages and am gonna spend some time with the birdies before I go make a snow man with the kids. Keep safe and warm everyone:)

The Avian vet I have been using for my three is based in Bradford West Yorkshire. International Zoo vetinary group. Tel: 01535 692000 or 01274 731299 The vet is a lovely lady called Johanna Storm. Have a look for their website as well. I was just thinking, I wonder if you could get their email and send them some pictures and discuss with them what they think the best option could be. They could maybe advise your local vet of any treatment/ anasthetic procedures etc. Caroline:)
