Keep trying, its great he has eaten some. I find if you try and offer the foods in different ways, lightly boiled, soft, mashed, you can even buy Kabob sticks to thread the fruit on to. Like us I suppose they get fed up with the same old thing. Mine all love pomegranate seeds and sugar snap peas. Check out the bird food room as well, you will get lots of ideas from there. Good luck.

Hello and welcome! Echo has quite a vocab there, my eldest grey is 19 months and seems to learn something new every day, its hard to keep up with them. Cant wait to hear more about you both:)

They are really good, I have three greys and find the price really good, they do different standards of cover so ask Sharon to explain them all to you. I feel you are best to get the supercover if you can.

Dan, my thoughts go out to Kim, I hope the results will come back fine. I have also spent another afternoon in the hospital which was pretty miserable as I woke with a stinking cold this morning as well! I hope I will feel better to celebrate the new year tomorrow. Is everyone else celebrating? I hope you all have some fantastic plans. Dan, give Kim an extra big hug from me:kiss:

Baxtersmom is so right! You normally find when you bring your baby home, if they are well socialized they will normally go to most people. All my greys have been like this then a few months down the line they choose their favourite/favourites and wont be passed round so easily anymore. My greys are 19 months,10 months and 7 months and will only be handled by myself, the youngest one will sometimes go to my husband but not very often. I have two children 12 and 9 who love the birds but again have no physical contact, I would never risk the children with a grey bite it could be very dangerous. If your grey is showing he is comfortable with you and your husband, that is great and I would limit the contact to just you two. He may also find it quite scary with so many people in the room, I know mine do I always keep them in their room when visitors come round now. They are not as social as dogs and cats and you will find your grey will keep changing as he gets older all the time. It feels like Ive not been on here for ages! I had a wonderful christmas, just the new year to go and then we will get back to normality! I agreed to go to a new years party at a friends (none bird loving) and now I am worrying about leaving the birds as we wont get home until late. I really dont want to go but what can I do? I know the friends wont understand as well when I want to get off as soon as I can and not stay and party! HELP!!!! Hope everyone had a brilliant time and I have missed everyone as I have not been on here as much over the christmas period. Best wishes to you all x

Yes, I use the ceramic dishes and the crook lock bowls as all mine used to tip them as soon as the food was put in! I think they all love to make a mess though, just another grey thing that they do:P

Charlie looks beautiful on there Sheila! I love the last picture. At least he has gone on there, it took my Charlie months to go on his new stand. Great pictures:)

Hello and a big welcome to you and your flock! I cant wait to hear more about them and maybe see some pictures! Hope you enjoy the forum:)

What are you saying the main problem is? The flight space or the newborn? Personally, I dont see what the problem is! We all have changes in our lives and we have to adapt these around our current lifestyle. Are you still worried about the noise as well like you were in your previous post? You would be able to spend quality time with your grey while your newborn slept, this would be easier while the baby is younger as they sleep most of the time. I dont have a newborn but I have two young children a husband and two cats who absolutely hate birds! I manage to juggle my day around all of them and the time I spend with them all is quality which is what you would be able to do! I am not trying to give you a hard time but just consider what your grey would be like if he had to leave! I went to visit one who needed a home and he was 11 months old, he wasnt the right bird for me and he was so obviously bonded with his owner we managed to talk and I helped him solve what he considered to be a problem and kept his grey. What I am trying to say is dont be worrying about problems before they actually happen! Greys are young children, I dont just consider mine to be pets they are part of the family. If you really want to you can make it work! Good luck in your decision.

They love building blocks. My Charlie always pinches my sons lego blocks when he gets the chance! Great picture of Mika Carolyn, thanks for sharing:)

Lovely pictures, thankyou for sharing:)

Sorry I cant help, I am in the UK and am not sure of what greys sell for in your area. A private sale here would be about £600 but with the economy at the moment I have noticed quite a few for sale for quite a while now. Good luck, I hope you find a good home:)

Well, Ive cooked some meats this afternoon and done everything that can be done now! Time to sit back with a nice glass of wine and relax before the big day tomorrow! I went to visit a grey today, he has been in my local pet store for the last 2 months. I felt so bad thinking he would be stuck in the store on his own over christmas so I went for my weekly visit with him and what did I get in return? The worst grey bite I have ever had lol. He bit straight through my skin and drew blood! I had been considering homing this boy but I think I will have to give it some serious thought now. When I asked about his history they only new he was dna'd male, approx 5-6 years old and the owners got rid of him because of the biting. I feel so sorry for him and will spend my christmas thinking about him. I seem to feel I have to help every older grey I can that I see stuck in a store! Is it just me or does anyone else feel this way? Anyway, have a good christmas eve everyone and if I dont get time to post tomorrow, have a wonderful christmas! Best wishes everyone and enjoy yourselves:)

Post edited by: casper, at: 2008/12/24 19:53

I would check the records if I was you Penny. I think its the only way to find out! I also had some taken the other week and I dont feel I have ever said anything to offend anyone I always try and offer support and help where I can. I have noticed a lot of Karma going missing on here recently, I hope this now comes to an end!
