1. Dan is totaly right Your Grey is going to be fearful of new things but its you job to let her now that new things are not bad they are just new. Eventually she will except thing much more easily and you will have done your job of raiseing a confident happy Grey.
2. As you all know I just got a new baby Grey anyway I only had 1 cage that was big enough a suitable enough for my new baby My Irn was occupying it. I had another cage about the same size and much more suitable for my Irn so I gave him that cage and gave the cage he was in to Shady you see the cage I just put my Irn in has a roof top which I heard is better for them because they like to roost in that kind of area. My problem is He doesn't understand why and keeps trying to go back to Shady's cage any suggestion on what I might do about this.
3. Wow Just beautiful I love them so much but I would never want one as a pet I would be constantly worried I'd do something wrong and might kill it I'll admire from a distance and let the profftional handle their care.
4. Yes I Know full well how smart they are Tyco will jump into conversation with the apropriate response allot. she really is quite the know it all.
5. Thank goodness I don't have to worry about that I live in Canada. But if this does happen which I doubt it will What are they going to do with all the birds that are being bred as we speak That is allot of pet birds and breeder birds to deal with.
6. Please tell us if everything is ok we are waiting patiently for news. I prayed hard for Sherlock last night and this morning. I hope everything went well and he made it through to see the doctor this morning.
7. That is such a good Idea thankyou I think I'll try that Shady is the messiest eater I've ever seen. I fill the shringe to 60cc and He loses at least 20cc everytime and to get that off his feathers is not fun for him/her or me. thankyou again for the suggestion and Shady say thanx also.
8. I think as long as you still treat your bird as #1 pet it should be fine just make sure he get love before or at the same time puppy does its just like adding a new flock member.
9. If she can prove that she is the origanal owner of that bird I beleive that bird should be returned to her I also think that she should compansate the other woman for the three years that she loved and took care of it. The least she could do is pay 1/2 the cost of another bird so mabie the other woman can get a bird for herself. I think that would be fair
10. your granddaughter takes a great picture just like you. runs in the family
11. This is Shady grey at 8 weeks old its my favorite picture of him here is picture of Shady Grey a couple weeks later s/he is 10 week old here and soooo sooooooo sweeeeeet

Post edited by: Tycos_mom, at: 2009/04/10 00:44
12. I feel very angry also when I read about this and your breeder not doing a darn thing about it I know your just happy that he is going to be okay and thats what counts but she should be esponsible for some or all of that vet bill after all she sold you a sick bird you should by every right be intitaled to a healthy bird thats what you paid for. I would email her and just sujest this to herand see if she might even fork over some of the vet costs at least half. You could probubly take her to court and get the cost of the bird and the vet cost if you wanted too and I would mention this and tell her that you think 1/2 the Vet cost would be the least she could do.
13. I would not worry there is a good chance your Sun Conure wont get along any way.
14. Your flock is beautiful thanks for shareing.
15. I have 2 Cags 1 6 yr old rescue and 1 9 week old baby. I didn't think I would get another cag Ive always wanted a Tag but opportunity knocks and you open the door or lose. I had the opportunity to get a baby Cag so I jumped at it.
16. All birds nap during the day. Mine usually after breakfast and then around 3pm just before dinner. I think all birds do this in the wild they forage for food in the early morning before it gets to hot then they relax during the hous its very hot out then in the later part of the day when it starts to cool down they forage for food again before its time to roost for the night. don't woory your bird is doing just what its supposed to do.
17. Don't do anything different than you did before the accident act as if it never happened if you approch his cage all upset because he's upset he will sence this try to be as cheerful around him as you can talk to him quietly and sweetly sit beside at a distance that is ok with him and talk from there its not going to be easy but he will come around in time lots of love and patients is needed he's had a fright and even though you were the rescuer he doesn't see it that way. so you have to start from step 1 again don't get discouraged things will get better.
18. I too will be praying and sending healing thought to Sherlock. I know you probubly won't sleep tonight but just know that you didn't do anything wrong sometimes things happen. When Sherlock gets better buy youself a cheap digital Kitchen scale and weigh Sherlock at least once a week This will help you to detect sickness early if he loses more that 10% of his weight its time to take him to the vet. Birds hide their illnesses for as long as they can because in the wild a sick bird would be banished from their flock and a bird without a flock is an easy target for preditors. the first warning sign of illness is weight loss. Just a little helpful advice. So next time you'll be prepared. he wasn't exposed to any overheated Teflon or anything was he. thee are so many things that are bad for birds. I'm sure this isn't your fault.
19. Thy can have onions small amount cooked I heard that raw onions aren't good for the because they have some sort of drug affect on them like lsd for us. I just read this in a bird book so I really not sure what that means or even if its true. a little cooked onion in a sauce is ok. Thats great your baby flew. Mine flapps his/her wings like crazy but hasn't tried to fly yet he has been climbing all overr his cage though so I think I'm going to switch him to the bigger one over the next couple days I just have to rearrage a few thing so I can fit it close to me. I'm so glad your babyis getting better those are the cute little noises they are supposed to make Mine growls at his toys also I think its so cute. I'm glad that he has found stuff that he likes to eat just keep on what your doing and you will have him down to 2 feedings a day in no time. My baby is doing something really strange most baby's cut the middle meal first mine is cutting its first meal. I work until 11:00pm so my baby doesn't get fed its last feeding until around midnight. then I fed him again around 8am but for the last 2 days he doesnt take hardly any formila at that time so I've been giveing him his veggie fruit fresh pellets and water at that time. then around 12:30 pm he wants to eat his formula and will take a full 40 cc at that time which is 3 hours before I usually feed him his second meal I'm going to feed him at 12:oo pm and 12:00 am and see how he does. I'll just make sure he has lots of food in his cage at 8:00am and then replenish it after he eats at 12:00 pm so he doesn't get to hungary for the 12 hours If it doesn't work I'll go back to giving him three feedings. 20. That is so grey't that boo bird has finally got a wonderful loveing home where he can be happy. thanks for the update and don't be a stranger.
21. The natural unsented baby wipes have aloe vera in them but I have never had a problem with plucking or dry skin with any of my birds so I don't use aloe vera on them When I bath them its in pure spring water because where I live thats what come out of my taps. No city water for my birds.
22. Another wonderful picture of Adaya just lovely.
23. OMG Ihave been so waiting for you to tell us that you got this bird. I'm trilled to peices for you. If you have a birds safe bird room for your bird then I think its ok to leave their cage door open 24/7 if not then its better that he is saftly locked in his cage when you are not home. I do leave Tyco out sometimes because there is nothing in the room he is in that he can hurt herself on. She also was not permited to fledge as a baby so she doesn't fly. o I often leave her on her playtop or playgym as long as I'm not going to be gone to long no more than 2 hours. she is always right where I left her when I get back.
24. What a very lucky bird you have and very beautiful also. your a grey't mom to him thats for sure
25. it cost me 50. for dna sexing and boy am I glad my breeder doesn't band his birds they all come with one attached to the hatch certificate but he doesn't pu them on the birds. that is a far beter way I think. good for you I ould have run as soon as they said that they don't cut bands off legs.
