I know for a fact that I'll never be able to Harness train Tyco. Fergie is harrnss trained and loves going outside in the yard. I have to be so careful around where I live as we have so many Hawks and Bald Eagles I basicly live in a huge wild bird sancuary and all the birds are so gorgous but some are deadly we have herons and cranes hawks eagles owls I was driving hone the other night and the most beautiful white Owl flew right beside my car. So even though I do plan to harness train Shady I will not allow them to go far from me. the birs around here are not afraid of people and I wouldn't put it past any hawk to swoop down and grab one of my fids from the yard or sundeck I will harness train shady so I can take him with me for rides in my car or for a day at the park in town. but at home I prefer my birds to be in the safety of thier outside cage on the sundeck. they love to spend time out their and it is so healthy for them.

This cage didn't look so big in the store I set it up tonight and its humungus. I thought Tycos cage was big its 38 x 30 x 54 I don't know if its the dome top orwhat but this is one big cage its 40 x 36 x 54 inside mesurements Shady looks like a budgie in it. I put a blanket on the bottom of the cage he fell twice tonight and I don't want him to hurt himself.

Mabietry putting an air cleaner near her cage she might just have some alergy to something thats in the air at night like mabieaplant or something plant breath oxegen at night and mabie theres a plant around her that stealing allhis oxegen or like Dave said letting off some sort of spores at night.

I just got home from Shopping and I put a new rope perch on the door of Shadys cage and I was sitting down relaxing watching Shady flapping like crazy on his new perch I said oh what a big bird are you a flyer and all ofa sudden s/he showed me just how much of a flyer s/he was and flew off he perch trying really hard to get to the top of my head landedon the pillowright beside my head I was so excited for him/her I said yea yea your a real flyer wells/he climbed up on tothe top of my head and flew off on to the couch my baby's growing up far to fast s/he can fly all of about 4 ft.

I noticed when I was putting shadys big cage together that the powder coat was chipped a bit in a couple spots So todayI went out and got himabrand new still in the box $600 40x36x64 cage Its a dometop they didn't have any playtop cages left the Petcetra close to my house was having a huge sale on 20 to 70% off everything in the store All the bird cages where 50% off so I bought the biggest one they had got it for $300.reg$600 couldn't resist I didn't even know about the sale My vet acually phoned me because she knew I just got shady so she said she was thinking Imight need a cage for him nice of her I thought how many vets will do that for you. So while I was there and everything was so cheap I bought all the birds a new rope perch and a couple extra cement perches and a new toy for Tyco and Fergie. I had so much fun spent lots of money.

I have a green cheeked conure that sleeps streached out with his feet hanging out the end every night he's 2 1/2 years old now and still sleeps laying down Silly bird:laugh:

My birds love playing with the feathers sometimes I add their molted feathers to toys I make.

Can you show us a picture so we can see.If you really concerned mabie put a different type of perch in that spot.

Tyco doesn't mind her bath Shower combo as a matter of fact I think she actually enjoys them. what I do is I fill the bath a little before I put her in about 2inches of water then I turn the shower on fine mist and let the bath fill with water up to her crop she quite likes going in and out of the shower and slashing in the bath at the same time. by the time the water is up to her crop she ia soaken wet. I have never had her run away when I say its bath time so I would say she likes it. I have give Shady about 4 baths since I've had him/her but I haven't tried the shower yet Just a nice big bowl s/he doesn't seem to mind it at all S/he just sits and babbles baby talk to me while I throw water on her/him with my hand and get him/her all wet.:woohoo:

yes thats Shady's Sleeping cage. its not big enough for a day time cage. its about 30x30x36high but Shady likes it better right now because if he falls its not to far.

Shady is about 11 weeks old now and i agree Shady does have gorgious brand new feathers.

I almost cryed when I saww this a 2am Shady has been perching to sleep lately so I took his/her sleeping blanket out of the cage, I guess Shady wanted to get as close to me as possible he has his little cage beside my bed to sleep. just look what I saw he's sound asleep Looks like s/he dumped his/bowl of pellets again too oh well. <br><br>Post edited by: Tycos_mom, at: 2009/04/12 16:25

I have one of those swifer vacs is great for cleaning up the dry stuff around the cages I also have 2 little dogs that will eat just about anything they clean up allot of the food off the floor. my birds are pretty good about the walls mind you most of my birds cages are in front of windows as long as I wash them 2 times a month they aren't to bad they love to see whats doing on outside so mabie that why they don't get them that dirty.Birds are diffenatly not ment for people who hate housework. they can make a mess faster than my grandkids can.

What a pretty bird Stella is. She looks just like Shady after he eat his formula all dirty. I've been making a hole in a paper towel lately and sliding it over his head like a bib it works good and will also help with harness training because he will be used to me putting something over his head. It. Sure makes clean up a lot easier. I bet your just having a wonderful time with Stella she sure is a. Cutie

I'm so happy and so proud of my little grey Baby. S/he has learned the Step up command. S/he know Knows what it means and has done it several times in a row. S/he has stepped up before and has been doing it for awhile. But today it finally clicked what the wors stepup means I'm so proud of my little cuddle muffin. He is just so sweet and so smart. I waiting for him to take flight anyday now also s/he flapps like crazy and I keep saying to him are you a flyer and everuytime I say that s/he flapps his/her wings more. I think s/he understands what flyer means also. It suprizes me just how smart they are

I would say to leavehis wings alone if you clip them there is a chance it will be done wrong and your bird will end up plucking or barbering if its a bad clip. as for his nails by all mean I would get them clipped or dremaled I had my bird nails dremeled just a little and it makes all the difference in the world My bird is very heavy and she would hold on so tight I had punctures right through my skin. Please make an apointment with a avian vet todo this most vets only charge around 10 to 15 dollars to trim their nails.

Hi Andrea welcom come in pull up a perch and make yourself at home. We are one big happy Grey family here and I'm so glad you have decided to join us. I've often thought about getting a Quaker but I'm at my limit for birds I just adopted another Cag a baby this time so no more birds for this girl. Thats wonderful news you must be on top of the world. Wow he must really like you to be stepping up and talking already thats great. your going to love haveing him around they trully are the best companions ever. I'm so happy for you.

Omg he is so cute How old is he now? He looks about the same age as Shady grey was when I bought him/her home. I think this age is the cutest stage of babyhood when there feathers are all coming in and they look like they have little paint brushes all over them. Those Dark eyes are just melting your heart all the way to your soul. They are just the most precious little things I know next to a new human child

Emma is very beautiful she is very talented. Tyco also like to hang upside down I sometimes wonder if she has a little bat in her from a previous life.:laugh: :huh: :laugh:

Thats wonderful news he sounds like a real sweetheart I think your going to have a velcro bird in no time:laugh: Thats so great that he's allowing others to give him scritches I can tell he's going to really love being in his new forever home. As far as the quarentine goes as long as you feel that he's healthy then thats what really counts I agree that the more he is around the family and feeling like hes part of everything the faster he will settle in and become more a part of your family. good news I'm glad to hear it.
