I think Tyco's longest phrase is yum yum Chicken want some there ya go She says it everytime I'm cooking chicken for dinner. Her next longest is no barking go lay down. as far as how many words and Phrases she say's I have no Idea she talks constantly and comes out with new thing on a daily basis her newest is oh boy that to bad. Most of the time I don't even know where she has heard the stuff she comes out with. I guess its from the kids outside. I keep the windows open alot latley so you can hear the neibourhood kids playing. Don't worry all my windows have screens in them.

This may sound strange but I've found that if your bird isn't very big that a guina pig harrness works quite well and they are very light weight compared to some of the bird harnesses I can fit my Amazon in one no problem and because its light weight she doesn't pick at it its a figure 8 type harrness and very easy to adjust to fit the birds. and its can be put on so it doesn't interfere with their crop I put it on oppisite of how you would put it on a guinna pig or a tea cup dog.

Tyco is a very quiet bird compared to my Amazon Tyco Talks and talks and talks about this and that and food and toys but she talks at the same volume as we would talk. mabie because she is older and knows more words now she doesn't do sound effects to much any more so she isn't loud any more I don't care if she talks all day long her tone of voice isn't at all loud

I put my birds to bed at 8:00Pm every night except when I work then they don't get covered until 11:00pm Mon, Fri, Sat, but I do turn all the lights off when I go to work so as soon as its dark out side they are in complete darkness and quiet on those nights also. I uncover their cages at 8:00 am birds need 12 hours of sleep or they tend to get quite grumpy.

I'm so glad Tyco will step up onto a perch readily she is cage territorial also but I can step her up from the cage with a perch and then transfer her to my hand after that she won't step up from her cage onto my hand she'll ite if I try. I keep trying though everyday I ask her to step up on to my hand from her cage and so far no way mabie one day she will I'm sure I'll be so shocked I'll drop her or something LOL

Can I join my birds just love to take a chomp every time I try to stick a carrot or a peice of apple between the bars of their cage they bite me so they can get to it faster they think. Tyco loves to play a game called scritch my neck she puts her head down real low and puff up her feathers like she wants a scritch so I always fall for it then she turns her head real quick so she can get a bite in before I can get away she does this every night I fall for it she get me at least once a week

I don't know either It took me almost 2 years to find boings for my two birds and they weren't cheap I paid 24.00 for the largest boing there is and they only had 1 and the next size down was 17.00 which I also bought those are the only 2 I've been able to find. I found them at Mr. pets they may have one in Niagra I would take a look.

Oh my I'm so sorry for you I hope that your Amazon has managed to escape this disese. If you can't afford the vet bills I'm sure the vet will work with you I know it can get expensisive but most vets will not let an animal die just because of money so he should be able to work out a payment plan or reduce the cost since its going to take alot of visits to get your bird well again.

I have a Cag and she talks as clear as I do I also have a Cocateil that talks as clear as my Cag so I don't think the size of the voice box has a thing to do with any of it It has to do with ability I also have an Amazon she also talks but some of her words are not clear others she say perfectly I'm sure Tags can talk every bit as clear as Cags mabie the ones you heard where practacing new words and just didn't have them quite right yet.My Cag sounds like Me and my 2 dautghers depending on what she's saying if she's saying something they say to her she talks in their voice sometime its annoying she will be calling mom mom and I'll think its my daughter calling and when I go see what she wants she looks at me like I'm crazy and then I realize that it was the bird calling me not my daughter. It happens allot its hard to tell the difference they sound so much a like. If a Tag doesn't imatate the sound of the voice and have their own. I think my next bird will be a Tag

You could try to change the contact call to something exceptable like a 2or 3 note whistle when you leave the room and he screeches return the screech with a whistle and he will soon learn to return your call the same way its called a contact call I have one for all my birds and they all use it

When I got Tyco she was a boy her whole life and then I found out that she's a girl even I have trouble calling her she instead of he so I screw up lots I didn't change her name but she does say both good girl and good boy and pretty girl, baby girl, I don't know that it matters much to her either way. When I got my Amazon she was 6 yrs old and I changed her name she is a rescue and I hated her name so I changed it. She knows her new name very well now

Ihave a bird thar does that also I think it has to do with hormones at least i hope that she going to get over this. right now she won't let me out of her sight as soon as i leave the room shes flying after me. She's driving me crazy. I can't get anything done when I have a large bird sitting on me. At the same time it shows just how much she loves me and that is very sweet.

Don't be scared or he will pick up on your fear and he will bite. I have a rescue and she is just starting to come around after 9 months don't try to much to touch him let him make that desision when he's ready spend lots of time talking to him with your hands behind your back and don't look at him straight on kinda look side ways at him if he lands on the floor don't hurry over to him to pick him up wait til he turns around and looks at you and then go pick him up if your scared to step him up onto your hand use a perch. offer him treats allot so he relizes that good thing come from you and just talk to him read out loud what ever it takes you will eventually earn his trust. if he will step up onto a perch for you try working with him away from his cage in a place where he can't see his cage this also helps sometimes if you can do that its the best way and lots and lots of patients good luck to you I commend you for taking him in he really needs some one to love him. try hard not to show any fear of him they can sense you feelings good or bad so be happy around him sing and dance and play nofear

I was thinking about turning the small bedroom I have into a bird room but I have big birds and little birds so they wouldn't all be able to go there unless I made it for either the big bird or the little birds or if they all had cages and I let them out at different times which I thought might work half the day for the big bird and 1/2 the day for the smaller birds do you think this would work. or would there be problems. Right now I have three small birds in the kitchen and the 2 big birds and the cocateil in the diningroom and My big birds don't bother the cocateil at all and they all have out of cage time together but they have never been in the same room with my other birds and I don't no if they would except them or not the cocateil was a little baby when I brought him into the same room as them so they kind of concider him as part of their flock but I don't know about the other birds what do you think.
-
I don't see a problem having a couple small cages in your guest room for your birds to sleep in you can keep their bigger cages in the living room and that way when company comes they will still be in a room that is comfortable to them. a few nights one or twice a year in their day time cages won't bother them a bit and during that time the smaller cages will be easier to store some where else. In that situation I would definatly have 2 cages for them a daytime cage and a smaller sleep cage.

aren't they just endearingLOL little brats if Tyco can't find the certain pellet or nut that she's looking for she picks up hand fuls at a time and throws it out of her cage onto the floor I keep a big sheet under her cage so I can bundle it up and shake it outside everyday the wild birds love the stuff she tosses from her cage it also catches the poop if she happens to stand on the edge of her cage a let loose and I just throw the sheet in the washer every couple days and get a her other one out All my birds have 2 sheet so I can change them when 1 need to be washed it make clean up a whole lot easier.

Well I didn't get a chance to take Fergie to the vet today but I had todo something or she would have all the wood in my house chewed up so so grabbed her real quick when she came over for a snuggle and I managed to get 4 flight feathers clipped on one wing before she got out of my grip I had on her she's not to happy she still managed to make it bake to her cage but in a down hill flight yeah no more chasing her every where. Idon't mind her flying I jst don't want her up at the trim around my ceilings if I can find a happy medium where she can still fly in a straight line but not gain any height that would be great any sujestions on how many flights I should have trimmed so that is possible??

I put all his old things in his new cage like his happy hut and swing, toys and I add a couple new thing also but all his old stuff is in therehe just looks so tiny and afraid and quiet I haven't heard him talk all day. I opened his cage door and put him on top of the cage a few minutes ago he seem a little better and he did climb down to get some food a couple times I guess he'll be okay I'm like an old mother hen watching over her chicksLOL
