1. I've never heard Tyco make that sound. I hope I never do Tyco also screams no don't do it. but she does that to her toys when the move when she's trying to balance her self on top of them she's so funny.
2. Oh my God My daughter just came home and said that Orvill redebacker popcorn is now safe and is made with wax bags apperently even people where haveing seisures fron teflon in the bags if you tear the bags in between you will find a thin peice of teflon but now they are making redenbacer popcorn with wax bags so if you buy popcorn read the label firs because some plases still may carry the old bags. I will be popping corn the old fashion way in a heavy pot with a bit of corn oil. I am so sorry and my prayers are with you both I could not Imagine the grief you both must be feeling thankyou for your warning about the Popcorn I had no Idea. Thank goodness the last time I bought popcorn I bought the new redenbaker bags I didn't know there was a difference I bought a box of 24 bags which my daughter and her friends cooked up within a week I don't even want to think about what would have happened if it was the old kind with the teflon bags. I have three birds in my kitchen most of the time I feel sick just thinking about it.

Post edited by: Tycos_mom, at: 2008/08/25 10:25
3. You must be just at your end I know I would be you have all the prayers i can muster up and a few more. I don't know whats best for your Baby I hope the meds work. I have heard that a calsium deficency can cause Greys to pluck even in humans calsium is a big thing I would ask the vet to test for this. it might just save you all of this grief. You just never know it could be somthing that simple
4. Berma that little one of your is such a spoilt little brat she must be a hoot to have around She always doing something to get somebodys attention:evil: so she can get some attention too the sweet little bogger:silly:
5. I'm glad it's you Berma and not me on the other end of this{Feel-good-0002006E}
6. They are getting so cute omg I'm so glad I'm not there I would be taking them all home in my pocket. your doing a wonderful job with them good for you:cheer: I just love the baby's and the adults aren't so bad either.
7. I take my birds out in the summer weather it breezy out or even if its just a summer rainfall they love it as long as its not cold out they are fine. I so wish I could Harness train Tyco but she's not ready for that yet mabie next summer.
8. I have a female grey and she has a huge vocabulary she is five years old and is the best companion I could ever have she ok picked me even though I rescued her from a very bad situation when I first met tyco she saw me coming and started paceing back and forth and streaching her neck toward me.she jumped up onto my arm as soon as I opened her cage. She let me kiss her. Beak she is the best
9. I have 2 sizes of boings and a 1 3/4 inch cotton rope 6 ft long that is knoted every foot and my Grey loves them all one boing is a 1'the otherabout 1 1/2' it doesn't seem to matter to her she loves them all
10. I know that this is all new to you and its very obvios to me that you love your new bird with every part of your being. I know what thats like haveing a helpless baby that your responsible for is a very big thing. Someone dropped an unweaned Cocateil on my doorstep last year and I was frantic to get as much advice as possible on hand feeding as fast as I could so this little one wouldn't die on me. I had lots of hand feeding experiance with dogs as I used to breed them and many times i had to hand feed pups for one reason or another. I even had to handfeed a newborn squirrl once because he fell out of his nest as a baby. but the litte bird was a whole differnt story. We did manage to get through it with allot of help from freinds who are breeders but I was so scared because so many things can happen with birds they aree different than mammals and have alot of different needs its scarry buissness and please take all the advise you can because you'll need it weather it seems like it right now or not
11. I am so glad I don't have that problem my birds love me and nobody else. No competition in this household. Mind you they all like Tuesday also (21 yr.old Daughter)she is always in and out still She move out for a couple months and then come home for a couple months. She's a great play mate for the birds she loves to teach them new things.
12. I know eactly how you are feeling and I will also be keeping you in my prayers and pray for a breakthrough for you I was the same way a few months ago. Thank the lord I got a part time job that pays as good as a fulltime one or I don't know where I would be right know. Things do have a way of working themselves out even if it doesn't look like it can keep the faith and Try not to get to stressed about things. We will see you when you get back on top which I hope won't be to long I wish you all the best and we'll see you soon back on the board.
13. Some birds are more active than other and burn more calories so they eat more it just depends on the bird.
14. I finally got around to some better quality pics of him now what do you think
15. Does anybody now what kind of mutation this Cocateil is. Sorry about the Quality
16. Thats a good weight for a Cag I would no worry my Tyco is a very big bird she weighs 550 to 560 on an average I weigh her daily and he weight go up and down from those weghts and she is not fat she just a big boned girl LOL I'm so glad that Baxter is doing so well for you he sounds like a lot of fun. My Tyco doesn't know how to fly either I don't think she was ever allowed to Fledge as a baby I'm hoping that she will take some lessons from My other birds. Its funny you should say she gets mushy at night and thats when she want pet and to be lovey because Tyco's the same way. For about a half hour before bed Tyco is almot begging for scritches and pets and kisses any kind of affection. But not during the day in the day she want me to play with her and her toys or she wants to help me eat half my lunch or dinner. When bed time rolls around she says night night and I say yes pretty soon and I know that my que to go and get her so she can have her before bed snuggles. I had to teach Tyco how to play with toys also She doesn't really like hanging toys much with the exception of her big brass bell she loves to ring that when ever she wants attention. She really really likes foot toys and climbing toys she love big ropes with Knots that she can climb and also her boing she also love branches off my lilac tree that she can hold and chew the bark off. I took a while to figure out what kind of things that she finds fun to play with but now that I know she has tons and tons of stuff she loves baby rattle with plastic rings on them that she can chew off of things that spin she also loves rubber duck toys or anything that makes noise like wiffle ballsand plastic prisons with bells inside she also likes her wooden walnut ball I posted a picture of it a couple of weeks ago.itys a wood ball made of dowels with a walnut traped inside they come in all sizes she prefer the smaller one but she will destroy a small one daily so I buy her the bigger ones now at least they last a couple weeks. at $10.00 each they can add up quick if she goes through 1 a day like the smaller ones. anyway I would try releasing Baxter over a bed take him into your bedroom for flying lessons and start actually releasing him over your bed so he has a soft landing but can still have some distance to fly and just keep moving further back as he gets better and better at it. after he has his landings perfected then you won't have to worry any more.
17. What a sweety you have there I so glad it was nothing to serious mabie you should let the breeder know that there are mites in the food you bought I would hate to see all those babies get mite from tainted food
18. You must have been devastated I know I would be I'd have to get someone to drive me to the vet because I would be crying and worried there is no way I'd be able to control myself enough to drive. how is he is he okay hows his crop any damage what a awful thing to happen. I read that some people use a paper cups to feed there larger birds because you can squeese them into the shape of a beak and they fit into the babys moth and actualy push on the pumping refex at the back of their beak which causes them to easily drink I think you have to use 2 cups inside each other so the are strong enough but I hear its more like getting fed by thier parents. you could try it least you would not have to worry about him hurting himself again
19. I'm so glad he's back to normal. He was probubly so scared of the storm and mad at you because you were sleeping and wern't there to reassure him that everything was going to be ok I know when Tyco gets scared the first thing she does is look at me and say mom, and as long as I tell that its ok Im here, I won't let anything bad happen she fine. We've been haveing our share of thunder storms lately also. Tyco sleeps in my room and so does Fergie and if they wake up scared then all I have to say is I'm here and they go right back to sleep. Fergie my Amazon is prone to night frights I think it has something to do with her old home she's been with me for 8 yrs and when I first got her she had a night fright at least 2 times a week now its only once in a while but as long as I reassure her she will settle right down again. I'm very glad that Dorian was just a little grumpy and a little mad and it wasn't anything serious. I know just how you feel though as soon as one of my birds doesn't look quite right or is acting out of the norm I'm on the phone makeing a vet appointment. We really do get worked up about them they are like our kids and I couldn't bear the thought of anything happening to them.

Post edited by: Tycos_mom, at: 2008/08/20 19:57
20. My Grey will only eat Zupreem friuty pellets she's pretty fussy she like her food soft and cooked more than raw so I tend to make sure she has some cooked veggetables everyday she loves cherry's, cantalope, and dried banana's thats the only fruits she will eat she will a raw carrot and sometime a smll peice of raw broccoli but thats about it. if its not cook she doesn't want it. I would probubly worry more than I do but she loves her fruity matinance pellets so as fussy as she is she eats her pellets I feel like she's getting enough of the vitamins she needs she also loves her walnut, pine nuts, almonds, cashews, hazel nuts, pistachios, and peanuts. I only feed my birds human grade nuts and they only get 2 or 3 each a day.

Post edited by: Tycos_mom, at: 2008/08/20 17:53
21. I cover all my birds at night time but that so they can sleep peacefully they are used to people being up and around bcause I have a daughter with elephant feet that tromps around all hours of the night my birds have gotten so used to it they don't even wake up anymore plus my 20 year old daughter is home again until she can find a new place to live and she doesn't get home until 3or4 am she works until midnight but it takes her a while to wind down so she will hang out with her work mates after work for a couple hours. My birds don't even stir anymore when they hear thing in the night they are very used to all the goings on but their covered so they can sleep
22. Dried fruit is as good as fresh fruit In the summer I will feed the birds deid fruit quit a bit because of the fruit flies I hate them I have a food dehydrater so I dry alot of the freash fruit for them Yhe just love it.
23. it trully depends on the bird and its enviroment if it get talk to like a child it wiil probubly start talkind fairly early some don't start til around a year or older that is the norm.
24. I never feed my birds white rice only brownrice and varations like brown rice wild rice mixed with brown rice and I always put a ton of veggies in with it like sweet potayo, lima beans, kidney beans. carrots, broccoli, peas, and some times a little cheese that way its very nutritous and the dont get to much sticky rice everywhere my birds little heads dissapear into their bowls and don't come back out until every bit of it is gone.

Post edited by: Tycos_mom, at: 2008/08/20 16:34
