  1. I was going to mention that, Dan, but you beat me to the punch, yes a lot of their food ends up in the bottom of the cage, they don't consume a lot of what goes into their beak.
  2. Thanks, Lovemygreys, for bringing this to our attention, most of us here know this already, but it bears repeating for the new members or for those who don't know to do this for a new addition to their flock.
  3. Like the others said, the vet would be the one to ask this question, he/she can give you the best advice as to whether or not he is getting too much to eat. But let us know what you find out.
  4. I'm not touching this one with a ten foot pole.
  5. Well Toni, you are probably smarter then I am, the oldest is smarter than the rest of the siblings. I read an article that stated that firstborn children were smarter than the others, and with me being the baby of the family, I guess that makes me sort of dumb. And all of my brothers and sisters would agree with that too, but I know better, my mom and dad saved the best for last, and that is my story and I am sticking to it.
  6. That could be so but you will never know for sure without the DNA test.
  7. Thanks, Makena, for the link for the palm nuts, I have been looking for them, I am going to check this out. I already give Josey the red palm oil but if I can get my hands on some of the nuts themselves, I think she may enjoy shredding them up and maybe eating some of it.
  8. Kitty, I don't see a problem with it, and it is not too expensive. Of course if you use it as a poo guard, the bird wouldn't come in contact with it anyway. The only thing I know to be cautious about is if you can cut it with a knife then if the bird can get to it they can probably chew it into pieces and if they ingest it, I don't know how safe it would be. Maybe one of the other members has more information about this material than I do.
  9. I boiled some today, was making a macaroni salad for our family reunion tomorrow, and I didn't have any trouble peeling the eggs, so thanks for the tips.
  10. This is wonderful news, Boswell, that she is taking this all in stride, she just needed someone to love her and you obviously do and I am so happy it is working out for you. Nice pictures of her too. Let us know what you find out when she has her vet visit, I hope she is ok and all her tests come back that she is in fine shape.

    Basil Tip

I guess other herbs would be ok to give to them also. Thanks for the idea, Makena.
  12. Heres my sun conure, Sunny, my first parrot showing off her pretty tail.
  13. For your situation, Toni, you have made the best decision, if you continue to wear earrings then shoulder sitting will definitely be out. For he will go for them right off the bat, which is why I won't wear mine at home.

    My Grey

Now theres a name you don't hear every day, but I like it, Alcazar, and the wait is almost over Toni, and he will soon be home and the real fun begins. Congrats on your new baby boy.
  15. How about if I send you MY address and you can send yourself, oh did I really say that, sorry, my heart talking again. BTW, my family will get together tomorrow and have our annual family reunion, and we will have good eats and plenty of reminiscing about the younger days. For a few of us it is the only time we see one another.
  16. I have one of those cages but I got mine from the country roost and it came with one perch and two bowls. It is cheaper in price than the one you posted, Celery, others might want to check them out too.
  17. Dan, I think the tone has a lot to do with what they pick up, and I notice Josey uses the same tone and way I say things to repeat them back to me, sounds just like me, scary really. So if you do utter a cuss word don't make a big deal out of it, just walk away like Tari said and give no reaction to it and hope they don't pick up on it.B)

    chewing

Maybe he likes a chew with a view. LOL Just keep doing what you are doing, persistence will evenutally pay off, hopefully before the window ledges run out.
  19. Oooohhhhh, me likey a lot, Penny, you are a sweetheart too. {Love-000200BF} {Nature-000200C9} We didn't corrupt anything, well nobody better corrupt us or they will have to answer to you know who.
  20. Or you can cut them in half and run a spoon around the shell and get the egg out that way, but they won't be any good for deviled eggs.
  21. But you find another tropical island better than the first and the parrots are beautiful and plentiful and that long haired god makes you feel like a princess and takes care of you and the parrots for the rest of your lives and you live happily ever after. {Love-00020111}
  22. All of us women love to be spoiled, don't we, Lady_Gwennivere, and once you come to this site you are addicted, and there is no cure. :P :P :P
  23. CD is a man and what does a man know, he does not have long fingernails, and no woman wants her fingernails ripped off or holes in them, so I say distract them in some way is best, phase or no phase.
  24. But the tropical island turns out to be crawling with snakes, the parrots get eaten by cannibals and your long haired god turns out to be a transvestite.
