  1. There are some fine websites that sell cages and some ship free, so do an internet search and find what you need from that source also.
  2. Sueb, if you would start a thread in the welcome room and give us a little more information about you and your grey, we would appreciate it very much.
  3. Yeah, that could be nasty, they would have a blowout, and it would go all over the place.
  4. Josey will go in her cage too, I know some have greys that won't go potty in their cage and that may present a problem if you have to be away for longer than usual one day and there they are waiting to be let out to go.
  5. Josey was close to a year old before she would say anything clear, before it was just jibberish. So Josey started at 12 months.
  6. Well some of the members say they give their birds the human grade peanuts, and I think they are roasted, so those may be allright to give them, I think I will try those. Personally I wouldn't want to eat raw peanuts anyway, and all of them we buy as snacks are roasted, just get the unsalted ones.
  7. Josey get a little oatmeal with baby food in it for breakfast. I fill her bowl in her cage with dried fruit, veggies and seed mix, another bowl with pellets and another with various fresh veggies. Sometimes I hang a kabob with veggies and fruit in her cage. She eats on this during the day while I am at work, and then she eats off my plate at the evening meal, whatever I am having that she can have. They enjoy a variety of foods like we do.
  8. Nooey, Mojo could be acting territorial about his cage and when you put your hand in to get him to step up you are in his territory so watch out. This is just one suggestion as to what may be happening. And too he is using his beak to check out the stability of what he is stepping up on, they use their beak like we do our hand.
  9. Thanks, Nooey, for the info, I knew that about both of them but it always bears repeating for the folks that don't know, it is just not worth taking the chance. I love my birds too much and there is so much else they can eat that they won't miss these few things, especially if they never taste them, you can't miss what you haven't tried.
  10. But you find that the birds at bird fairs carry lots of diseases and now you have exposed your birds to it and you lose all of them. I wish I could visit Paris, Rome and Venice.
  11. You are right, Nooey, the chest feathers do quiver and that is normal as is the holding up one foot clenched. That is how they rest their feet, one at a time. I don't know what else you are asking, Zohair, so give us a little more information, or ask a specific question. And please do introduce yourself in the welcome room, let us know a little more about you and your greys, and post a picture if you have one.
  12. That is right, Dan, the young greys have the shaded tails with some grey in it and it is not until maturity that the tail turns bright red all the way. And that really shows up in Connie's photo. Thanks Connie, for sharing a beautiful picture of your grey, it is a good one, shows off that bright red tail.
  13. I agree Dan, not the better choice, which is why I use a trash can.
  14. This worries all of us who have female birds, I know I am concerned but this thread serves a purpose of bringing that possibility to light and it will help us to notice if similar signs appear in ours. Thank you Kiwi for posting about this particular topic.
  15. I think one of the members posted in one of the threads about the tomato leaves and stems being toxic, but I don't know where it is now.
  16. Please do post it when you find it, about the tomatoes, I mean. And I don't let Josey have any mushrooms either, better safe than sorry.
  17. Bridtown, if you really love this bird, then you will explore all possibilities to keep it. Try the air filters to see if that helps, but do what you can and rehome if and when all other options are exhausted.
  18. But Jeanie turns out to have black hair but it is of snakes, the eyes are only blue because of tinted contacts, the nose is a real button off a sheepskin coat and the only creature that would see this as cute is a werewolf. I wish I could own one of every kind of parrot on the planet.
  19. Connie, I think we found out that the tomato itself is ok, it is the leaves and stems of the plant that are not good for them. So your vet said cooked mushrooms are ok, I hadn't heard that, I thought mushrooms in any form were forbidden. This is the first time I have heard that.
  20. Sunny, my sun conure does not talk.
  21. The baby is adorable, Connie, so precious and tiny. Thanks for sharing the link to the macaw pictures, that was very fascinating to look at how it developed from the egg to the full grown bird.
  22. No it is not ok with me, I am offended by those remarks, Mark, how dare you post such filth on this site.:ohmy: Gotcha!!!!!! :laugh: :laugh: :laugh: :laugh: :laugh: Your ok with me, Mark, I am just pulling your leg, I couldn't resist the opportunity to get you on this one. {Feel-good-0002006E}
  23. Kip is lovely isn't she, very good photo, Mark, and I like it too, thanks for sharing this with us. You should post more photos of her, I don't think you have many here on this site.
  24. Josey will go over a trash can, I never took her to the toilet. But the only thing wrong with going on command is they could become dependent on your command to go potty and may not want to go until you give the command and if you are away for a while, it may cause them stress from holding it for so long. And some will not go in their cages, and if you are late coming home one evening, they may stress out waiting for you to let them out so they can go.
