  1. For whatever reason, a lot of the members come on, post a few times, then they don't come back. I don't know whether they lose interest or what, but now that we have so much more going on and for this forum now, I hope the new ones we pick up will stay and contribute to this site. I think some of them had a specific question and when it was answered they didn't return, if they have a grey they need to continue to be active on this forum. We all benefit from the combination of all the member's knowledge.
  2. I just got another tattoo today, a lovely hummingbird on my leg. I will post a photo of it when it heals over, it is on the same leg as my other tattoo, a red rose, just on the other side.
  3. Toni, they have to allow it to fly some so it can learn to land properly, but they should allow that in an enclosed place where it has not where it can get away from them. Then when landing is accomplished the wings can be clipped, and if you feel safer with the wings clipped then that is your decision. I want to thank Monique for an excellent commentary on clipping or not clipping the wings, very thorough and factual, very nice work.
  4. I go along with everything Celery said, makes sense to me. A vet visit, playing with them and taking them on a tour of the house are all things to do with a new bird. Most greys will talk, but you can get the occasional one that doesn't but odds are yours will talk. Keep us informed as to how the homecoming goes and we will be here to answer any questions you may have.
  5. But you find out true happiness is a figment of your imagination. I want more tattoos.
  6. That was so cute Melissa, maybe Mom should take her to the craps table and gamble, I bet she would win. Thanks for a job well done.
  7. My first question is has anything happened or changed in the last few weeks that may have caused this biting?
  8. But you get an infestation of deadly bugs and you have to fumigate the place.
  9. But the screen has a hole in it and the bugs and critters come swarming thru. I want more pretty tattoos.
  10. Thank you Lidia, I knew salt was bad for them but not why, now we all know.
  11. I did not get my tattoo until I was over 45 years old, and am thinking of getting another one. Nothing wrong with them as long as they are in good taste.
  12. But your education would suffer and you would be doomed to live with your parents for the rest of your life. I want to cover myself with diamonds.
  13. Toni, I usually buy the 5 lb bag, but then I usually give some to my sun conure too. It comes in a resealable bag so it stays fresh.
  14. But you would wrap yourself around a telephone pole. I want to be able to quit work.
  15. Thats all you can do, but keep doing it, someday she will decide to eat some of the good stuff.
  16. I think most of the members who use a harness prefer the aviator harness, it is easier to put on I think and it is somewhat safer in that it is highly unlikely for them to get out of it in flight. It also comes with a DVD that explains how to use it and how to get it on the bird.
  17. But your knees are so bad from age and your spare tire around your waist prevents you from finishing across the finish line. I want to have boundless energy.
  18. Boswell, be sure to keep us informed of what you do, we are very curious about this cute grey and congrats on taking this one in and giving it a loving home. As far as handling it, play it by ear, let her decide how much and how close you get with touch and such, don't push her, allow her some space and plenty of time to get used to you. I think she will be fine in time but when dealing with a rehome, it requires more patience than dealing with a baby grey.
  19. She's a lovely thing, but I would get her checked out by an avian vet just the same to rule out anything wrong, you can't be too careful.
  20. I would be careful of getting them too close to each other, greys don't get along well with other greys unless they are brought up from babies with each other. They may never play together, but they can co-exist in the same house but not in the same cage. It might take a while for them to be comfortable with each other so give it some time. Welcome to the family, Celina, glad you joined and looking forward to hearing more about these two greys. Post some pictures of them if you have them, we love to look at photos.
  21. Hello, Tracy, and welcome to the family. My you have 3 greys, lucky you, aren't they the most awesome creatures you have ever had in your life. We look forward to hearing more about you and your greys, and if you have some pictures you would like to share with us of your greys, we would love it. If you have any questions, feel free to ask us anything, we don't claim to know it all, but we will share what we do know.
  22. Sounds like a spoiled rotten brat, he DOES rule the roost, so to speak, maybe he has it his way too much. He needs to spend some time amusing himself and not have you and your daughter occupying all his time. He needs to learn to be a little more independent and not have you entertain him all day. I know it is hard, you want to play and be with him all the time but it is not good for him. But it is good you can take him with you to places, he is more socialized that way, but he does need to spend a little more time by himself to amuse himself during the day.
  23. Yes it seems he has picked your hubby to bond with and that is something you will have to learn to live with. But he can learn to tolerate you more if you keep at it. I would not use the stick if he is scared to death of it, it is not helping. You are gonna have to earn his trust and that may take some time, so don't give up, patience is key right now. Maybe he will be more receptive of going to you from your hubby, if he picks him up and transfers him to you, work on that for a while and maybe he will come around.
  24. Aw, he's so cute, I want one now, but as I only have 2 shoulders, I can't take on a third bird. He is a looker if I ever saw one.
