  1. I am so sorry, Nooey, even though he did not like you, you were determined to love and nurture him into a friend at least. But now you can concentrate on getting you a baby, which is better in the long run, I think you will be more satisfied. I know you are suffering from a broken heart, but it will heal, you have us for sympathy, we will help you thru it until you can get another one. Hang in there and keep us informed as to what you do and what you find out about another grey. Keep your chin up, another grey baby is out there just waiting for you, have faith.
  2. Sandra, what is the distance between the bars, that would be the deciding factor, they should not be more than 1 1/8 inches apart?
  3. Sandra, it sounds like it is a process that takes time but it ensures that the bird is a good match for you and that is first and foremost the most important thing to consider. And being your friend, she will be there to help you in any way after you take possession of the bird, plus you have all of us who will be more than happy to lend any help we may provide.
  4. Sounds good to me. Does anyone else out there have a trick they taught their grey that they want to share with us and get karma, if you do, nows the time to get them in here, I won't wait forever you know, my patience is wearing thin....:whistle: :whistle: :whistle: :whistle:
  5. I once had a cat that loved to sleep in the dryer with some clothes in it of course.
  6. A definite visit to a vet is first and foremost but those eyes tell something is not quite right about that bird. I would ask a lot of questions, and I am not saying not to get the bird, but I would want to know a lot before I would buy it. But I do agree it needs some TLC very badly and would possibly make a great companion.
  7. Thats the drawback of ordering from websites, you only have a photo to go by and what you get may not be the quality in the pic. Glad you got a good one Toni, and you have an advantage of having a big pet store nearby, we don't have anything like that here, we have pet stores but not a bird specific variety.
  8. Give me your address by pm, Lidia, and I will try to get you a sample package of Harrisons.
  9. Well thanks, Loviechick, for the info, I might try that, but I prefer the Harrisons, anyway. I have tried the Roudybush pellets and the Nutriberries too. But some of the new grey owners might appreciate the numbers to get some samples to see which their bird prefers.
  10. I would shy away from that too, I wouldn't want to take the risk, some pure grapefruit juice would be ok for them.
  11. That is so funny, Beccy, you actually had arguments over it, but you won, thank heavens.
  12. I usually go with the first suggestion, cutting only some off of the first few primaries, but some prefer the other method, it depends on your bird I guess.

    Oh my, Lidia, this is a good idea, I hope you get some good ones.
  14. Thanks, Makena, for posting something I can laugh to tonight, its a tough one.:laugh:
  15. Very nice, Loviechick, I like the ones on your shoulders. I only have one, a red rose on my leg but I want a hummingbird also, am gonna git it real soon.
  16. She wasn't kidding about the book.

    Tips

    I second Dblhelix message, read over the threads here and you will find a lot of what you are looking for. Why don't you introduce yourself on the welcome page. We would like to know a little more about you and your grey. Welcome to the family, glad you joined and looking forward to hearing more about you and your grey. If you have a picture of your grey, we would love for you to post it, we love photos.
  18. Within reason, of course.{Feel-good-000200BB}
  19. You go girl!!!:laugh: :laugh: :laugh: :laugh: :laugh: {Characters-00020065}
  20. Any of the Beak Appetit is good for them, I think it comes in 6 or 7 different varieties so try them all and see which ones they prefer best.
  21. Yeah, they will be all green, green for you. LOL Lucky you, Josey won't have much to do with greens.
  22. I like drsfostersmith.com too, I order stuff from them all the time and they have a lot of useful info like you said. Yeah, you get a few bad apples wherever you go but you learn to get along for the better good of our greys. I have been on another grey site and sometimes no members will be on, here there is always more than 6 or 8 members on at any given time. So help is not far away, and I like to check during the day and evening for new developments because I would expect the same if it were my grey I was concerned about. You will find we are like a second family here, we kind of get to know one another, it goes a long way in being able to help each other with our grey problems.
  23. Well this being your first bird, you should read a many of the different posts here, you will learn a lot, and I suggest one book you ought to have. "For the Love of Greys", by Bobbi Brinker, it is one of the best books on greys. Of course we will help you any way we can, all you have to do is ask and we will try our best to get an answer for you. I am so glad you are taking on a rehome, we have too many now in need of new homes, because too many people don't realize what they are getting into until after they have them and you and I both know people should do the research first. And with tips from Loviechick, you should be well prepared for what you are about to undertake. So good luck to you and let us know when you get that grey. We want to know everything and see some pics.
