1. Do you have any other birds now? Is this your first grey? Just curious.
2. I don't know whether you would call it a game, but sometimes when I am in another room she will call out and I will answer. There are some games specifically designed for greys, like a little basketball net and ball, some will fetch something thrown out for them on the floor, I am not familar with a lot of them. I have played peek a boo with a towel, you really should get them used to a towel for that is what the vet will use if he needs it at a vet visit. I would imagine some of the other members will have more suggestions on games they play with their greys, I am not much help on this topic.
3. Sandra, since you are getting a rehomed bird, you might do well to talk with Loviechick, all her birds were rescues and she can tell you what you need to know and how to handle that aspect of new ownership. She knows her stuff and who best to help but someone who has already been thru it many times. Check out the thread, Buying a bird from another owner.

Post edited by: judygram, at: 2007/08/07 17:01
4. Dan, she has the most wonderful graphics, don't you think? Makes all of us jealous.:dry:
5. Well I was sad and happy to read your post. You lost the one you were originally going to get but another one dropped into your lap so congrats on still being able to get your grey. How wonderful of you to give a rescue a new home and you have a wonderful backup system in place with your friend and the previous mom. I am so glad it has worked out for you and keep us informed as to when you can actually bring it home. We want to know everything about it and get pictures if you can, we love pictures, can't you tell.
6. Sounds like a good idea, Tari, a must have for grey owners, what they should be eating.
7. I look forward to seeing and hearing that video, Tari, of your cute little Topaz, she is a little cutiepie.
8. Something was there that was not when he went to bed and it scared him, but glad he got over it, just shows how sensitive they are to anything different in their environment.LOL :laugh:
9. Anytime, Loofa, anytime, we love to help all we can.
10. Next question, please, Kitty.{Emotions-000200C1}
11. Aw they are so cute, Tari, and you have picked out some cute names too, why is one named turtle, that is so funny, I bet he is a little slower than the rest. Thanks for sharing those little buggers with us.
12. Hey don't sell yourself short, we like to praise those who do a little more than is expected of them. It's what makes this place so special, the people here, and I for one do appreciate you very much. Aw shucks, thats enough of that mushy stuff, now lets get down to business. Our greys are why we are here and we want the best for them, because nothing less will do.
13. This bird is in desperate need of a vet visit, and I would not purchase it without one, you have received some good advice here and I hope you can help this bird but I am not sure you should pay anything for it, it should be handled as a rescue. It looks in need of some TLC.
14. Thanks, Dan, for that research on the pellets and food available in the wild, very useful information. We got some good people here don't we. :) :)
15. Aww, Dan, I am so sorry you had to take her back, I know you would have liked to have kept both, but her health is most important, and it was just not meant to be. Josey does not like the vacuum cleaner either, she will scream when it gets too close to her, its about the only time she does react that that. Now on the other hand Sunny, my sun conure takes a bath when it is running, the sound makes her want to take a bath.:laugh:
16. Very good advice, Dan and the others, fumes from most anything is to be taken with caution around greys, they are much more sensitive to it than we are.:ohmy:
17. Makena is simply adorable and those pics are so cute, you managed to catch him in some good poses. Thanks for sharing them with us.
18. Well in my house if I broke a glass, uh oh would be one of the last things I would say, I'm sure you could guess what I would be saying, heh, heh. Dan, you better turn the TV volume down so Dayo doesn't pick up all that language he will hear on it, because they can pick up the darnest things.:laugh:
19. Dan, do you still have the female or did you take it back to the breeder? I'm glad you got a lucky one, adapable to changes if that is the way it is at your house. I'm sure you will be finding out new things every day you didn't know before you got a grey. Keep the side splitters coming, I love them.{Feel-good-0002006E}
20. I don't feed grapes much either, I was told they don't have much nutritional value.
21. If you handle it right, it will go ok. I am glad to hear you will soon have your grey home, I know the wait is unbearable but worth it. Congrats to you.
22. Whole grain bread with just a little butter is ok. I would not offer the fried foods much, too much fat in them. Smoothies without dairy products and sugar would be fine too. Next question?:laugh: :laugh:
23. I noticed those eyes too, Lovie, something is not right with that bird and I would make that a condition of the contract, to take it to the vet for a checkup and see about those eyes.
24. Loofa, my Josey will attack her toys like that sometimes too, it is just the way they play, she gets real viscious with them and knocks them around to hear them bang against the side of the cage. Don't worry about it, it is normal. Yes Dan, yours will probably do the same thing, and yes that reaction to your grandson is typical, they don't like anything out of the ordinary.:laugh: :laugh:
25. Gosh, Loviechick, I am impressed by your answers, you certainly know your stuff, and I think we all can use the information you gave to Kitty on what to feed and not feed our greys. Thanks so much for all your ideas, and keep up the good work.
