  1. I would say a baby grey is nothing like a baby squirrel but then you know that already. LovemyGreys has given you some excellent advice and she knows her birds as she has 4 greys. What a beautiful baby you have there, precious, simply precious, thanks for sharing it with us. Now why don't you introduce yourself in the welcome room and tell us a little more about you.
  2. Believe me you are in good company here, we all understand how you feel as I don't have many bird friends who are not on this site. Most people do not understand how we feel about our fids and it takes one to know one. You chat and post all you want as we make friends easily and quickly. And I completely understand about the getting on the site while at work, thats one I have to be careful of myself but once I get home someone just try to keep me off.:blink: :cheer: :whistle:
  3. You do have some good pvc playstands there Suzzique, thanks for sharing some pics with us, gives me some more ideas for mine when I finally get around to making it. I like that the vet wrap comes in such pretty bright colors.B)
  4. She looks like a real sweetheart from the pictures, it might have been me that requested the pics as I usually do in my welcome post, thanks for sharing them with us. Such an adorable baby, and those dark eyes just make you melt.
  5. Congrats to Heather for winning the contest, yeah you made front page, but they were all excellent entries so therefore they were all winners.:lol:
  6. Hello Terry and welcome to the family, so glad you could join us and we look forward to hearing more about you and Jesse. Thats unfortunate that your baby grey has a splay leg but if she was born that way then she doesn't know she is any different and will adjust to it very easily. Be careful of the junk foods she eats, we have some threads in the bird food room that has lists of some of the things they shouldn't have but anything salty is definately out. For lots of useful information please read thru the many threads and do ask any and all questions you may have and we will help you in any way we can. She is a precious looking grey and looks like a little sweetheart, thanks for sharing a photo of her with us.
  7. My Josey does the same thing, it is part of the grooming process, keeping the nails sharpened, its just normal grey behavior. I hadn't really noticed it before but now that you mention it my sun conure hardly ever bites her nails, must be a grey thing.:blink: B)
  8. Laurie I do the same exact thing except lots of times I use one of those mini boxes of raisins for the treat.
  9. If you live where there is a Walmart you will find it in their health needs section.
  10. Thats probably the size of the one Josey has or maybe a teeny bit smaller like maybe 1 inch in diameter, thats a good size though Bryan and September 9th is one day closer:lol:
  11. My Josey is a female Cag and she can talk very well so I don't think sex makes any difference. You should not be thinking of getting a grey just to have a talking bird for a few will never talk, you should be looking at it as a bonus if he or she does. Why don't you introduce yourself in the welcome room and tell us a little more about you and your desire to have a grey.
  12. I wonder about Roger, aka Trustdace, he has not been on now for a while, I hope he didn't get caught in the storm.
  13. I wore some nail polish one day and Josey did not like it one bit, they do notice small changes. Considering the age of Raz I am wondering if it is hormonal, maybe some of the more experienced grey owners will have more insight into why the biting is happening now. :whistle: :huh:

    buddy

    Susan that is great that Buddy is eating the pellets, I am sure that with his improved diet and your love he will improve a little every day until he is healthy again, good going girl.
  15. She has the seefood diet, she eats everything she sees {Feel-good-0002006E}
  16. Yes that photo is a great one, thanks for sharing PMSL {Feel-good-0002006E}
  17. Yes we are bird nuts, all of us share that one commonality and that is what makes us so special:) B) :silly: :lol:
  18. Hello Corissa and welcome to the family, so glad you could join us and we look forward to hearing more about you and Razmataz, I love that name, you will have to tell us why you picked that. Greys can be full of surprises can't they, but I cannot relate to the bite since my Josey has yet to really bite me, she has nudged me with her beak but as far as actually biting down on me she hasn't. I count my lucky stars because the day will come that she will. Since you were reading her body language this is a tough nut to crack but some of the other members may have a clue as to what may be going on and be able to shed some light on how to prevent another one. Please read thru the many threads for lots of useful information and do ask any and all questions and we will help you in any way we can. We would love to see some pictures if you would share them with us.
  19. Thanks Janine for the update on Andrew and Tui, I still pray that she returns to him or is found safe and the sooner the better.
  20. OMG Angie, you are in desperate need aren't you, I didn't know things were this bad for you two but with the costs of gas and food nowadays no wonder you are hurting, we all are. I do hope it gets better for you but I know how you feel, and you have to make sacrifices to cut corners where you can and internet access is not exactly a necessity but please let Penny know. I will keep you in my thoughts and prayers that things improve and you are able to return to your second family. We will miss you Angie:(
  21. Oh my gosh Marcia, you have been having a really bad time, sometimes when it rains it pours but glad to hear you are doing better, so happy you stopped in to update us on yourself. I will continue to keep you in my thoughts and prayers for a full recovery and you keep your chin up girl, we are here for you if you need us.

    buddy

    This will be a long slow process Susan, getting him off a seed diet but it can be done. We have some threads in the bird food room that will be of help in doing that and of course we will do what we can to help you in switching him to a healthy diet.
  23. Hello Kevin and welcome to the family, I commend you on wanting to adopt a rescue grey and yes you might have to wait for a while but one will become available in due time as there is always someone who gets one and then things change and they need to get rid of it. Congrats on your recent addition of Popcorn to your family, I'm sure she will fit in nicely with your love and devotion to her. I'm sorry things didn't work out for you on this grey you went to see but things happen for a reason and you may not see it now but in time it will be more apparent to you. Please read thru the many threads for lots of useful information and do ask any and all questions and we will help you in any way we can. If you would like to share a pic of Popcorn with us we have an other birds room where you can post it.
  24. Toos are velcro birds for obvious reasons and they can be very loud and demanding of your time and attention. I don't really know what kind of bird to recommend because any bird has the potential to bite and I think she needs to get over her fear of being bitten if she wants a parrot, my opinion of course.:whistle:
  25. Yes greys do have their own individual personalities and as such they will do tricks they learn on their own schedule if they want to aqnd if not then you are out of luck but you are doing great so far, just don't rush it and take your time.
