Ony, you have a closet talker, some greys are like this in that they don't like to talk in front of people even their bonded owner, you will just have to accept this for there is nothing you can do to make him talk in front of you.
  2. Hello JDsiratt and welcome to our family. Congrats on your new member of the family, I hope you have done your homework to know what you are getting into and how to properly take care of an African grey but you have made a giant step in coming here for we have a wealth of information in our many threads that will be helpful to you in the coming weeks and months. Take it slow and easy for sometimes in the honeymoon phase when they first come home they can be on their best behavior and when they settle into their new home and feel more comfortable that's when more of their true personality comes thru so don't be surprised if you take a step or two back as he settles in. Do you know any of his background? If not then it might be a good idea to let him be checked out by an avian vet, just to see if he is healthy or has any issues that need to be addressed or taken care of, it will also serve as a baseline in the event he ever gets sick. I would love to see some pictures of Peppie if you have some you would share with us.
  3. Hello Pinklips and welcome to our family. I imagine the majority of members on this forum are from the USA but we do have a lot from many other countries. Do you have a grey, other parrots or birds? Why not tell us some more about yourself so we can get to know you better.
  4. I hope these two dogs get reunited with their owners but if you are around when that happens I am sure they will get an earful if you catch my drift, there are too many irresponsible people out there. Please keep us updated on what happens.
  5. Hyacinth and hawk head parrots are beautiful but not for me, I will continue to just admire them when I get the chance to see them, have seen many hyacinths but never saw a hawk head in person.
  6. Crows are very smart, there is also another video of a crow using a bottlecap for a sled, he takes it to the top of the roof and then slides down and takes it back up for another go at it, very amusing to watch them do amazing tricks. We have found firsthand that they are smart enough to know what a corn sprout looks like for they pull it up for they know there is a kernal of corn on the other end.
  7. Well keep trying for sometimes one day they do eat some and find they like it.
  8. How sweet it is to be loved by Miss Gilbert.
  9. I used to think a rose breasted cockatoo was my dream bird but now like Penny I would opt for the Indian Ring Neck, they do have the most precious squeaky voice and look so handsome with that ring around the neck but I ain't getting one.
  10. Greys may snack during the night which is why we must leave some food in their cage overnight in case they get hungry which would explain the weight gain.
  11. I remember you sharing the story of your dog's attack on facebook, he is truly lucky to be alive and I know he must have hurt something awful until it healed up but glad to hear he is back to his old self though I bet he is more wary of going out in the dark to do his business.
  12. Usually they only take out the front claws when declawing a cat so I have never heard of them doing both front and back, if you had hardwood floors he would be sliding around everywhere I guess.
  13. Nice picture of them sharing a stand, they look adorable especially the one in the blue sweater.
  14. Budu is one handsome fella, thanks for sharing the pictures with us.
  15. I have not tried this but it looks good to me though if it has peanuts in the shell I would remove them.
  16. As the others have already said Sully is in love with your fiance so no touching or stroking below the head.
  17. Of the three birds I have only my grey will eat pellets, I keep a bowl in her cage with some in it at all times but the other two birds will not touch pellets but as long as they have a well rounded diet then they are not necessary. The other's suggestions about eating with the flock is right on, they like to be a part of whats going on and meals are no exception.
  18. Hello Burak and welcome to our family. So glad to have you join us and we look forward to hearing more about Budu and maybe seeing a picture or two of him.
  19. Those mynahs are amazing talkers, I always enjoy listening to them chatter.
  20. I too love Einstein and his antics, so smart and lovable, thanks for sharing that with us.
  21. What a cutie pie Toby is and yes you can see Greycie's displeasure that he hogged the screen from her, you will have to give her another chance now won't ya.
  22. Josey used to jump from her cage like that too but now she has learned to climb down the side and flip herself over the skirt to get to the floor where she goes where she wants. I echo the others suggestions to pad the floor around the cage so he won't hurt himself when he jumps, not much else you can do if he decides to jump off but maybe he will learn to climb down the side too.
  23. Hello Angie and welcome to our family. So Greycie has sworn off vegetables, well its probably just a stage she is going thru right now so don't be surprised if she goes back to eating them again. There are lots of ways to sneak those things into including birdie bread and if you look thru the bird food room I imagine you will find more ways to include vegetables in her diet until she finds a taste for them again. Please do browse thru all the rooms for you will find lots of useful information and do not hesitate to ask any and/or all questions you may have, most of us have been there and done that and its always reassuring to know someone else has been thru the same thing and came out of it without a scratch. There is a thread in the photography room that may be of help to you in how to post pictures on the forum so I am looking forward to seeing some of Greycie.
  24. I always love to hear when birds enjoy a bath for mine don't but it would have been nice to have seen it as well as read about it, hint.
  25. Cookie is a cutie pie and will be a real sweetheart when he settles in and feels more comfortable.
