  1. Yes I too have read that raw potatoes are bad for them, Josey loves potatoes though but she does enjoy the sweet potatoes also so she gets it more often than the white.
  2. You know a picture is worth a thousand words so why not take a couple to show us what you are talking about but it sounds good to me.
  3. Congrats on your new addition to the flock, I am sure Baby is gonna fit in nicely, looking forward to seeing some pictures of her when you get the chance.
  4. Thanks Val for those excellent sources of toxic and non toxic plants and leaves, such a list should be printed out and kept handy for reference.
  5. Dave always recommended a product called "Feather In" at least that is what I think it is called, you can probably get it anywhere you get other bird products, if he recommends it then you know it is safe to use.
  6. He is practicing his vocals and the words will become clearer as time goes on as he gets it down perfect, greys are amazing creatures and you will delight in what you will be hearing in the near future.
  7. Yes I remember Shari Lewis and Lambchop, so cute.
  8. Wow that is cuteness overload but keep em coming, he knows what he wants and goes after it.
  9. You gonna have to do better than that to fool Misty, she is too smart.
  10. Happy Birthday Ray, I know Corky and Cricket will make it something special for their beloved daddy, wishing you all the best.
  11. I hope everyone had a Merry Christmas and will have a wonderful New Year, may it be the best one yet.
  12. Then that's what it is then, she feels she is not getting what she should and is being vocal about it, hope things improve soon so Pearl gets what she needs.
  13. That is probably what it is especially when they pluck from a certain area like that, be sure to let us know what he finds out.
  14. The important thing is to not stress out about it, if you show any kind of reaction or be displeased about it, watching him do it and trying to get him to stop may only make it worse, they pick up on so much that we do not realize so its best to not give it any attention and just act as you usually do, I know it hurts you to see him pull or bite off those feathers but he is still the Issac you know and love even if he is more ragged looking.
  15. Ah the life of a retired person, must be nice but you do make us laugh so keep it up Dan.
  16. It kind of sounds like she is doing the baby cry when they want more food, does she eat all her food before she does it? She is using it to get attention from the looks of it but I don't think its anything to be worried about.
  17. Wow Marguerite, never heard of such a thing but animals are so much more sensitive to the earth's movements than we are so I am sure Dorian was very shaken by the experience, hope you never have another one. I feel the same way about derechos, I had never heard of it before but I sure felt and saw its power when we experienced one in the summer of 2012, never want to again.
  18. Happy Belated Hatchday Marco, hope you were royally spoiled.
  19. Hello Steve and welcome to our family. Congrats on your new addition to the family coming next week, what a way to start off a new year. As far as handling your new grey when you get him/her home just play it by ear, put him/her in the cage to get started on the adjustment but open the cage door and see if he/she will come out on their own, let it be their decision to want to interact with the family for each grey is an individual and will react accordingly. He/she may still be a little unsteady at first until they get their bearings so don't put him/her on too high a perch to begin with or heavily pad the floor around him/her in case of falls until he/she gets more confident.
  20. Hello Debbie and welcome to our family. So glad you are planning to get a grey, no matter whether you choose a Cag or Tag you won't be disappointed for both are awesome creatures and will make an excellent companion. Don't worry about wasting our time, we love talking about our greys so ask any and all questions you may have and be sure to read thru as many of the threads as you can for there is a wealth of helpful information there at your fingertips from people who have lived with them, some members have both. I wish everyone contemplating getting a grey would do the research beforehand for it would mean less of them ending up in rehomed situations.

    Good News

""I also had their bands cut off. I know a lot of people disagree about banding, but Megan's banded leg was getting chafed and she constantly gnawed at the band. They will go back in a week or so (after Mar is healed) to get 'chipped' for security and in case of escape."" I chose to not have the band put on my grey for that very reason, I have it in my possession though. Glad to hear the vet visit went well and I hope Mar's leg heals quickly.
  22. Hello Riten and welcome to our family. Mahi is a beautiful baby grey, thanks for sharing that with us.
  23. Lovely pictures of Poly with your tree, thanks for sharing them with us.
