The Dave that Nancy is referring to is Dave007, he is our resident grey expert but Talon gave you the advice you needed, don't pet the body below the neck area for those are the erogenous zones that are related to sexual stimulation. You want to distract him to something else when he gets in that mood.

Hello Sabina and welcome to our family. Congrats on taking Rio in and giving him a new forever home, he is a cutie pie from the picture in your signature line. You certainly did your homework to find out all you could before you made the final decision, they are complex creatures but once you understand them they are a delightful member of your family and yes we refer to ourselves as mommy and daddy to our fids, they are our children after all, not by birth of course but thru the heart. You will find lots of useful information in our many threads but if you have any questions please just feel free to ask away and we will do our best to get you an answer, nothing like firsthand experience to quell your fears.

Will playing African grey videos to my CAG help me to train him?
judygram replied to Burak's topic in The GREY Lounge
Some greys do and some don't, Josey will listen to some videos I play with greys in them and other birds too but if you want help in getting your grey to eat vegetables and such just let him see you eat some of it, sometimes all it takes is them seeing you enjoy some food and they want it because you have it. -
Poor banana about to be murdered, great picture by the way, beautiful, thanks for sharing it with us.

They are pulling the old snafaroo to keep you guessing, just when you thought no way they are yes way, hope it continues.

Nancy you better get that roof fixed.

Hello Shara and welcome to our family. Congrats on your new addition to your flock, she is a beauty and it does appear she might be over preening those feathers but maybe now that she is in a different environment that will stop but only time will tell. The addition of new toys and things to keep her occupied when caged should help to keep her distracted from doing it further. Since your new grey is a baby I assume the other two were rehomed but it would be nice if you could give us a little background on them so we can get to know you better, they look lovely too and thanks so much for including pictures in your intro post. You will find lots of threads especially in the nursery room that will be of help to you in the coming weeks and months as she settles into her new home but taking your time with her and being very patient will prove invaluable to you. Some greys do not like to be touched very much and you will have to respect that but she has only been with you a short time so be patient while she decides if you are worthy of more interaction with you, never press her to give more than she is willing to give at any time so you can gain her trust as it must be earned and grey time can be very slow. I see the other two greys have a name but what is hers?

I have bad news for those who followed Cocoa, she passed away earlier today. She was owned by Sanggay Dhorje who is a member of greyforums but no longer actively participating. I learned of this news thru facebook and had followed her adventures with her family for several years, she was buried near the hiking trails where she loved to accompany them on their walks thru nature. I know a lot of you don't know dhorje but he was very active here for several years and there are still a lot of pictures and videos of Cocoa on her adventures to the hiking trails and the park/playground and he regularly exercised her on a harness and leash. She will be sadly missed by her family and all those who followed her, she was a much loved companion, may she rest in peace.

Hello Blf3greys and welcome to our family. Wow you have 3 greys, have you had them all their lives or are any of them rehomes? As the others have mentioned pictures would be most welcomed.

All the more reason not to have a set routine, its important to mix things up a little so they don't stress out when the day comes that it changes for it will as life always throws us a curve from time to time. You say she was needy this past week, the same time you got called for jury duty, sounds like it is already affecting her, when the trial starts try to leave it in the courtroom as you can see how sensitive she is to your feelings, hope it goes quickly.

Revoke the Tax-Exempt Status of the National Football League
judygram replied to Dave007's topic in Off-Topic Discussions
Just another example of the corruption in this country, meanwhile people go hungry, have no shelter and no jobs especially the veterans, they should be ashamed of themselves. -
I am so sorry for your loss, even though you only had him a short time you came to know how they capture our hearts so easily, comfort yourself with the knowledge that you did all you could and he knew how much you loved him, one month in your life but forever in your heart.

Neither I nor my hubby watched any of the Super Bowl, just not interested in pro ball games anymore, rather watch college. -
Hi New Rescue Grey Owner! (long post)
judygram replied to Bingo's topic in Welcome & Introduction Room
Hello Bingo and welcome to our family. So happy you could give Bingo a new forever home and now all he needs is time and lots of patience on your part for him to settle into and feel comfortable in his new surroundings but he sounds like a real sweetheart. Greys are very smart and pick up new things quickly but if you do not like a particular sound he copies then ignore it and reward the ones you do like, its not surprising that he is being very quiet, greys are noted for being one of the quieter of the parrot world with several vocal times during the day. We would love to see some pictures of Bingo if you have some you would share with us. -
Sometimes we have to take a step or two back before proceeding on but it sounds like she is in a pissy mood but this shall pass and you will see the lovely Miss Gil again, bless her little pea picking heart.

Cypres is a beautiful grey and I know she is going to be a wonderful addition to your flock, looking forward to seeing her flourish in her new environment.
-
Thanks Carol for giving Cyprus a new forever home and welcome to the world of grey ownership or maybe I should say being owned by a grey is more like it, I look forward to hearing all about him and seeing some pictures.

You get ready to turn on a kitchen appliance and you proceed to warn of the impending loud noise.

I love anything with animals in it, thanks for sharing it with us.

Hello Pat617 and welcome to our family. Greys are known for being one of the quieter of the parrot world but that does not mean that there aren't some who push that to the limit especially when they are trying to imitate a conure as mine does occasionally. Do not worry about not hearing much vocalizations so far as he has only been with you a week, takes longer than that to settle into a new home and feel comfortable. Pictures are always welcomed.

Hello Julia and welcome to our family. So glad to hear you gave Archie a new forever home and you have been given some excellent advice so far as it just takes time and lots of patience but you will soon work it all out. He is a handsome fella from the picture you shared with us.

Yes the dodo bird from the Ice Age movie, that's it exactly but a good one.

Roxy is a gorgeous grey, thanks for sharing the pictures with us.

""Do you have to rinse the cage after spaying with vinegar"" No you do not have to rinse as the vinegar is harmless and the odor dissipates quickly.
