  1. Congrats on your new grey Shredder, why not share a picture or two of him with us.
  2. Citrus does have acid in it and so it should be given sparingly but mine enjoy an occasional orange slice to suck on.
  3. I can't add anything as Dave has spelled it out pretty well, good luck.
  4. Hello Gazreesy and welcome to our family. Congrats on your new grey and it does take time for a grey to settle into his new home and feel comfortable so be very patient with him as he goes thru this process. Greys are very cautious creatures and it takes a lot of time for them to adjust to a new home but as long as you don't rush things and let his make the decisions about what he is comfortable doing then things should go smoothly. That cage is similar to my grey's cage, she loves the playtop on the side like that and spends some of her day there playing. Now all we need is some pictures of him. Btw, what is his name?
  5. Janet said it best, don't get another parrot as company for a parrot get it for yourself, a grey usually won't bond to another species of parrot and lots of times won't get along with another grey, many on the forum have more than one grey and most would say they do not get along maybe just tolerate each other. I won't deny that having another parrot would be company for one another, my 3 don't get along but I think if I separated them to different rooms they would miss having the others around but then they have been together for years so that makes a difference, your eclectus is by herself for now but if YOU want a grey then by all means get one for yourself, remember it is more time commitment on your part if you do.
  6. If properly used only one would be necessary in my opinion. In answer to Brat birds I guess no man wants to return to live with his Mom.
  7. That was totally awesome Dan, those people fishing were there that day not by chance but to save those 4 deer, I love hearing stories like this, thanks so much for sharing it with us.
  8. Josey is the only one dna'd female, the other two birds I have not sexed but no eggs so far and I think they are female also.
  9. This droopy eye is not normal and if Echo was mine I would be contacting my avian vet to find out why this is happening so please let us know what you find out.
  10. It only gets better when sharing your life with a grey.
  11. I would reserve it as an occasional treat, the second ingredient is sugar which is not good considering it comes before most of the grain included in the cereal, added salt is in there too.
  12. I was so disappointed when I clicked on this post as I was expecting a picture to go along with the caption, please keep camera handy, oh well next time maybe.
  13. Then you struck it rich with Cricket because I hear from other amazon owners that it is a terrible time but so glad she doesn't live up to the reputations.
  14. Kind of like some people think they can mold their spouse into what they really want in a spouse, it just doesn't work that way, greys have a mind of their own and you just have to accept them as they are.
  15. Hello Quirky and welcome to our family. I guess it was just meant to be with Jake, things fell into place and now he has a new forever home and you have your grey you have wanted for a long long time. He sounds like a real sweetheart and looks handsome to boot, bet we will be hearing and seeing a lot more of Jake.
  16. A picture of that would have been awesome but keep the camera close by in the chance it happens again for this I want to see.
  17. Happy Hatchday Louie, you handsome devil and so spoiled.
  18. What a wonderful picture of you two cuddling, thanks for sharing it with us, blessed you are.
  19. Wow she is doing very good for it to be only her second day with you but do be prepared for a setback or two as she progresses, more and more of her true personality will emerge as she settles into her new home.
  20. Misty is sure one lucky grey, thanks for sharing those pictures with us.
  21. Ah the life of living with parrots, nothing is safe from beak or talon marks, hope everyone has a Happy New Year.
  22. Baby is very lovely looking and I am sure she will prove to be a wonderful addition to your flock. Guess there will be a new signature picture coming soon.
  23. My grey Josey only tolerates showers but she will try bathing in her water dish.
  24. First off there are no stupid questions, this is a forum for grey lovers so we all know where you are coming from and if you don't ask then you aren't going to find out the answers. As most everyone else has already said at two years of age they are still a baby but it doesn't make much difference in the age of a grey when you first take them into your home, if you give them the time and love and are very patient with them even the most difficult ones can be won over, you have to earn a grey's trust, with some it will come more easily but with some it will be a long and arduous process but well worth it when it happens.
  25. I have seen those hanging playgyms and agree they tend to be pricey but I see no reason why your birds wouldn't love them as much as a tree stand, I am sure there are some members here who have used them and could chime in with their comments.
