Hello Blue and welcome to the family, so glad you could join us and you certainly do have a beautiful baby and what a nice tribute to your dad to give him his name. He is precious looking but then I haven't seen any baby greys who weren't, saw a sweet young grey in a pet shop today while out shopping in Plymouth and it was so adorable. Thanks so much for sharing a couple of pics of Hal with us and we hope to hear more about the both of you.

Happy Hatchday Kito, hope you are so spoiled today.

The advice Jay gave is fine and good but do not dismiss Dave's advice for HE does know what he speaks about because it is from many years of experience both as a breeder and owner of pet greys. I and other members on this forum have relied on his advice for over 3 years and he has not steered me wrong yet. It is apparent that Dave and Jay may have different approaches to solutions to problems and Dave tends to tell it like it is which means he can be a little blunt at times but that doesn't mean he doesn't care or doesn't know the answer, he just doesn't sugar coat it.

Thanks Chelsea for sharing that video with us, I would love to visit such a place, will have to do a google search to see if there is one anywhere near me, loved it.

That Cocoa is one lucky bird, thanks for sharing the pics with us, isn't it nice to see them with a healthy appetite.

I would love to be able to visit such a place but don't think we have anything similar in our area, thanks for sharing the pics and I look forward to seeing some videos when you get them posted.

Need help to stop poor bird from this horrible Feather plucking
judygram replied to Salar's topic in Health Room
There is not much you can do if you have provided all the things necessary for his/her health and if no medical reason is found then it is considered a habit and they are hard to break once it is established. You might try another vet for a second opinion but I doubt you will find anything you haven't already tried and those collars you are talking about ususally only work while they are worn, when taken off they tend to return to the plucking activity. You may just have to accept this bird as is and see the inner beauty and not pay attention to outer looks. -
Hello Donald and welcome to our family, a new grey baby, you must be so excited, looking forward to seeing some pictures soon.

Janet, we are two classy women who know when to quit besides they don't know how to make margaritas!

We made it into 4 pubs last night doing the pub crawl, good thing we had a ride home but we had a lot of fun, lots of old buildings and rock and stone, enjoying the trip immensely making lasting memories and forever friends, wish you were here.

Patience, patience as it will more than likely come, Josey didn't talk until she was one year of age so you have plenty of time and if I remember correctly your grey is young so give it time and remember you don't have to keep repeating it as sometimes it only takes once.

Hello and welcome to our family, you do have a pretty grey and I also love the name Willow, I think I know the forum you have the contest on as my friend (madparrotwoman) voted for Willow but some of the other names are good too. Please do share some pictures of your other birds in other bird's room and I bet they are as lovely as the cag.

Well we have had a pretty day today unlike yesterday but we don't let the weather spoil our fun, Julie and I went sightseeing today around Plymouth, did some shopping and tonight we are going to a couple of pubs so we might get smashed but who cares as we are having fun getting to know each other better, sorry I don't have any pics to share at the moment but soon.

Well the Jude has landed and it has been typical British weather, raining on and off, bloody English but we are having a good time anyways, just two old broads having a good laugh talking about anyone and everyone and that means no one gets left off the list. I hope to have some pictures for you all soon if Jules and I can compose ourselves, just wish you all were here to enjoy it too.

Lucky birdies get a homemade treestand, thanks for sharing that with us.

You will have to work on building trust when you bring your baby home and that will have to happen whether the baby seemed scared of you when before it wasn't for bringing it into your home will be a completely new experience for your baby grey and you have to work at building trust and that comes with time, patience and consistency in spending time and caring for him/her. We have all had to deal with this no matter whether our grey chose us or we chose them, trust has to be earned, it isn't just given at the drop of a hat. I think if you keep that in mind you will do fine.

Be sure to get a heavy one for those thin bells they just end up taking the clanger out of but I have one of those she cannot take it out of and she loves to bang it around and play fight with it. I look forward to seeing some pics of Cleo.

Hello Graham and welcome to our family, so glad you found us and we look forward to hearing more about you and this new grey. Is her name Graham or is that your name? Sometimes when a grey gets to playing hard they get kind of worked up and a little over excited and then they bite or press down more so back off a little when she gets too excited and let her calm down. Also you can tell her "no bite, go easy" or something similar and use it every time to let her know she is biting harder than you like and with repetition she should get the message that her biting in rough play is not acceptable. You can give her some foot toys to play with that she can be rough with instead of your hands, my grey loves nothing better than to give a big heavy bell a rough time, she will bang that thing like she is mad as heck at it, they usually love stuff like that. Please do read thru the many threads for lots of useful information and do ask questions you may have and we will help you in any way we can. If you have any pictures of her you would share with us we would love to see them.

Patience, patience, patience Sunny will say other words soon, it seems he has found his voice and he likes it. BTW, congrats on your bird saying words and just ignore when he repeats it over and over, he likes hearing himself say it and he is probably so proud of himself he just wants to hear it over and over. Now that he has found his voice he will be saying other words and phrases so just enjoy.

Hello Billy and welcome to our family, am looking forward to hearing a lot more about you and Racle. I don't think I have ever heard that name before, does it have a special meaning? Do you have any other prarrots or birds? Please do read thru the many threads for lots of useful information and do ask questions you may have and we will help you in any way we can. We love pictures here so if you have some of Racle you would share with us we would love to see them.

You aren't alone in this matter as I would want to do bodily harm to her too, she is a hoarder pure and simple and should not have even one bird since she mistreats them, she has no idea of how to handle and keep birds and probably doesn't give a rat's patootie about it either, these are the kind of people who who make me so mad I could blow steam. I wonder if you could report her, its worth a try for she definitely should not have those birds, I feel so sorry for them but not for her. I am sorry it didn't work out for you to get this bird but life makes demands and we have to take care of them and put something we really wanted on hold to get later but you never know what life holds for you and the near future could bring something really wonderful, sometimes when one door closes another one opens.

Oh dear Poor Pippa has had to deal with so much but you are doing all you can to make her life happy and it does make a difference and Pippa knows it, she probably knows she is so lucky to have you in her life as I am sure she would not be here right now if it wasn't for you and your care. I hope she has many more years to enjoy and I hope you do find out what is causing her respiratory distess for then you can eliminate it from her life. Thanks for letting us know of her recent bout and keeping us informed.

Hello Jim and welcome to our family, I bet you are itching to bring this baby grey home with you, like a child waiting for Christmas morning but it will be here soon. Is this your first grey, first parrot, first bird? Please take a little time while you are waiting to read thru the many threads for lots of useful information and do ask questions you may have and we will help you in any way we can. If you have taken any pictures of this baby please consider sharing some with us or when you do get some as we would love to see it.
