What a pretty flock you have Ray, thanks for sharing a picture of them with us.

Loved it, thanks for sharing it with us.

Yes please do allow him to sleep on you during the day when you are resting or watching tv for in the coming months and years it will probably not happen that way as they usually get more independent and will not be so cuddly so enjoy it while you can. I do agree not to ever let him sleep with you overnight for the very reason you mentioned, they are safer in their own cage. It sounds like you are doing well with him and building a wonderful relationship with Maui, have you shared some pictures of Maui yet?

That is a lovely bird with wonderful coloring, thanks Janet for providing a link, now Birdnut are you thinking of getting this bird?

Hello Pam and welcome to our family, so glad you could join us and we look forward to hearing more about you and Merlin and thanks for giving him a new forever home. Thanks for the great intro and hope to see some pics of Merlin soon. -
Hello Josie and welcome to our family, we are so glad you could join us and we look forward to hearing more about you and Misty, I especially want to hear why you call him demented, there must be a story about that, would love to see pictures too.

Where do you turn for bird neglect?
judygram replied to Chris and Matt's topic in Off-Topic Discussions
If you are willing to go back and check on that too then by all means do so, make it known to them that the conditions are not acceptable, he needs a bigger cage, fresh water at all times and some toys to play with, sometimes just nudging them a little will force them to make a few changes for the better, go that route first then if nothing happens take it to the humane society. I know it makes your heart heavy to see this bird in deplorable conditions but then you might just be what makes the difference in getting this bird what it needs, thanks for caring. -
Wow go away for over a week and miss all the fun but I just want to comment on the fact that you have brought a new to you grey into your flock of two existing greys and they all get along, you are very lucky indeed to have three who get along so well, may have something to do with them being held in such high regard by you and your family. I enjoyed the video of Huckleberry dancing and the pictures I did see, guess I missed the ones you deleted but thats water over the dam now. You don't have to explain why you clip your birds, some of us here are very outspoken about not clipping wings but it is each owner's decision whether to clip or not and shouldn't be questioned by others.

Hello Daryl and welcome to our family, so glad you could join us and we look forward to hearing more about you and Tia, she is a beautiful grey too from the pic you shared. The others have given you some excellent advice and as you commented yourself they do have their own unique personality but Tia sounds like a real sweetheart.

You have some nice friends there and my daughter used to have a couple of goats too, have to say that baby goats are the cutest things, thanks for sharing some pics with us.

Where do you turn for bird neglect?
judygram replied to Chris and Matt's topic in Off-Topic Discussions
The first thing I would have done is to go to the person working there to speak with the manager or person in charge and tell them the bird is overheated and has no water, give them a chance to correct that and if that doesn't change things then you can contact the local humane society to check up on the place. Some people are just ignorant of how to properly provide for avian friends and maybe they don't know a bird should have some toys to play with and water along with food at all times but yes this happens all too frequently and though you wanted to come to this bird's resuce you can't save them all. -
Happy Hatchday Georgie even if it is a day late but better late than never, hope you were rightly spoiled.

Some more pics of my trip, went to the beach, the harbor at Dartmouth, Julie and I sitting on a rock at Dartmeet, a magpie in a tree near her home and some unidentified bird we saw that was so pretty I had to take a pic, hope you enjoy the photos.

OMG am I tired but its a good kind of tired, Julie and I packed in a good week getting to know one another better and she took me on sightseeing trips every day and some evenings we ended up at a pub or two, one night we did the pub crawl where we went to 4 different ones, don't worry she didn't drive home as we were picked up. I have lots of pictures to share but some of the best scenery was seen from the airplane windows as I flew over England especially as I was in her area but I have no pics, only the images in my mind that I will remember forever. Such pristine countryside, the fields were surrounded by either stone walls, trees or shrubbery neatly manicured to make for a beautiful pastoral landscape with villages here and there, all I can say is WOW. That is Julie in the first pic. [/font]

The before and after pictures are startling in contrast, she has come full circle in color and is beautiful, no wonder you wanted to share some pics as I would have too, thanks for sharing them with us.

Thanks for the laugh Dave but I can say that the only sound I hear when Josey drops one is the sound of it hitting whatever it lands on without any other noise like a fart, mind you she can make fart noises but then they are mimics, heh heh!

I know the feeling well but yes do put the perch where he will use it most and you don't have to take it out so just leave it in and I bet you will find it will help immensely with those long talons of his.

The fact is we wouldn't have this problem if people would just let breeders finish the handfeeding process and wean their babies before selling them to the public, this is the fault of both breeders and people who think that the process will make their babies bond better with them which is simply not true. Jay, I felt that you enjoyed giving your advice on handfeeding since you know so much about it and only someone who has done it and knows what they are doing should give such advice which rules me out for I have never handfed a bird before, I am smart enough to know I should leave that to the breeder and if a breeder wanted me to finish out the weaning myself so he/she could make a buck I would find myself another breeder for it is ultimitely their fault that this practice is so widely used.

Sometimes we have to be careful of what we wish for but it does happen that way sometimes and now that she has started she probably won't stop, way to go Cleo.

Dave is right, a big cage at this point may be overwhelming especially if you have put a lot of toys in the cage, take some of them out and see if it makes any difference but she might just have a more docile manner about her and it may take a while for her to blossom into her full personality.
