Oh I so hope Juliet is going to be ok, poor little dear, I will be keeping her in my thoughts and prayers that she pulls thru, keep us informed Jenn.

What a fun time Georgie is having taking a bath, thanks for sharing the pictures with us and you do have a pretty little girl with gorgeous blue eyes, you must be very proud.

I allow Josey on my shoulder but she doesn't spend a lot of time there, my constant companion is my sun conure, Josey is not jealous of the fact that Sunny spends so much time there as she has always done that but Josey does get some one on one time every day, she is most content to just play on her cage playtop or in her cage. I do not wear earrings at home anymore for they are an attractant to birds even Sunny. Josey behaves herself when she is on my shoulder and will step down if I ask her to.

You better watch that Neptune, he will be escaping from his cage soon, he is a smartie all right. -
What a wonderful thing your cousin is doing and I hope this hawk can be released back into the wild again, please keep us informed of his progress as you get the news Carolina and give her my thanks for a job well done.

I'm right there with ya Dave and I would like to open up a can of whoop a** on that former owner!

Hello Kaleah and welcome to our family, we are so glad you rescued this grey, imagine being beaten because she wouldn't talk, some people can be so cruel but enough of that. You may have been her knight in shining armour and she saw you as rescuing her from her predictament but it may not stay this way as you are in the honeymoon phase of taking in an older bird so watch out for her to unpack her bags and you may have some things to deal with but you are doing splendid for now. One word of caution on rubbing her down her back and especially her tail area, she is 4 years old, as old as mine and touching her in those areas are her sexual arousal areas so by stroking her you could be lighting a fire if you catch my drift and you don't want that. If she starts holding her wings lower and out from her body and makes wimpering sounds then say "thank you" and walk away as you don't want to sexually frustrate her. Would love to see some pictures of Kaleah if you have some you would share with us.

Thats wonderful Cobi and just think in terms of small steps for that is what it is and you are making progress, just keep up the good work as you are doing just fine, thanks for the update on Neptune.

It just seems unnatural for them to wear a flight suit and for just one reason to keep the poop off of furniture or clothes, in my opinion if you want a bird then you must put up with the poops because one doesn't come without the other.

It does sound like Sully might need a nighttime feeding again and it can't hurt him, just give it as long as he wants it, he will let you know when to quit. Some just weaned greys will revert back to that comfort laden feeding and it makes him more content so go ahead and provide it for him.

As Janet said when he calls to you when you are out of his sight he is just wanting to be reassured that you are still around so you can call back to him to let him know you are still there. I would go back to square one on the building trust again, just accept what he gives you and don't force him into anything he doesn't want, some greys do not like to be touched much and maybe Neptune is one of them so accept the fact that you can't handle him much but you can enjoy his company without having to actually touch him. He does want to be with you but on his terms but I realize you cannot be with him all the time so be there for him when you can and the other times let him know you are in the house but not in his line of sight, by calling back you are reassuring him of your presence.

Thats what is meant by the phrase "he is so black he shines" stunning!

I agree with the others, leave birdtricks alone as it is just a money making gimmick, you will learn so much more from Barbara Heidenreich and the goodbird.com site. Carolina has given you some sound advice, greys are not like dogs who would be glad to come when called, sometimes they like to control their environment and make decisions themselves and we are best to respect that and ask again another time.

Tweety is a gorgeous little conure, I am partial to conures as I have a sun conure named Sunny who was my first parrot, she is about 6 years old now and a delight to have as I am sure Tweety is too, thanks for sharing a couple of pics with us.

Well Karen I hope one day you can see your dream fulfilled and if it is meant for you to have one then you shall.

I don't know much about eclectus parrots but we do have a few members who have them so maybe they will chime in with their opinions and comments for you to help you decide, Janet has one of the SI eclectus.

I'm glad to hear you want a grey in your life but they don't usually come cheap but you can look for one in rescue situations, Phoenix Landing is one such organization but they do not serve your area, I have included a link to their page so you can have a look and maybe contact them to see if they would be able to help you or maybe they know where you may look for some help, good luck to you but you have to remember its not just the initial fee for getting the bird, its day to day upkeep with cage, food, toys and possible vet visits that can add up to a lot. http://www.phoenixlanding.org/adoption.html

Please don't clip her wings just so you can take her outside, if she is flighted she should remain that way or you may face other problems but clipping does not guarantee she won't be able to fly away for with the right breeze going she could be gone in a flash. Do you have any type of travel cage, if so you could take her out into the sunshine in that but a UV light would provide her with the benefits she would get from the sun, you need a full spectrum light.

They are gorgeous birds and very majestic, I have had the priviledge of seeing two of them several times in my life and I just watched them in awe, they have an incrediblely big beak and that blue color is beautiful. As babies they pretty much look like any parrot.
-
I thought oh no not again but thankfully you had the bird netting in place, I can fully understand how you must have been scared sick to think Paco was gone but now you can sit and let your heart settle back into your chest as it doesn't belong in our throat, thanks for sharing that scare with us.
-
So Ryan have you chosen a dog yet?
-
Martyn the first thing you need to do is take this poor bird to an avian vet for a full checkup to make sure she is healthy, she is obviously plucking but you need to make sure there is not a medical reason for it. Some people will say anything to make a sale and its hard to tell what else he told you was false. At least she is in good hands now and you will do whatever you can to make her healthy and happy but it won't be easy or quick but you have our help, all you have to do is ask. I know you were looking for a beautiful grey but you have given this one a second chance to be well taken care of, you could have walked away but you didn't so thank you for giving her a chance to be her regal self again.
-
What a wonderful time Ziva had and it doesn't surprise me that she did just fine, they can be very adapting to new experiences when handled properly and you did all the right things, I bet she will be looking forward to the next adventure and will be more gregarious and next time take some pictures please.
-
That was so sweet, the too feeding the grey, thanks for sharing that with us Dan.

I can't tell whether you are holding him down or he is just laying on his back Sanggay but I am going with the latter for I don't believe you would have to do that to Mocha, thanks for sharing some Sunday morning pictures with us on Saturday night, love the time difference.
