Thanks Ryan for giving us an update on Paco, I understand how life can be busy and sometimes you don't know whether you are coming or going but it is good to hear he is flying now, he will get better at it the more practice he gets. Lots of members here have dogs, cats and other pet animals but supervision is needed if you add a dog but they can co-exist just fine if handled properly, do let us know what you get and share a picture too.

Thanks for the great update, as far as the poops don't give her so many grapes, use them more for a treat than a regular part of her diet as they do not provide any nutritional value and since they are full of water hence her poops are more watery. You will have to be more creative in putting something on that chair to try to keep Tia away from it, why not tie a towel or something that she would not be able to just fly by and knock off and you may have to change the color from time to time. Yes by all means get that playstand out again so she will have it to play on, it might take a while for her to get used to it again.

Wow Pepper looks great, a very handsome fella and I look forward to hearing all about his homecoming with more pictures please.

I am so sorry to hear that Smokey is no longer with you but you did the right thing in giving him the chance to live, sometimes we love enough to give them up if it means they will have a chance even though your heart is breaking right now. You made the ultimate sacrifice to give him up to save his life and I thank you for that.

Ha ha, you have to take the bad along with the good but at least it doesn't have a stench like cat or dog poo, whew!

Pepper is adorable and looks like he might be a bit of a dancer if the right music is playing, he looks good and be sure to let us know how it goes in the first few days in his new forever home, thanks for sharing that vid with us.

Have you tried different kinds of toys, wood, acrylic or leather as there are many different types of toys, some greys like one kind over another and sometimes it takes some rotating and trying to find the ones your grey might prefer. Most greys love nothing better than a heavy bell to clang and beat around, I know Josey does. Some are attracted to bright colors or textures so experiment to see if Adooi shows some interest in a particular kind.

Yummy in my tummy says Ecko of the grape and mimicing birds is easy as pie, thanks Caitlin for sharing the videos with us and it looks like the chest is bare in the second vid but he looks fine otherwise.

Maui seems to get "mad" at me when I leave him for a couple of hours
judygram replied to lisamarie973's topic in The Nursery
Oh my dear you will soon enough for they grow so quickly so be careful of what you wish for! Maui is a baby right now so he needs more attention and such but as he weans and gets all his feathers he will start enjoying some time to himself to attack his toys and amuse himself but for right now he is more dependent on you but that will change soon. I think right now he just wants the assurance you are around and if he doesn't have some type of small stuffed animal in the brooder with him to cuddle up to consider getting him something. -
Yes they do grow up so quickly but you have this video to remind you of what was for soon clearer sounds and words will be appearing as he gets in practice so be prepared to be awed, thanks for sharing that video of Jasper with us, he is so sweet.

Hunter and Quincy - The new Bonnie and Clyde!
judygram replied to texascowboy1979's topic in Training
Well they say two heads are better than one so the duo has hatched an escape plan, better come up with a fool proof way to keep Bonnie and Clyde caged before they get into some trouble bigger than they can handle, thanks for sharing that with us, they are way too smart. -
Congrats on Hunter learning to fly and doing so well at it too, it must be such joy to watch him hover and fly all over your house, he will be such a confident grey.

My fids eat a little meat too and I would go easy on the pork and beef and share a little chicken or turkey from time to time, they enjoy a little meat and the protein is good for them, they can also have some fish too.

My much loved grey just died
judygram replied to kathleenbatlle's topic in Welcome & Introduction Room
Kathleen I am so sorry to hear of your loss, you must be devastated but do consider a necropsy to find out what happened to Jimmy, it could have been something you were completely unaware of and could help someone else to not have to suffer the same fate. If you would like you can make a post in the Pet Memorial room but again I am so sorry. -
Thinking of bringing home a grey - help!
judygram replied to CRYROLFE's topic in Welcome & Introduction Room
I leave a radio on for my fids when I am not at home, others leave a tv on so they have some noise, that way they don't notice sudden noises so much and do provide some foraging toys or opportunities to keep him busy during the day. We have some threads in the toys and playstands room that will give you some ideas. -
This will be harder on you than it will Sully, he will be fine and happy to see you when you get back, right now only an overnight trip would be advisable until he gets a little older and if someone is coming in to check on him then you can rest easy. So sorry to hear of your father's cancer but Sully knows something is wrong and he has stepped up to help ease your pain, greys can be very emphatic, what a sweet little chap to help you thru a difficult time. I wouldn't worry about not eating much seed, do limit the sunflower seed he gets but if he eats fresh veggies, legumes, grains, rices and pastas then that is fine. The only thing I can offer as to you going away is to tell Sully what you are doing for he will understand more than what you think he does and that will help when you return as he will see you did come back, now go and don't worry.

Just let him settle in at the beginning, don't force him to do anything he isn't comfortable with, let him come out of his cage when he is ready and soon he will be wanting to join in with the family as he sees you all doing things, you might get some toys and play with them on the floor and see if it entices him to want to join in. Being 3 to 4 years old he will have some baggage so be prepared for him to unpack that as time goes on, sometimes when going to a new home they are on somewhat of better behavior like the honeymoon phase and when comfortable he will show more of his true personality but if you are patient with him it should go fairly smoothly. There are others here who will chime in with more suggestions and congrats on bringing him home this weekend, just relax and enjoy him.

What a wonderful bunch of companions, I especially love the cat since it is black, bet you have to hide it when Halloween comes, thanks for sharing some pics of your critters with us.

Thinking of bringing home a grey - help!
judygram replied to CRYROLFE's topic in Welcome & Introduction Room
Hello and welcome to our family Crystal, so glad to hear you want to add a grey to your flock and like Ray said it will take time for him to adjust to a new home but it will be worth it, just give him lots of time and patience. Please do put his cage where he will be around the rest of the family as they like to be part of the action and look forward to seeing some pictures when you get the chance. -
Diego is so adorable in this video, what a character, thanks for sharing it with us.
