  1. So sorry to hear this has happened and it is not your fault as it could have happened to any one of us but it doesn't matter what you read, it matters that you are there spending some time with her and building that trust again and she will come around in time just be patient with her and don't push for more than what she is ready to give.
  2. Please contact your neighbors and alert them to be on the lookout for your bird, put up posters in your neighborhood so people will know a bird is lost and if it shows up at their place then they will know who to call, call local vets or animal hospitals in case someone finds her and takes her there. We have some threads in the rescue room that may help with other ideas so do check them out. I hope you find her but if you do sight her again do not let her out of your sight and enlist other family members to look for her too. Also put her cage outside with the door open and food and water inside so if she happens to come back to your house she might see it and go inside. http://www.greyforums.net/forums/showthread.php?45019-Any-Lost-or-Found-Birds-In-Your-Neighborhood
  3. Sounds like a plan, please let us see what you come up with.
  4. So your bird does use it now from what you have said, thats great since you already have it but we all have been suckers at one time or another, sometimes those are the best lessons learned.
  5. Sachi is so beautiful, she really is very colorful and the way she is standing shows off her pretty colors, not to be taking away from Emma's beauty but Sachi looks very striking in that pic, thanks for sharing it with us Adina.
  6. Hello Jean and welcome to our family, we look forward to hearing lots more about you and Smoky. Be sure to read thru the many threads for lots of useful information and do ask questions you may have and we will help you in any way we can. If you have any pictures you would share with us of Smoky we would love to see him.
  7. Those who get a whole grey done have to have a pretty good sized one to show the detail but I also like the second sketch of wings, why don't you check out the tattoo artists in your area and see what they offer and what they can do as far as what you want.
  8. I think the biting will lessen when he feels more at ease with you so be patient, just don't push things right now. He will be breaking lots of toys, thats what they are supposed to do is destroy them, gives them something to occupy their mind. He is cute in that picture but you can see it in his eyes that he is wary still.
  9. She probably isn't but she will get over it in due time, maybe already has by now, some things just have to be done for their own good.
  10. Great pictures of Cocoa but she seems to hold her wings slightly lower and away from her body in the last 4 pics, is that because she is warm or resting after a bit of flying, just curious and thanks for sharing the pics with us.
  11. Thanks Rawleyd for that information, the glasses should have been the clue, oh well there is no fool like an old fool but you have to admit it was a cool commercial.
  12. You said that right, what a sweet story.
  13. That is so cool Dan, I knew they could change colors but so quickly, loved the purple one, thanks for sharing that with us as I loved it.
  14. So glad to hear the move went fine and Issac is settling into his new home, of course he has to map out his landing spots, you are a good parront Stephen.
  15. I agree with Dave they are a waste of money, I keep my house comfortable in the winter and see no need for anything like that but you know what they say, "theres one born every minute" meaning the world is full of suckers.
  16. Thanks for more pictures of Cocoa and Mocha, he really is a beauty, you know the saying, "he is so black he shines" applies to him and that yellow band on the back of his neck is striking.

    Best Diet?

I have to agree with Dan and Lyn, you cannot just let your bird eat what it wants and to do so is irresponsible, in the wild yes they eat what they find but they don't find cookies and other junk foods, they find lots of fresh things to eat and just like children we have to guide them to healthier choices, you wouldn't allow your human child to only eat junk food if that is the only thing they would eat if given the choice, its up to us as caregivers to provide the healthy choices for their nutritional needs.
  18. Excellent Dan and that last one says it all, thanks for sharing that with us and thanks Steve for starting this thread.
  19. That was an amazing video and those lucky people in the boat who witnessed it all, what precious memories they will have of one brave little penquin, thanks for sharing that with us Dan.
  20. Looks like that macaw got the better of the cat and had a wild party, they can make some of the funniest commercials and this one was a hoot, thanks for sharing it with us.
  21. Ray why don't you share some pictures of your blue fronted amazon with us, please.
  22. You did do it, now we want to see lots more pictures of Echo, thanks for sharing that one with us, he is adorable.
  23. Pipo looks beautiful, thanks for sharing the pic with us.
  24. Hello Aurora and welcome to our family, so glad to hear you have adopted a grey. Keep offering him/her the veggies and they might not be eaten at first but keep offering them for sometimes they have to get used to them if they haven't had any before. He/she will drink soon but it is just taking some time to settle into a new home. Yes it is way too early and maybe an impossibility to ever take him/her into your arms for this is an african grey and not a cockatoo, greys are not cuddle muffins and they may allow some handling but this will only happen after he/she gets used to you and learns to trust you so be patient. Please read thru as many of the threads here for lots of useful information and do ask questions you may have and we will help you in any way we can. We love pictures here so if you have some of this grey you would share with us we would love to see them.
  25. Well congrats on your new to you amazon Janet, wow you are going to have your hands full but then you are retired so you have time, looking forward to seeing and hearing all about Louie.
