You have come a long way and the journey has not been without its bumps but progress is being made and continues, who knows what tomorrow will bring but one thing is sure, he loves you all and is happy, what more could he ask for.

That was about the same with me Ray, we had a keet or two when I was growing up and like you we were way out in the country but I remember them fondly.
-
She is about as big as she is going to get, they grow quickly and reach their adult size before they wean, she might weigh a little more later but she is about as long and wide as she is going to get.

He has come a long way from when you first got him, who knows where he will be with you in a year from now, great video Janet.
-
That was very entertaining, what a beautiful bird but sad his wings were severely clipped, poor thing.

I wish I didn't live all the way across the US from you or I would consider taking one of the IRN, they have always fascinated me, I live in the country so noise is not a problem for me.

If you are the main caregiver let your husband do some of those things now and let him be the one who gives treats so he will associate good things with your husband. Let him interact with him when you are not at home, the less favored person usually gets better results if the favored one is not present when interactions occur with less favored one. He can sit by his cage and talk to him, hold conversations with him and such to show him he is not going to hurt him, he may never come to like him like he likes you but that is the way it is sometimes.
-
Thats good news, did you take him to see the vet?
-
At first I was hesitant to look but so glad I did, they look so sweet together and get along so well, that is special.

Just leave the seeds in the peppers when you feed them to Marco, just cut one into 4 pieces and give her one, she will eat the seeds if she wants. I wouldn't feed too much tomato to greys, maybe a little now and then, the seeds are ok but not the foliage. Yes I give my grey spaghetti when we have it for dinner, the portion she gets only has what sauce clings to the strands of pasta and we only have it maybe once a month or so but she really enjoys it.

The area where your baby would be able to be a part of the family, preferably the room where the family spends the most time is best, they want to be a part of what is going on and also providing places like playstands and boings where he has other options to perch and be with everyone.

Have you ever done a google search to see if any kind of rescue organization exists anywhere near where you live? You can also contact vets and any bird clubs for they would know of any but this is just in case you decide not to keep Momo but whatever you decide to do we support you.

It is a wonderful picture and I think we know who is the more dominant of the two in the pic.

Let me get this straight Nancy, you leave the house with the bird's cage doors open and the dogs in the same room, or are you saying you go about your work at home? Please clarify this for us for if you are leaving the house with this situation then you are playing with fire and the day will come that you will come home and find one of your precious birds dead and/or mutilated, this is just plain irresponsible on your part.

Three times is the charm, definitely molting.
-
There are lots of cages on ebay but harder to find ones made in the USA as sadly most are manufactured in foreign countries like China, contact the companies and ask.
-
A general body molt will last several weeks but the tail and wing feathers will molt out at different times during the year, usually the same ones on both sides so the bird is capable of flight. When those pin feathers come in they can be irritating hence they can be grumpy during molts so bathing is even more important and misting with aloe vera juice can be soothing to their skin.

Hello Carolinn and welcome to our family and kudos to you for giving Buddy a new forever home. Not to worry, you have only had him for one week and it is still the honeymoon phase right now, once he settles in and feels more comfortable in his new home he will open up and be more vocal, he is taking everything in right now and getting to know his new territory. Just give him time and be very patient with him as this process takes place. Is this your first grey, your first bird? We love pictures here so if you have some of Buddy you would share with us we would love to see him.

My grey has a cage similar to this one, I especially like it because it has a playtop on the side, she spends quite a lot of time on it, I like this style of cage and it seems roomy enough. Mine is reversed from this one, it has the playtop on the right side not the left.

The chip is usually put in the breast area. I commend you for taking the time to try and find this bird's owner, they must be heartbroken not knowing if he is alive and well, lets hope his owner is found sooner rather than later.
-
You have been given some excellent advice and I have to agree that in Momo's best interests you should try to find him another home as it is hard enough for a novice grey owner to handle a handfed grey but one that is wild caught is a challenge for even those who have experience, it is not a sign that you failed him but he is too much for you to handle. I wish there was such a place where you live like the one I visited in my state, it is a huge enclosure with part of it screened that is open in the spring, summer and fall for them to have plenty of room to fly, exercise and climb trees with one another. It has everything to make it like being out in the forest in their natural habitat and they have plenty of room to interact with one another without being cramped. Like Dave said it is full of greys who are not adaptable, former breeder birds and such so they can live out their natural lives in peace.

Getting excited, but the waiting stinks.

Hello ZulusMom and welcome to our family, I am so glad to hear you are ready for another grey. I am so sorry you lost your first grey but things happen for a reason even though we don't understand it and now Zulu is coming into your life and I know he/she will be so loved and taken care of. Its good you are taking this time to learn all you can and be prepared and I am sure things will go swimmingly when that big day arrives when Zulu joins you in your home. Yes waiting can be very difficult, like waiting for Christmas morning to come but it will be here soon and then the fun begins, please do share some pictures when you get some. -
Ah the country life, how I remember, thanks for the memories Dave.

Looks to me like Willo is getting good variety of foods but I am going to point out a couple that you should eliminate since they have very little nutritional value and they are cucumber and red lettuce, also you should substitute sweet potatoes for the white potatoes as they have more vitamins in them. The eggs should be limited to once or twice a week and of course you know she shouldn't have the ham as it contains too much salt. A chicken leg bone is good nutrition also just make sure it is baked and not fried. Go easy on the sunflower seeds, in fact if she loves them use them for treats when training, go easy on fruit, in fact don't feed it every day as it is loaded with sugar and make sure she has a good pellet to keep in a bowl at all times for her to nibble on. Grains and legumes are good and if you have ever tried sprouting those are excellent for them. You don't have to stick with certain times too feed her as they usually browse and eat all during the day in the wild.
