    Sleepy

That was adorable of him laying there and allowing you to tuck him in, he is precious.

    He's Home!!

That first pic of a tiel that Jay posted is almost an exact match to my Gypsy, she has that pearl just about all over her and has that barbing that Ray mentioned, I don't have to have her dna'd to know she is a female. The feathers that she molts out are gorgeous and I have saved a lot of them.
  3. Be sure to watch out for those lovely purple poops that will come with eating fresh beets as some have been frightened into thinking their bird was bleeding, Josey will be enjoying some fresh ones out of our garden soon.
  4. Congrats Shana you have done well for yourself but you are young yet and have plenty of time to get your grey so wait a while for things to settle down and you get into a routine where you know you will have enough time to spend with your grey, its not all about being able to afford the pet but giving it the time and attention he/she deserves.
  5. Lola is a beautiful grey and time has brought out her true personality since she has settled into her new home and has got comfortable in her new surroundings, more wonderful things will be coming as she masters her vocabulary and remember she only has to hear it one time to be repeated back, she looks like a real sweetheart.
  6. The thing to remember is you are not alone in this disorder as you have plenty of company, sometimes it seems we have such overwhelming obstacles to deal with on a daily basis and some handle it better than others, no harm in admitting you need help as we all do need some at one time or another so if you feel the need to vent then by all means unload on us as we are her to listen and not judge.

    He's Home!!

Not to worry for that will resolve itself in time, my tiel was scared of hands at first too and that may have been because the only cage I had for her at the time was a cage with a small type door so to get her out I had to catch her with my hands which didn't help the situation any but once I got her a new bigger cage that she could step up on my hand to exit she was better about my hands and in time she steps up just fine for me and Piper will too, you know the drill.
  8. Aw she loves him, that was sweet though I doubt that Piper thought so, it will be interesting to see how it goes between the two of them.
  9. Yes just like us they need some direct sun to benefit from but like Jay stated they need the option of getting into some shade while outside so they don't get overheated.
  10. So sorry for your loss Marguerite, no doubt countless people have lost their lives due to such stupidity, they are in such a hurry to go somewhere they never realize what that one little moment costs, their lives and sadly other people's lives, what a tragedy.
  11. Sometimes we have to use a little ingeniuty to get our fids to eat what we want them to, clever girl Heather and I see Bird eating healthier more and more often now that you know how to make that happen.
  12. I assume you have looked into what requirements there are for bringing pets into the state of Hawaii for I have relatives who used to live there and they had to quarantine their dog for 3 months before they could bring him into their home after they moved, don't know if things have changed now or what it would be for bringing a pet bird into the state but no other state is as careful about what is brought in than Hawaii.

    He's Home!!

I've been told that boys whistle and girls do not so this one has to be a boy. About the spots, my Gypsy is covered with spots, I think they call it pearl and she has it on her tail also. I know he is going to become a much loved part of the flock.

    He's Home!!

He is a cutie and it is a he if he is whistling, mine does not whistle and I am pretty sure mine is a she. Just give him plenty of time to settle in and feel comfortable and he will step up for you pretty soon.
  15. Dee, I hate to burst your bubble but the picture is turned sideways, LOL, but the idea of a vertical perch is a good one.
  16. Sometimes a preferred treat works well to entice a reluctant grey to return to their cage, be sure to let her see you put it in her cage.
  17. Hello Lisa and welcome to our family. Thanks so much for giving Rosie a new forever home, the others have given you some sound advice but it seems you already know it will be a long road with many small steps, time and patience will win her heart. One year sounds like a long time but not to a grey who has been passed around and has learned that humans are not to be trusted but she hadn't met you yet, I bet one year from now things will be so much better so be sure to share that journey with us. We always welcome pictures especially if you have some of her when you first got her and now.
  18. You have a beautiful grey, Brandi is adorable.

  19. What a greyt looking grey, Brandi is adorable with those dark eyes, what a sweetheart she is, thanks for sharing them with us.
  20. Gracie is such a ham, she is working it for the camera, you are gonna have to keep a sharp eye on her, Ijust want to grab her up and squeeze.
  21. Gosh Ray you have a horny little devil there in Willie, I feel for Little One to have him on her back so much, are you sure you aren't slipping him some little blue pills! JK
  22. I believe I have seen that video before but I love it how those two amazons are gabbing away like women will do, oh and to set the record straight, men can be motor mouths also, thanks for sharing Dave.
  23. Hello Heather and welcome to our family. So glad you could give Bird a new forever home and as most rehomes do bring some baggage with them be sure to ask those questions you have and we will do our best to help you in any way we can. Pictures are always welcomed.

    Supplements?

It does take a while for a full set of flight feathers to all come in as they are usually replaced in stages. Since he has been in several former homes it is possible he is hand shy and doesn't want to perch, rehomed greys carry a lot of baggage with them that they collected from their previous homes and it is hard to work thru that but time and patience will be your best friends. I do give my grey some red palm oil every day, you can add it to other foods or drizzle it over pellets or his seed mix, I stir a little in some oatmeal that my grey eats from a spoon, she gobbles it right up.
  25. Its a boy, its a boy, congrats on your new fella and sure would love to see some pictures.
