We had all new windows and doors put on last year and she didn't pick up any of those sounds so hopefully she won't be repeating these she hears today but I will let you know if she does, it is the quietest she has ever been, not a peep out of her.

Josey has had her early morning chatting routine disrupted today as we have workers here taking off the old and putting on a new roof after it was damaged in that derecho we had earlier this summer. She has been sitting quietly on one of her perches just listening to the racket of scraping, hammering and such that is going on today. I had to work at home so someone would be here, looks like it might go into tomorrow finishing up, bet she gets more vocal after they leave, she might make up for lost time who knows.:rolleyes:

Hello Diana and welcome to our family, glad to hear you are wanting to add a grey to your household. They are awesome creatures as you probably already know, they are known to be some of the greatest talkers but they have so much to offer even if they never utter a word as you will find out. So glad to hear you are doing the research before plunging in as it is best to know what you are getting into so you won't be surprised, not everyone does this and then so many end up needing a new home, not something we like here and can be prevented so easily by doing the fact finding. I look forward to hearing more about your quest for the grey.

Hello Brad and welcome to our family, you have a very beautiful grey there in Keeco, what a handsome fella. Thats wonderful he has had an opportunity to play with another fellow grey, not many of us have that available to us but take advantage of it and its great they get along. Thanks for including pictures in your intro post as we usually have to ask for them but feel free to share any or all you like with us as we never tire of looking at them.

Nice video of Skippy and I noticed you petting him down the back and those noises are what he makes when he is getting sexually aroused and you would be wise to not do that when it makes him lower his wings, he will only get frustrated because there is no way he can get satisfied and its not fair to get him all hot and bothered only to leave him high and dry, he might start biting you because he wants more. Its better to direct his attention elsewhere, tell him thanks but no thanks, you love him but not in that way and let him settle down. I think its wonderful he has taken to you in such a short time, many people have to wait a long time to achieve even close to the same results, you must be doing something right.

Hello Steve and welcome to our family, just wanted to say hi and others will be along shortly to offer you some advice but thanks so much for giving this bird a new forever home.

I am so sorry to hear of Xandir's passing, even though he was not in your care anymore the pain still hurts deeply, he will never be forgotten but he flies free of pain now over the Rainbow Bridge, please accept my deepest sympathy on your loss.

I can't whistle but my hubby can and he whistles to Josey from time to time, he was the one who taught her the wolf whistle, I knew that was bull crap that if you teach them to whistle they won't talk, its just part of their daily life.

One of our members has an awesome birdroom that she decorated herself and put all kinds of things in for her birds, check out fidsandfrats' posts to see what she did.

With a face like that I doubt that anyone messes with him especially those cats, love your cats btw, I am partial to cats myself, thanks for sharing them with us.

Hello Lindsey and welcome to our family, better late than never I say. Your birds are adorable, Jagermeister is so cute with that feather on his head and he knows it, I look forward to seeing more pictures of these two. So glad to hear you could give this eclectus a new forever home where she is well cared for and loved, now she can feel safe and will continue to blossom.

You don't mention any pellets, he needs to be provided some pellets at all times. The bowl of parrot mix is good but you need to include more veggies in his morning and evening bowls, celery doesn't have much in the way of nutrition and the other things you are feeding are fruits, they do not need much fruit so give those every other day or so. Try giving carrots, peas, green beans, leafy green vegetables like kale, mustard, beet tops and collards. Sweet potatoes, squash, peppers, broccoli are good to give, also you can give him some cooked beans, rices and other legumes along with the veggies, a little pasta occasionally is popular. Yes peanuts are ok as long as they are the unsalted kind and other nuts are fine to feed too, pecans, walnuts and such. A little protein now and then is good, a little cooked chicken, some egg and even a chicken bone, they crack open the bone and eat the marrow inside.

Just saw this and had to share, guess who wins! http://now.msn.com/kitten-and-parrot-battle-on-the-couch

So glad to hear you have Jake home already and it is going fine, he is a cute little bugger and no wonder you both are head over heals for him, how one little feathered creature can capture our hearts so profoundly, looking forward to seeing more pics of Jake.

I love that stance Ruby has taken to the Ice Bat, yes it works for a while then you have to move on to something new and frightening, have you provided some strips of wood she can chew to her hearts content.
-
That is so cute and just melted your heart, they can be so sweet and cuddly at this age, hope you have some kind of soft thing she can cuddle up to in her enclosure as it makes them feel like there is another sibling with her and she won't feel alone. Yes by all means if she will let you slightly file down the tip so they are not so sharp will be fine, I know how shart they can be as my arms are proof of it.

Hello Pcwhite and welcome to our family, so glad you found us. Coco is sure one good looking Tag from the pic you shared, feel free to post more if you have them as we always love to see pics. How old is he, how long have you had him, have any other birds? I see you live in London, wouldn't want to be there right now with the Olympics going on, it must be crazy in town about now.

Hello Alexis and welcome to our family, so glad you found us. We usually don't like to see people get unweaned birds, thats better left to those who are experienced with it but it looks like you are doing fine with your baby. Be sure to read thru some of the threads in the nursery room for lots of advice as so much can go wrong but do not hesitate to ask questions you may have and we will help you in any way we can. Stormy is adorable and growing quickly, she will be starting to try other foods so introduce them to her and see what happens. We always welcome pictures so if you have more you would share with us please do so.

That is wonderful news, what a scare he gave you but you handled it well, I have no doubt he loves you very much. Yes we all should have a few things on hand at all times to deal with such an emergency for we never know when it will be needed. Now don't make yourself a stranger again now that the crisis is over.
-
The 24 x 36 size cage on that link would be a better one for a grey, they need plenty of room for toys and to be able to flap their wings and not touch the sides.
-
Yes that is much too small, it should be big enough that she can open her wings and flap without touching the sides.

Hello Robert and welcome to our family, so glad you could realize your dream of having another grey. Even though I really hope it is not the case I am glad you are considering the fact that Lola might be a stolen bird, dropping the price like that is surely suspicious but I will be praying that you just got yourself a great deal on a wonderful bird. She is a beautiful bird at that and you are very lucky she seems to want to go to everyone as most will not, she has been socialized thats for sure.
-
Sometimes it helps to offer a reward for someone may have found him and might think of keeping him but the best advice is to keep looking and never give up. I hope Alvaro is found soon and returned safe and sound.

Hello Alnoble89 and welcome to our family and congrats on your new baby grey. Sassy has given you a couple of links to good threads to read and be sure to look thoroughly thru the nursery room for lots of helpful information, handfeeding can be a tricky thing which in most cases is best left to those who know how and do it on a regular basis, too much can go wrong if you are not careful. Your baby is adorable, they are so special when this young and it will be fascinating to watch him/her grow up into a fully feathered bird, be sure to share more pics as he/she grows so we can see the development, babies hold a special place in our hearts and we cannot get enough of them for they grow so fast.

It looks like you have another bird lover in the works with Emily and how she is doing with Navroh, she looks confident working with him and he is adorable, I too look forward to seeing and hearing a lot more from Navroh.
