  1. Yes you have gone missing from greyforums for a while but I have kept up with you on facebook and knew you had more babies so get back to posting and I so enjoy watching the babies.
  2. Please let us know what you find out and I hope all is going to be fine.
  3. I especially loved the way he said artichokeeeeeeeeeeee and that got an itch, he is quite a ham when he gets going, giggle giggle jungle chicken, he must keep you in stitches.
  4. Yes it is time if she is losing weight and you are concerned, better to be safe than sorry, hopefully the news will be good.
  5. Thats amazing Ray, I knew they could talk but that is a big vocabulary for one small keet, thanks Ray.
  6. What a funny bird and does he mimic your laugh? Josey mimics mine and it is hilarious to hear your own laugh like that, thanks for sharing it with us.
  7. Mabel is precious and no doubt you could go on for a long time doing those scratches as she loved it.
  8. Dave is right, you can buy those type carriers at pet stores, granted they probably won't have the grated top door but they will serve the purpose nicely and because they were designed for dogs and cats which are more plentiful they are cheaper, you can easily install some type of perch if you don't want your grey standing on the floor.
  9. It sounds like she is doing great but don't worry about her sitting on the edge of her bowl to sleep, I imagine you have other perches for her to sit on but for some reason she prefers there right now, do you have a boing in her cage as there is where my grey sleeps and she has other perches she can sit on. Doesn't surprise me about the reindeer thing for they quickly figure out how to manipulate things to make them work, after all she has plenty of time to practice, you may be moving that reindeer soon I bet. It doesn't take long to take a sip or two of water so I imagine she is getting her water when you are not watching, after all you can't watch her 24 hours a day and she may not have been after the water from your finger but the taste from your skin, even the salt on it. I hope she gets a clean bill of health from the vet tonight, be sure to let us know.
  10. Sorry to hear of your back troubles but what a moment you had with Phenix, he knew you had been in pain and he just wanted to make you feel better and boy did he, you must have been on cloud nine when you woke up to find him preening your hair, bet you just wanted to stay there in that moment for the longest time to savor every second for I know of your history with him. They can be very emphatic when the occasion presents itself and I know you will cherish that moment for the rest of your life. Thanks Val for sharing that story with us.
  11. Wow and we talk about our messy greys, I can imagine that these two birds do indeed make a mess as I can see from the wall, when you only eat mostly fruit it does get messy and it keeps you busy just trying to keep the wall clean much less the paper on the bottom of the cage, bet you go thru a lot of newspaper. I had no idea they ate that much every day, then the phrase "eat like a bird" does not apply for toucans/aracaris for they can put away some food. Thanks Sara for enlightening us on their dietary habits for I never knew that about them, just thought they were a different type of bird but wow are they different, their digestive tracts are so fast how do they get any nutrients from their food if it goes thru them immediately, oh well I will admire them from a distance as they are not the bird for me but you go Sara.
  12. I am so very sorry to hear of your loss of Zulu, you waited in anxious anticipation for your baby's homecoming that never came because his life was cut too short, just not meant to be but hopefully in time you can open your heart for another grey, be it a baby or a rescue, these things happen as it is apparent on this forum with other's losses of their young ones, your heart is heavy right now but you have much love to give, again so sorry about your loss.
  13. Wow an early talker, some wait until they are a year old or even older before uttering their first word but Keeco just couldn't wait I guess, you have a fast learner.

    Wood

Josey loves to tear up paper and you would think she was eating it but she rolls bits of it up with her tongue and "chews" on it for a while then drops it, like the others said he is not eating the wood, he is tearing it up and playing with it.
  15. Dave is exactly right, no beak trimming unless absolutely necessary.

    Normal?

Its the newness of the whole thing, I imagine in time you will settle down and not question every thing she does and soon you will be one of us handing out our experiences to calm yet another newbie to greys, now go to bed and get some sleep!
  17. What a beautiful bird and outside enjoying the fresh air and sunshine, thanks for sharing them with us.
  18. Sarah, I am so sorry to hear about Vai, she had a short life but was loved none the less, I suspect she was already sick when you brought her home and you should have a necropsy done to determine the cause for the other birds in that store might be infected by the same thing, again please accept my condolenses on your loss.
  19. Nancy I am sure they will all adjust to the changes going on in the household, I have no experience with zons but it seems all you have said about Kiki is usual behavior for them so enjoy her antics and don't let it upset you, roll with the punches.
  20. Wow Christmas came a little early huh, congrats on getting Neytiri home and she looks wonderful especially those red feathers on her back, what a pretty thing she is and you two are going to have so much fun getting to know one another, welcome to the rest of your life together.
  21. My grey has done the same thing and she is 6 years old, it sounds like yours is old enough to be a mature grey.
  22. I hope she is going to be fine but do keep us informed and keep your cool for you will be of no use to her if you freak out, these things happen and if you are freaking out then it is going to upset Vai too, I will be keeping you both in my thoughts that all will be ok.
  23. It sounds like she is sexually aroused, the lowering of the wings while making those little whimpers is definitely signs she is sexually stimulated, do not rub her down the back, under the wings or anywhere near her tail area when she is like this and just tell her thank you but no thanks and walk away for a bit. You don't want to encourage this as she will only get frustrated and then may bite because she doesn't get any satisfaction from it, just keep the touching to the head and neck until she gets thru this phase.
  24. Daddy's little helper, does she type faster than you, bet she wants to rip those keys off.
  25. You can also purchase vet wrap and it comes in many different colors to wrap the bars, it will give a good grip when she gets on it, just google it, usually associated with horses.
