  1. Who knows that owl may just be enjoying his shower for that expression is the same if he is happy or not.
  2. They say pumpkin is the new bacon so Josey will get her own pumpkin this week, I am convinced.
  3. It sounds like a match made in heaven, thats great that even though she has chosen your husband as her favorite she still favors you too, she may only do certain things for him but you have seen that she can have different relationships with each person in the household. I can almost hear her chattering away on her high perch while basking in the sunlight, you are truly blessed.
  4. What a cutie pie she is and just a baby with those dark eyes, you are going to love the rest of your life with her. Yes they all want to go to the shoulder, I would for the time being keep her off until you know her better, I do allow Josey on my shoulder but I can trust her and she doesn't go after ears, eyes and such, it is a priviledge that has to be earned and if she turns out to be one that constantly goes after ears and such then its best to keep her off, it is a personal choice.

    Egg Laying

Dave has given you some good suggestions for things to ask about before deciding to take this grey and only you know if you can handle it or not, please find out all you can so you can make the best decision for you and the bird.
  6. I know you said there were no vets in your location but where is the nearest one? I assume it would be some distance but this should really be looked at and no one here is a vet. What is "bird sealers"?
  7. Its always good to get away now and then, even though we love our fids to death but we need a break and its so good to find someone who does a good job, now you know you can do it again when the time comes and not fret about it.
  8. Ivan is a very handsome fella, he does a good pose for the camera, thanks for sharing them with us.
  9. This is amazing how after all this time the owner is found and just when you thought she was yours, I think letting her decide who she stays with is good even though she is rightfully the owner's bird, its good you two could decide on that so a bittersweet meeting it will be.
  10. Well now you might just have to get another one so they each can swing at the same time, peace at last, thanks for sharing the wonderful pics with us, what lucky fids.
  11. That was scary and my heart would have been in my throat as well if I were in your place, of course you have to get the compatible alarms for you can't put a price on your beloveds, think of it as money well spent.
  12. At least the misspelling is not in the signature, it looks nice.
  13. I always enjoy telling non bird people that my grey eats chicken bones, they think its cannibalism or just plain weird, sort of freaks them out.
  14. I think she likes to smell your grey from the looks of the picture, adorable.
  15. I just bet you were grinning from ear to ear, it does make a body feel all warm and fuzzy inside to know your grey wants to be with you.
  16. You have a beautiful bird and yes some talk early and some talk later, Josey was about 1 year of age before she said any words but once they start it gets better and better so enjoy and thanks for sharing the pics.
  17. It is a habit now since you have had him to the vets and he gave him the clean bill of health, you know its nothing physical for the plucking and so many do as a result of stress. I sense that this situation stresses you and he is picking up on that, you might as well accept the fact that he is a plucker no matter what you do to try to prevent it, if it upsets you to see it then leave the room he is in and vent somewhere else so he doesn't see how upset you are. Many greys and other birds pluck and are happy and content with themselves, just continue to provide outlets for him to tear up other things besides his feathers. Looking forward to seeing your grey.
  18. I think you will find you have made the best decision and a year from now she will be getting around and hanging with the best of them, she is lucky to have you and you will wonder how you could ever had even considered not keeping her. There are some older threads here with some information about handicapped greys for we do have some members who have adopted them and the one thing they all comment on is they learn how to get around like they had no handicap so Whitney's time is coming.
  19. When one door closes another one opens and Rikki found her new forever home and it just goes to show it takes time, lots of time but it pays off handsomely.
  20. Thanks so much Paul for letting us know Pepper has a new forever home, you don't know how many times this has happened and we never know the outcome.
  21. Thanks Val for putting it so eloquently for us and that says it all in your last statement.
  22. I am guilty too, has anyone heard their bird say "bird turd" oh yes Josey has said that loud and clear.
  23. Those slippers were looking pretty good until you mentioned a net, nayh still want them, has anyone found where we might purchase them?
  24. Like someone else said sometimes you take one step forward and two back and it seems to be this way for you and Gilbert but you have come a long way with him and when it all equals out you have come forward more than you have had to step back. Yes its taken you two a long time but he has had a log of baggage to work thru and you are patient with him which is what he needs.
  25. We all deal with the little white fluffs every day.
