  1. I DON'T KNOW WHO IS BEHAVING IN SUCH A CHILDLIKE MANNER AND 'STEALING' KARMA, BUT I THINK IT IS TIME TO STEP UP TO THE PLATE AND EXPLAIN YOURSELF. I AM VERY UPSET AT WHAT I AM WITNESSING HERE, I HAVE KNOWN SPOOKYHURST FOR OVER 3 YEARS FROM ANOTHER BIRD FORUM AND HERE AS WELL . I HAVE SEEN OVER 8000 OF HER POSTS, AND YOU WILL NEVER FIND A KINDER, MORE RESPECTED PERSON THAN SHE IS. SHE IS ALWAYS POSITIVE, NEVER JUDGMENTAL, NEVER INSULTING IN ANY WAY. SHE IS HELPFUL, SHE SHARES HER IDEAS AND ADVICE WITH US. I FEEL LUCKY TO HAVE HER HERE AS A MEMBER OF OUR FAMILY. SHE DESERVES TO BE TREATED AS SHE TREATS EVERYONE HERE. JUST BECAUSE SHE CLIPPED HER BIRDS WINGS FOR IT'S OWN SAFETY AND HARMONY OF HER HOME, JUDGING HER? HAVE YOU EVEN WALKED IN HER SHOES FOR A MINUTE WITH ANY THOUGHT AS TO HOW HARD A DECISION THAT WAS FOR HER? I KNOW HOW HARD THAT DECISION WAS FOR HER, AND IF YOU EVEN BOTHERED TO READ HER PAST POSTS, YOU WOULD LEARN HOW DEEPLY SHE FELT THAT NIKKO BE ALLOWED FREE FLIGHT IN HER HOME. IT IS NOT ANYONE'S PLACE TO PASS JUDGMENT ON HER, YOU DON'T REALLY KNOW HER CIRCUMSTANCES, NOR DO YOU DESERVE TO. SHE SHOULDN'T HAVE TO EXPLAIN HERSELF TO US. AS FAR AS SHANLUNG LOSING KARMA? I HAVE NEVER MET A MORE GIVING MEMBER. HE COMES HERE WITH HIS PROVEN WAYS, HIS WEALTH OF EXPERIENCE, AND SHARES IT WITH US FOR FREE. DOESN'T 'SELL' HIS KNOWLEDGE. HE VERY WELL COULD BE GREEDY LIKE OTHERS, AND SELL HIS TECHNIQUES, BUT HE CHOOSES TO SHARE WITH THE BIRD WORLD. WHAT A GIVING MAN. BOTH THESE MEMBERS DESERVE OUR RESPECT, KARMA, AND POSTS ARE THE ONLY WAY TO DO THAT. SO WHO EVER IS TAKING KARMA AWAY, SPEAK UP AND SHARE YOU REASONS, WE WILL LISTEN, DON'T HIDE BEHIND A THUMBS DOWN.... SINCERELY, TALON/ADMIN
  2. I do...I'll send you an email.
  3. I just made a sloppy version of the Starbucks toy. Talon loved it!! She also loves to chew on the cardboard covers!
  4. I admire you for your honesty, and for realizing fairly quickly that he is not in his forever home. He needs to find that home next, and I would take him in a heartbeat, but I am on the other side of the US. I hope and pray that you find his lifetime home very soon. Please let me know if there is anything I can do to help. My prayers are with you all.
  5. Because her wings are clipped, she will fly downwards. She is young and because she is clipped, it appears she has yet to have the opportunity to learn how to properly fly and land. One of my greys has been clipped when I got her, and she has never had the opportunity to learn how to properly fly as well. Her landings are hard, and sometimes she crash lands, or skids. She is 3 years old, and I am letting her wings grow out, but because of her landings, she damages her flight feathers and they fall out....
  6. This is such an informative thread thanks to all our experts here. You all have my deepest respect...Dave, Dan, and Shanlung! B)
  7. There's not enough room on this forum to say all the things I Love about Talon & Rikki!
  8. Thank you, I am sooo relieved!! Now that you are part of our family here, when you get time, we would love to see a picture of Mr. Tiki and hear more about him and your story! Karma for you and all you are doing for this rescued grey. I am also curious, how did you manage to capture it from the tree. It's a difficult task getting a bird down out of a tree!
  9. I don't believe a bird, especially a grey, would forget their family. I hope you don't give this bird to her without better proof!

    LEFTOVERS

All I have to say about myself and leftovers...is DUH?! Why do I throw it in the trash and not give it to the wild birds? Sometimes the most logical thought is just not in my brain! :pinch:
  11. You are so right Dan! Actually getting that bird down OUT of the tree is the biggest challenge we face.....
  12. Carolyn, That was an excellent post! Very nicely written, and very much true! Karma for you!!
  13. Sandra..that is a very interesting link! Thanks for sharing that with us. Karma for you!!
  14. My 2 cents worth: I like to think that MOST people are not that selfish and heartless. Yes, there are greedy people out there that would keep that beautiful parrot they managed to capture, but after some time, I think maybe they may be clueless and give that bird up to due the demands and needs of that bird. I like to think there are people out there like me, and our new member, who would do everything humanly possible, that would explore ALL avenues to keep that bird from loosing the only family it knows, and try to find his owners. There are a lot of GOOD people out there that WOULD pay the $$ to have that bird scanned. It wouldn't matter to me if it was free or not. I would still make it a point to scan it no matter how much I wanted it. Too be that selfish, to find a bird or any animal, and just keep it without making any effort to find it's home is heartbreaking..... I know that there are people out there like Dave mentioned, but I also like to believe it is the minority. MY dog came to me micro-chipped. I have numerous pets over the years, never had them micro-chipped, and let me tell you, that to know, that if he ever got lost and was brought to an animal shelter, police station or vet, in my state, the first thing they do IS scan them. It is a comfort to me knowing there is a CHANCE he would be brought home to his loving family. Without it, he would be lost forever to us.

  16. Nice idea! I like this..Karma for you!! B)
  17. I do use a hair dryer in the same room with both my greys and have for 3 years. It doesn't seem to bother them.
  18. One more interesting link...... http://www.crittersonthings.com/microchipping.htm
  19. Just found this link... http://www.animalresearch.info/en/medical/veterinary/birdmicrochip
  20. WOW! After reading this thread. http://www.greyforums.net/forums/rescue-room/110257-found-cag.html#110362 Imagine how nice it would be for the family and this lost grey if he was micro-chipped and he was returned to his loving family? Reading something like this really makes you give micro-chipping your bird, a second thought. Although my thoughts have always been, MY birds will never get out and escape...no need to micro-chip...I must say I am having second thoughts....
