  1. I wouldn't worry about it. My birds have done the same thing. If it becomes a habit and you see it happening a lot, then you may have other issues. But my guess is your fine.
  2. Hi George, Talon started very young also, so I'm not sure of the answer...
  3. Nilah is 8 months old... Her favorite thing to say is....."I WANT TO GO TO STARBUCKS!!! "
  4. Judy, she did get a picture of it, I will have her post it. Yesterday, I was gone for the day visiting my sister and my father for fathers day, and my kids were gone visiting their dad. The birds were alone in their cages from 12pm until I got home around 7 om. When I walked in the house, Nilah was screaming 'BIRD!, HI BIRD!!" over and over, louder and louder...she wouldn't shut-up! So I went into my living room to look in the den at them. Well....................Nilah had somehow unlatched her snack bowl door, climbed out thru it, up to the top of her cage, across the top...onto the window pane, which was hanging off the window balancing...and she was hanging off. Wood chewed everywhere.........she had knocked the wireless modem onto the floor, chewed up the wooden window pane also. Wood was all over the love seat which is next to her cage!! What a mess... Boy, was she proud of herself!!!
  5. Below is a picture of 2 items that Nilah got herself into trouble with. The ring she managed to get stuck around her neck one day when I was at work and Nilah was on her tree stand in the living room while my daughter was watching tv. She called me at work, told me not to panic, but that Nilah had this ring around her neck under her feathers and wouldn't let my daughter get it off. (the latest fashion in amazons ya know) My daughter was afraid that Nilah would get caught on something until I got home. So, I instructed her to get a straw and try and give it to Nilah, but play a little game of tug-o-war with her while she snuck up her other hand and quickly pulled it over her head and off of her. Well, it worked!! The small bead was one of many in a toy that she managed to get loose and didn't want to let go. I was afraid she would swallow it....so I removed the toy..
  6. Welcome to the club! Talon & Rikki have been doing that for a couple of years... What fun!!!!
  7. Happy Father's Day to all Dad's. Hope you guys have a great day!
  8. Happy Birthday Jay! You make sure you share that cake with your flock!
  9. Jess, yes it is very sad when ANY member chooses to leave for whatever reason. I personally get very sad when I see that happen. Threads get locked for many different reasons, some which you may or may not understand. Iit is never my desire to lock a thread. But when members are name calling and making accusations against other members and the mood of the forum turns to more negative issues which don't pertain to the reason most of us are here (birds), then we are forced to shut it down before further harm is done. When that isn't done before things get out of hand, then members get mad, hurt and upset and decide to leave. There are many forums on the internet that aren't monitored or let members bash each other, foul language is allowed, etc. We at Greyforums prefer to run this forum in a different manner. Some will like it here and some will not. Over the years as admin, I have found that no matter how hard I try, I can't please everyone, so I do the best I can. There is much that goes on behind the scenes in trying to handle much of the things that hurt others who decide to leave, sometimes my hard work pays off and sometimes it doesn't. Members choose to leave because they aren't used to the way forums are, they have a hard time not taking posts, comments, etc personally and they decide to sadly leave..... I hope that gives you a glimpse into why things are the way they are around here. But as for not allowing someone to voice their opinion, that never was and never is the case. As I CONTINUALLY state in many messages when things get out of hand and in many pm's when a member feels hurt and contacts me. EVERY member is important, EVERY member has something special to add to this forum, EVERY member is valued, EVERY member is cared about, EVERY member is free to voice their opinion (without hurting another) and EVERY member deserves to be treated with respect. I try very my best to see that those things happen.

  11. Please DO NOT PM Jayd, Maggie or Spock regarding this thread. Posted as per my request based on some things that have been brought to my attention. Thank you!
  12. I think this was a wonderful suggestion! One that was meant with the utmost respect and admiration. Everyone in the Family has something special to offer and bring to the forum. It is always wonderful when it get s noticed by others. Thank you Jayd, Maggie & Spock. We all love you! You are always so thoughtful!!
  13. Happy Birthday! Enjoy your day!! :)

  14. Yes, they will be fine living in the same home together, but not in the same cage! There is no way to predict if they will or will not get long. But they will tolerate each other once they realize neither is going anywhere.

    Spock's Back!

    What wonderful news!!!
  16. What great pictures! I love your family....they are beautiful, thanks for sharing!!
  17. I LOve this thread. Thank you luparrots for starting it. Gosh knows we needed some upbeat threads around here.....let's keep the momentum going. I am still recuperating from my dance recital, nothing too exciting here......except my daughter finally decided to go shooting with us last night. She shot a Ruger Redhawk Talon 22cal and a Glock 26 9 mm. Boy was she accurate! I'm quite proud of her, as my children were brought up to be fearful of guns and even water pistols...
  18. Awww. Looks like your hubby has his own pet now......tell him to start thinking of names....
  19. Talon is a timneh. I'm ashamed to say I haven't weighed her in a while, (but will when she gets up this am) At last weigh-in, she was 316 grams. She will be 5 years old in a few months:)
  20. When you get up to go to the gym at 4:45am so you can give your birds out of cage time before you have to go to work for the day...
  21. Any updates?Has he seen the vet yet?
  22. OMG!!! You described NILAH to a tee!!! She is always content to play on her own, sings, never yells! But boy, let me tell you, she can run faster than anything, It's a riot to see her take off across the living room floor looking for me. She'll chase after me into the kitchen soooo fast!!
  23. I LOVE it! What a great idea!! Thanks for sharing this with us!
