This just happened to Ceasar to.. He took trying to fly yesterday and messed up a couple of "new" flight feathers on his left wing.. It didn't look like to bothered him much thought.. I straighted out the feather best I could and this morning you couldn't tell there was a problem.... These things happen...

Yeah.. Just leave it Beccy.. Brian will sort it out.. .

First off.. I am sorry you are joining under such sad times.. I wish you well in your search. We have had other members also lose their birds.. Some have found them again so don't give up hope on this. I am not sure what you are asking in your post so can you restate it for us? Are you asking if anyone here has found your Grey and if you can connect with them? i think that's what you mean.. I'm so sorry for you my friend....

Post edited by: CeasarsDad, at: 2007/07/10 14:57

Fairy, There have been lots of bugs like that coming and going.. Last night we had like 15 visitors and all of a sudden it started ticking up and up and up.. It ended up at around 68 visitors.. Then it started ticking down again.. Go figure..

Oh boy...here we go....

Is it me or am I missing something here in this discussion? First let me tell you I had a 6 foot long 12 inch round Boa Constrictor. From a pet standpoint.. It's the dumbest pet I ever had.. Unless of course you are the type that loves to see it kill and eat.. Which by the way is one of the reasons people buy snakes.. and don't be mistaken by that.. They get a thrill at watching it kill. There will often be debates of these forums as to what snake is the best KILLER .. Not me brother.. Not any more... To even put a snake and an African Grey in the same paragraph is so far off the mark it's incredible.. I almost think this thread is a joke.. Forgive me as I am not looking to start any Snake flame war..

Post edited by: CeasarsDad, at: 2007/07/10 03:39

OK Tari.. Here ya go.. This is the story of the bird, Hercules… Its because of Hercules that I am here in the first place.. I had just finished doing a seminar for some automotive tradesmen.. I was standing outside answering questions about the nights topic when all of a sudden I heard a PLOP.. A baby Starling had falled from her nest and crashed onto the cement.. It must have been a 10 foot fall for the little guy… I thought for sure that she was dead.. As I approached I noticed that this baby was still breathing. I pick her up and after a short time she started moving again.. Amazing I thought.. How tough this baby was.. How it wanted to live.. I tried to get the baby back into her nest but that was impossible.. So after trying to get one of the other guys to take this baby home.. I was left with the task… I had no idea about anything regarding how to hand raise a European Starling.. So on the way home I called my wife and told her to look on the internet and see if she could find something on how to raise a baby bird.. The next morning I thought for sure that the baby would be dead.. I was wrong. As I opened the box I had her in to look inside it was LOVE AT FIRST.. Staring at me was this tiny creature with this huge yellow mouth WIDE OPEN waiting to be fed.. Months went by and Hercules was an awesome pet… I built a custom cage for Hercules as I wanted to keep her in the Den and I didn’t want to have a “cage” there.. Hercules was the most content bird you could imagine. She would play and play in her cage all day.. She was also allowed her out time everyday and night.. I was happy. One day I noticed that Hercules was breathing strange.. Kinda sounded like a weeze if you ask me.. but Hercules looked fine and was still her old self playing and flying all over the place.. One morning Hercules didn’t come out of her cage.. Hours later we were at the Vet.. The Vet saw a tumor on the top of Hercules’ windpipe… She was suffocating. The operation didn’t go well.. I got the call in the morning that Hercules was dead.. God that made me cry like a baby for DAYS.. You would think that I lost a person in my life the way I cried.. but Hercules was a family member.. and I felt that way about her.. Hercules let me to start thinking about birds again… We got Sammy our Dusky Conure because of the love we had for Hercules.. After we lost Sammy we got Ceasar… and here I am.. so like I said when I started. Hercules is the reason I am here.. True Story…. CD

Post edited by: CeasarsDad, at: 2007/07/10 01:25

Well Dan.. I may be the opinion you are looking to hear.. Certainly it's not to dispute what our other family members have said already.. It's only to point out how I did it raising Ceasar... When we got Ceasar home I also took time off from work.. I spent every minute he was awake with him.. Handling him, talking to him, taking him around the house to show him is new home.. I had LOTS of people come over to see him.. See if Ceasar would step up to all these strangers. I didn't shelter him in any way.. I didn't allow him time to figure out his cage or anything like that.. Today Ceasar is so well adjusted that it's hard to believe that he is the "picky" African Grey you hear so much about.. He stay in his cage and play by himself all day sometimes.. Doesn't bite or scream.. So, what can I say.. I am not disputing the facts our other members pointed out.. But I didn't do it that way and I still have a loving Grey.. There ya have it.. More confusion to wade through..

Hi everyone, as we grow here I find it necessary to give out some responsibilities to help you guys when questions or problems arise. So with this in mind I am appointing Tari as Room Moderator here in "Other Birds" Tari brings incredible knowledge to the subject of African Greys but also Tari is uniquely qualified in so many other species of birds it's incredible.. I can hardly imagine a better choice for this important job.. I have known Tari for sometime now and she is always willing to help anyone. She is a loving caring woman that loves all kinds of life and will be a tremendous asset to this room.. I would like you all to congratulate Tari on this important new job she has. Tari, let me be the first to say "thank you" for what you bring to our family here. I am happy to have you as a friend and look forward to seeing you here for many many MANY years..
