Grey forum members and Amazons;
kins2321@yahoo.com replied to Ray P's topic in Cricket's Amazon Room
Amazons are amazing! We will always miss our Kiki. If you asked me who ruled our MBS... I don't really know. Kiki our Amazon dictated the diet... if she liked it, everyone else tried it. She nuggled our rescue Sunconure and took him literally under her wing. She got bored with Sophie's flying ability and taught Sophie how to fly. That was an amazing day, that I stayed out of. Now Sophie can fly after a decade. I'm tearing up.... as we miss Kiki so much. Nancy -
Greycie is adorable as usual. I'm struggling for feeling sorry for you with the terrible two's! She is adorable to us! LOL Nancy

Stanley keeps trying to get me to let him out
kins2321@yahoo.com replied to Buckeye's topic in The GREY Lounge
Poor Sophie misses the parties we use to have! She was always the " popular one"... would get to " pick" who she wanted to sleep with for the wrestling parties. When I got up... she was always found sleeping on someone and would hush me as they were still sleeping. Nancy -
YIKES! No problems here yet with Sophie. She is 13 now. I agree they are worth the expense. She has always been the cheapest of my animals. Thank you Sophie! Nancy

Just a quick introduction.
kins2321@yahoo.com replied to SeaThreePeeO's topic in Welcome & Introduction Room
Nicola.. I'm bawling over your loss! I can't even imagine! We are all here for you Nancy -
SterlingSL... aw.... the " bird whisperer!" I believe in that... as my oldest son Ryan, is one. He skypes weekly with them but see's them once a year, The moment he walks in the door... they are all over him! Nancy

Sophie will NEVER go to the bottom of her cage! YUCK! ( per sophie). When she wants to dig, or forage, its usually on the carpet Nancy

Slow motion, but there's motion!!!
kins2321@yahoo.com replied to Acappella's topic in The GREY Lounge
Acappella... how exciting! Its like watching a toddler doing their first steps! How does it feel??? Don't hold back! I LOVE when a paront gets to enjoy an accomplishment! Its an amazing feeling. Nancy -
Sanveaz.. so happy you are surviving the terrible two's so well! Some do! I also felt it wasn't so bad. Nancy

As a mama who has MBS ( multi bird syndrome), I'd wait just a little. Do you actually have posession of a three week old baby? If so... you have a ton of work to do being baby's mama. Most greys come home around 16 weeks. This is bonding and feeding time. Your baby won't notice a new companion, nor should they be stressed about sharing you. Socialization IS a major part of their life, and believe me, I took it to the extreme. LOL! Enjoy your baby. If you are gone for long stretches during the day, encourage family members to help you. You will eventually need to work on social skills and companionship, but definitely not right now. Nancy

Always follow your vets advice. If smaller in weight... thats what they are. Nancy

Organic sounds good... but I tend to buy at local farm market. Fruits for a grey, tend to be zero points on weight watchers, as well as zero points for a grey. Focus on protein and veggies. Sophie is liking my grilling. Nancy

Chezron.... Brutus is a master manipulator. What a wonderful bird! Calling out " Sharon". I have complete respect for a bird that knows what buttons to push... a very smart bird! Nancy
-
I got Sophie around two. Said several words, but took off around four with her vocabulary. She is 13 now... continues to learn new words, I think they can learn a very long time! Nancy

I LOVED Ray's post. I have never rewarded with food or treats. If they want to be with you, they will. We always practiced flight with two family members. One to send off... the other to receive. Of course, Sophie loved and trusted two family members to do this. A stick is just fine for the beginning. Nancy

Calling us by name, does mean something! LOL I'm called ROM. Meaning mom. Sophie can't do her m'mssss,, Of course I don't care. I like "rom" better. Nancy
-
Sophie eats and tries anything I can cook.If I can eat it, so can Sophie. As I try to always lose weight, I always think healthy. I'm not a great cook, but Sophie thinks I'm amazing! Think smart. Of course they should not have sauce when doing italian. Always offer veggies... they tend to throw them against the wall, be consistent! Nancy

So You Want A Baby Grey (warning: long and opinionated)
kins2321@yahoo.com replied to Inara's topic in The GREY Lounge
Sterling... we have seen so many posts regarding Gracie. She has so much potential... and truly is a very smart bird. Hang in there...she is a keeper! ( I know you will anyway). Get thru the terrible twos( sending my prayers). It is a tough stage and dealing with a female teenager, is double the work. Nancy -
Don't even think of it! They cannot share a cage. Someone will get hurt! While I have " open cage concept", birds tend to live together, they all were young...less than two. My sunconure, fell in love with a baby Amazon. Kiki the amazon. didn't know better than to tangle with the rescue sunconure. I can't imagine birds over two, sharing a cage. Nancy

Until your bird understands your abscense, understands " the routine", be ready for punishment. Once trust is established and baby understands you are coming home, and yes, you will... be careful. They do learn quickly with routine, but are a little slower with the trust. My son told me the other day " YOU are the most impatient person I have ever met!" He was a little mad at me as I asked him several days to cut the lawn. ( I don't think I was being impatient". But.... maybe I am!} Follow a routine. When you need to go out of town, let bird know, tell when you will be home and that you will call or skype. Sophie LOVES the skyping with my son Ryan in North Carolina. They now do weekly and she is thrilled. Nancy

Its tough regarding toys. Some like chewable toys, educationale two year old toys. All greys are different. Sophie is NOT into toys. Has never liked toys. WE are her toys. What we like, she likes. Any activity we are involved in, she is part of it. As far as dinner, she has her own setting at the table. I WISH she liked toys Nancy

I Think He is Trying to Cheer Me Up!
kins2321@yahoo.com replied to chezron's topic in The GREY Lounge
Chezron... you have been thru alot lately.BUT... you made sure Brutus was happy and healthy, and he understands that! You are a great mama and put his needs first. You will reap the rewards! Nancy -
Thanks Chezron... I know. That was a very nice offer on your part. I wish there was a site that we could all help each other. Maybe a new thread? I would struggle caring for other birds, as my guys can walk out when I am home, may stress a visitor. Maybe a site that has birds located close to each other, with similar parental beliefs. Nancy

Sully"s mom.... Of course you will say " I'm coming!" BE PATIENT!" LOL! A very happy, and secure bird emerging. KUDOS to you! As my girl Sophie loves herself so much, checks herself out in the hallway mirror and talks to herself, I am surprised she doesn't ask us... " do I look ok?" LOL I LOVE a grey trying to boss us humans. I never tire of seeing other greys do it. Nancy

How adorable! Please show us! You know your wife is gonna make you jump forever now, just to see this! LOL! Nancy
