Miss Gilbert has been climbing her mountain, trying to get to the top. I takes a lot of energy to get to the top, but one day she will know it was all worth it and so will you.

WOW 25 bucks, Nice cage.

Nilah looked like she was having a great time. Then can get so excited when they play that they forget how hard they can bite. Play bites are love bites and they can and do become gentler.

Before I go into how Cricket and I built our relationship I would like to share this story again as it tells me that there is a lot going on in that little head. Cricket belonged to my wife`s sister who loved Cricket very much. She had 4 kids and for the 12 years she lived with them there was always at least one going through their know it all teen years and I think her teenagers would tease Cricket and that's what made her what she was. At the same time my wife`s brother also lived in Florida very close to her sister so there were many, many visits between the two of them. In 2010 my brother in law retired, sold their house in Florida and bought a house in W.V not that many miles away from us so started our visits. On my brother in law first visit to our house we started to talk about Cricket as he new her in Florida. He said she was a nasty mean little B**ch and I said no she is not. I took Cricket out of her cage and she went to her favorite spot, my left shoulder and I sat down at the table as he kept telling us how bad she was. Cricket was on my shoulder preening her feathers, she stopped preening looked at my brother in law ,climbed down my arm, walked across the table to where my brother in law was and took a big chunk of skin out of his thumb. The blood was every place and as he called Cricket every four letter word in the book. Cricket turned around and walked back to me ,up my arm to my shoulder and went back to preening like nothing just happened. As I turned to look at Cricket I swear to God I saw a smile on her face. He was one of the people that would tease her over and over. Cricket got her revenge and evened the score. After that day Cricket was never aggressive to him again. Amazon justice. My brother in law would not talk to me for two hours because I could not stop laughing.

My mission is to answer two questions. 1. Can you have a happy home and a happy Amazon ?? 2. How can you have a happy home and a happy Amazon ?? But first, Is there room for a parrot in your life and your life stile ? Remember you have to make the adjustments and not the parrot. Remember time is of the importance. Do you have it to give ?? Don`t expect you parrot to be grateful for all the things you do for it. After all you put in a cage. Are you ready to earn a parrots respect and not the parrot earning yours ?? Can you afford a parrot or Amazon ?? Can you deal with a head strong Amazon In a loving away ?? Do you want a parrot because it can talk ?? No guarantee that a parrot or Amazon will ever talk. If you want something guaranteed to talk than get a radio. If your life stile has no room for a parrot than wait until it dose. To answer the first question. Yes you can have a happy home and a happy Amazon In future post I will share what it takes and how Cricket and I built a relationship that will last a lifetime as Cricket will always be with me. If you ever thought you would never want a Amazon, you may change your mind.

Awe, He is just a baby in a new home, a new cage and a new human. He may see you as a place of comfort where he can feel safe. They grow up so fast and than they become independent. Take some time and just enjoy his company. Make sure he has plenty of toys in his cage so when he is in there he can learn to play on his own. Learn contact calls so if your not in the same room and he wants to know where you are you can do contact calls back and forth and he knows where you are at. That`s a good bonding activity. Just a thing or two that may help.

You can find these at some pet stores. Get the biggest one they have and I like the wing nut type mount best. They are about 5 or 6 bucks as I remember. P.S. They also come in different colors. The one you see was in Crickets cage as Corky does not like blue.

They are so majestic in their appearance. I am in awwwwwwe.

Oh what a lifestyle. I can see Corky living that one. -
OK who is not giving the other enough sugar.

This is what I use as bath tub for my fids. It`s a rabbit litter pan that hangs in the cage so it`s not on the floor so they don`t poop in it.

WAY, WAY back when , when I was in school A good friend of mine had a pet crow that would follow our school bus to school every day and would be at the school bus stop every day after school

I understand how you feel as Cricket and I had our special moments and I miss them so much. Corky and I also have our special moments that we have shared with her all her life. She is a spoiled rotten teen ager now When we first met Corky she was 9 weeks old and it was love at first sight. 6 weeks later she came home with us and we spoiled her rotten and still do.

Yah; The old salt on the birds tail trick. I too was told that when I was kid. To understand meaning is the secret

I want to take this time to thank all my family forum members, my fellow Mods. and Penny our admin. for the many posts and PMs of condolences and Prayers in my loss of Cricket. Your thoughts were a great comfort to me. And Penny the honor you gave Cricket by renaming the Amazon Room. This is why I am a member here and proud to be a moderator of this great forum. Corky was the flying Ace in our house and would follow us from room to room and would always land on our shoulder. Never had to worry about Cricket because once on your shoulder that's where she stayed until you took her off. Yep, I know about opening the door just a little when letting the dogs out.

I think it`s because Cricket was confined to a small cage for so many years and was out of shape and over weight that she never flue much. When she came here I would do every thing for her so she never had to fly.

Hummingbirds--From Birth to Flight Video

My wife hangs her feeders from our porch roof and we watch them as they come to feed even when we are on the porch. -
My fids would wait for the mail-man because they got all the junk mail. I had adding machine rolls, but Corky would grab the end of the paper and take off flying and drag the paper over the house and than laugh.

Corky my CAG lives at the top of her cage. Cricket used every inch of her cage.
