1. I agree with Dee - it is lovely that they are out all of the time and "roaming around" but the time will come when they do need to be in the cage (even if you go shopping or out for dinner). We work full time, so Harvey is in his cage Monday to Friday - as soon as we come home he is out and causing mayhem! At the weekend he gets a lie in and then that's it, mostly out. He goes in his cage no problem and there's plenty for him to do. You will get your routine with your baby - it's early days, and you are learning each other's habits and routines.
2. What excellent news Judy - I am so pleased for you (both)! I am sure that you will work things through with Josey - without having to resort to the collar - fingers crossed xxxxx

4. Supernova wrote: Ha Ha - Judy might have something with iced tea - she never gets any burned thumbs!! Perhaps you should take her lead Bernie and introduce Iced Tea into Britain!!! :woohoo:
5. Check you out - you superstar - I had to look closely - thought tigerlily was swinging in thin air!!! I take it that the thing she is swinging on is the "nut case" Thanks for sharing - don't know if we can associate with you both now that you are celebrities
6. Send the pigeon back - it's gone too far!! It's supposed to be a homing pigeon!!!!
7. I totally agree with Sheila - keep him on the same as the breeder has weaned him on - change things slowly over time. My breeder actually supplied me with a "baby pack" of food - and told me what to add/how much etc to give him. Things can be introduced/changed at a later date - but leave things as they are now.
8. Jules - I've been here for ages and haven't got a scooby what this lot talk about sometimes!!! Like Robin says - get into S.P.E.W - only stupid questions allowed!!!
9. See - told you that a sensible answer would prevail!!!!
10. Well done for adopting an older grey - it's not something a lot of people could do (and if I were to be honest, I don't think it is something I could do). You will get a lot of advice on here from members who have rescued their babies with great results - just hang in there - they will be around soon (we're obviously all in different time zones)
11. Bernie - that was no seagull - it was a magnified green fly on your lens :woohoo:
12. Hi Megan and welcome to the forum. It is very natural that a grey chooses one person as its "favourite". My grey, Harvey, particularly likes me and no matter what my husband and kids do - he still tries to "beak" them - it's not a bite, more a warning. You will just have to persevere in the hope that he will accept more members of the family - although there will only be "one true love". You don't say how long you have had your grey - but perhaps a bit of a background would be helpful.

14. That is absolutely hilarious Lyn - thanks for my evening giggle xx
15. I decided tonight to have a "sneaky beer" whilst Harvey was eating his tea - alas to no avail! But, he has found a new hobbie - keeps him quiet for a while - peeling the label off my beer! The only problem is - I usually drink wine - now, if I sit with that in my hand and swig it from the bottle, is this still acceptable!!!
16. Debandbella wrote: Nope, my husband is only 44 and all the aforementioned are noises I hear a lot!!!!
17. Ha Ha! I can't believe you went and knocked on their door (like I wouldn't have done it too ). I'm not a Face Booker (where on earth do you all get the time!!!) - but good luck on bolstering the 1000 friends before Christmas!
18. They are sooooo adorable - I know where that beak would have been wiped if it were Harvey!! Thanks for your beautiful pictures of your gorgeous little birdies - I'm showing Harvey how you are SUPPOSED to enjoy your misting sessions - instead of the way we have them here!!
19. Hi and welcome, I've only ever bought imported palm nuts (they don't grow too well in the UK)!! We give the whole palm nut to Harvey - they love chewing through the shell, to the stringly flesh and then to the prize - the actual tiny nut - which he sits with for ages chewing and chewing until he gets through it! Your baby probably is throwing it away as it is alien to it and hasn't decided whether it wants it yet. I don't know about the sterilisation, but I would think a damn good scrub and then into the freezer would kill off anything in them. Why don't you go over to the welcome room and introduce yourself and tell us a little about yourself, your bird and your family. Jill x
20. Ha Ha Ha! It was only 6½ hours ago you stepped into the confessional box!! What are you like! Can't wait to see some pictures of your updated mob. Jill xx
21. I mist Harvey at least twice a week with Aloe in a spray, and then once a week he has a shower in the shower cubicle. Harvey has very itchy skin at present as he is moulting and has a lot of pin feathers coming through around his face, breast, in between his "shoulder blades" and I've just discovered that his little tail is now sprouting. It's driving him mad at the minute - but the frequent mistings help enormously.
22. Sorry to say - but the parrot would go before my microwave!!! You're not paranoid Julie - just caring and wanting the best for Beau and Argyle. The microwave was introduced into our lives to make things easier - we all live in a busy world and the microwave assists in speeding up processes (including cooking parrot food)!! When I was a kid there was all of the furore about microwaves and what it can do to you (both through radiation and through the microwaved element of food) - but look at me - I'm fit and healthy and have been a fanatic of microwave jacket potatoes and microwaved baked beans through my student life (there was only the grated cheese that wasn't microwaved)! There are so many things we do to make our homes safe - and I am ultra sure you are doing all necessary - so don't worry about the microwave! PS. My disclaimer is that this is not based on any scientific fact!!!

Post edited by: JillyBeanz, at: 2009/11/04 13:22
23. Ah, poor Bella - look at those two laughing at her!!! Sorry though, I'm going to join in!! That must have been so funny to see - just takes one episode and it sets them off!
24. Thanks Dave - I sort of knew the nutritional value in corn was nil (as it is in humans - as ajudged by, well, let's just not go there!!). I am so pleased about the spinach though - he loves it and would munch on it all day if he could! Thank you, yet again, for your invaluable advice. Jill xxxx
25. If you've gone this far Debbie, and posting in here, you know that Chocolate is coming home with you - what you doing - trying to look to us to say "no, Debbie, don't do it"!! You know it's not going to happen  Can't wait to see some pictures of Chocolate when he's home!!!
