  1. Will somebody give me a nudge when this thing can actually swim! Bernie - you first told us about your boat at the end of August - it's been in dry dock for most of the last two months - any chance of an outing when it doesn't break!! ........waiting in anticipation........

There's nothing wrong with the water in the UK - but we have a water filter/chiller machine and I just fill Harvey's bowls up from there. This isn't due to any ideology about the water system (the pipes here definitely aren't lead), just that the machine is standing next to the sink - nothing more, nothing less.
  3. I know it's not customary to take photos at funerals - but you must have some of with your gay drag queen bearers! I am desperate to see them!!!

Certainly you will be if you follow Lyn's links - you seem to have posted this sort of thing before in the wrong place too - so if you are actually legitimately keen to get to know us - I suggest Lyn's link would be the best start - look forward to meeting you there!
  5. Ah - superb news! I feel like I've been waiting for a new bird too over these past couple of months! At long last Juno is here - I feel I know him so well already!!! I am so looking forward to seeing him!
  6. They are gorgeous pictures of Ben Bernie - that bottom one is a sexy pose and a half! She is beautiful and she knows it!
  7. What can you say! I'll tell you: OBVIOUSLY PAINTED BY A MAN!!!!! :woohoo:
  8. It's your voice that does it! Harvey is sat glued to the screen listening to your soothing voice! Yet again, great video of Emma - love the do, ray me!! Thanks for that, one day - oh one day it might be Harvey!!!
  9. Ha Ha! Great Lyn - Harvey's got a thing about the iron and hoover.....now if they could only use them! Note to David: Clearly YOU don't know how the hoover works!!!
  10. Well, this is exactly the same that happened to us when we went on holiday in the summer. Harvey, at this time, was 7½ months old and would quite happily let all of us handle him (me, my husband and two teenagers). He went to my parents' house for the holidays, where they let him out each day etc and on our return Harvey decided that it was just me he would favour. He wouldn't let my husband, or the kids, go near him. Anyway, fast forward from July - it's not good news, things are about the same. He'll happily fly to my husband and "hang out" with him, but if he tries to stroke him, or touch him in any way he shows aggression. My husband is now getting to the point where he feels he's tried all he can (I think he feels a little rejected) and isn't too bothered about handling Harvey. I don't know the answer - we are persevering, it's not working. I hope my husband doesn't give up though. Anyhow, you are not alone - there's loads in the same boat - I think you just have to give Cybil some space and try gradually to regain her trust. Good Luck xx
  11. Why are we waiting, why are we waiting.......! Stop being selfish Dee - post some pictures!!!!!
  12. I can remember reading a post about crows before - they are nasty things for sure - and are predators of other birds. You obviously did the right thing by returning home - and the signs of the birds dispersing is quite worrying - they were clearly after you two. It's like this with Magpies where I live in the UK - we really have to watch in the summer when we have Harvey in the garden with us.
  13. How exciting! I am sure we all remember the period of waiting and the excitement of collecting our babies - these times are a moment to treasure - which I am sure that you will. It's still very early morning for you over there in the states - but I bet you're up already!!! Can't wait to see this much talked about little chappie!!!
  14. Harvey shows no interest at all in potato chips or human "junk food" but last night I opened a bag of pretzels and he went mad for one. After the intense operation of removing each salt crystal (see what we do for these birds!!) I gave him one. Now, usually it would have been thrown to the floor - but as you can see - I think he was enjoying it! So that's it - now both my beer and my pretzels aren't my own!!!
  15. If food is pickled in vinegar is this harmful to Harvey. I love jalapenos and I buy them ready cut but they are in vinegar (definitely not brine) - would Harvey be able to have anything pickled? I do buy Harvey fresh jalapenos - but when I'm nibbling he always wants one!
  16. Can I just say though - the parrot that died of avian flu was imported from South America - so all in the UK - DON'T PANIC! It didn't get out of quarantine!
  17. Bernie needs support Dutch - I'm sure he'd be over the moon to get another bloke to try and sort out the rowdy forum babes!!!
  18. And we only have one other male member Dutch - so feel free to join!!!
  19. Gosh - thanks for that Julie - I was especially interested in the bit about Kris' story when he says that the under 5s are most at risk - this is something I definitely didn't know.
  20. Well folks - that's it - end of the week, start of the F.A.R.Ting! We've got a couple of things to celebrate, which I shall list below: 1. I'm off work all next week!! 2. Dee may be collecting Juno this evening!! So - add to it if you've got something you'd like to drink to!!!! FART ON COMRADES!!! :woohoo:
  21. I wondered about this too with avian flu - but was reassured that domestic birds couldn't catch avian flu - but I have read today an interesting article (below) about turkeys catching swine flu - which is quite worry I think: http://www.healthzone.ca/health/newsfeatures/swineflu/article/712918--turkeys-catch-swine-flu-at-ontario-farm
  22. This is the best video I've seen of them in the wild - so beautiful to see such a flock - but gives great understanding of why Harvey needs to be glued to the side of my face 24/7. I especially liked the close up of the grey eating the berries - so beautiful to see. Thank you so much for this - I'm saving it - I love it x
  23. Ha Ha! Great instructions - but what a waste of chicken soup just to get your sunny to have a bath! Nobody seems to have answered number 13 though, so I shall!! NO WAY WHATSOEVER!!!! :woohoo: Thanks Robin - you've filled my lunchtime with giggles!!!
