  1. In live chat a couple of weeks ago I was talking to She about destructive parrots. She was telling me how lucky I was that Harvey hadn't "destroyed" anything. We were talking about door frames, doors, keyboards and anything else easily "getattable" by our beloved babies. I pride myself on my home - I hated the kids making a mess and so I got me a parrot (why didn't you all stop me)!! Anyway - Harvey doesn't break anything because he's with me all the time he is out and my beady eye is constantly on him......or so I thought! I've just set the desk up the way I normally do when I'm on the computer - his lovely snuggly blanket, his foot toys, some nibbles, a beer (whoops, no that's mine) and he was quite happily playing along. I have just turned round and he has bitten the most important key off my two month old mobile phone (therefore my contract has 22 months to run)!! Moral of the story - easy really - just lie, pretend everything is broken already - or you'll just look like a fool like me!!! So, Sheila - you were quite correct!!!!
  2. This really has to stop! I've just realised that EVERY THURSDAY it is me who opens proceedings in T..T. I know our founding members are a little behind in the old hours stake and therefore I would be expected to drink earlier - but here I am at 16.23 with a beer in my hand! What is the world coming to! TOOT on I say! :woohoo:
  3. Can you name three consecutive days without using the words Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday, Friday, Saturday or Sunday?
  4. There is no "e" - I've been right through the alphabet and there's only an "e" missing - is this the answer? PS. I've really got to admit I sat here for 19 minutes looking at it before I tried that one!
  5. Ah bless him, at least the eye isn't causing him any distress or discomfort. Great news on his biting - little by little you will get there! Can't wait to see some pictures of Scooter on his new stand
  6. Oh well, it's been so glamorous! Monday I cleaned my own carpets, Tuesday I cleaned my mam and dad's, yesterday went to Newcastle to do some Christmas shopping, ended up with nothing and today I've been to the local petshop for a new toy for Harvey - it's great - a big block of wood, and there's seed stuff in the middle - chewtastic! Oh, and the owner's Macaw was there and I gave him a big kiss too (the Macaw, not the owner)!!!
  7. That's going to be great Dee - indestructible! Juno (and I'm sure Java) will love it - especially when you get everything on it! Can't wait to see the

  9. # 15 fallen tree trunks.
  10. No way! Ha Ha! Earl was using his "man bag". Perhaps he doesn't realise his crop will hold that food for later - and thinks that hiding it will stand him with more chance of a late night feed! Just check he's not getting those magpie tendencies - you may find some of your jewelery hidden under there one day!!!
  11. Hi CuteMandaPanda (what a great name)! I totally agree with Lyn - it's very early days for you and your baby and he has obviously grown into the habits you describe with his previous owners. It's frustrating when things don't go your way and they don't want to be your friend straight off - you expect them to, I know, just like a puppy or cat and their level of acceptance. Time and patience is of the essence. It might take a little time for him to share his world with you - but when that moment arrives you will be the proudest parront in the world. Karma to you for rehoming a grey xx
  12. Hi Ishmael - lovely for you to join us. You are so lucky that your baby rolls over for you - what a sign of love and trust! You definitely can ask questions without feeling stupid here - I'll have already asked them - I am the Queen of stupid questions!! Look forward to seeing some photos of your TAG.
  13. How silly of me not to have informed you of my ongoings this week! I AM NOT AT WORK!!! :woohoo: That's enough - it says it all!!!!!
  14. Part time film producer too Lyn - your talents are endless!!! What an absolutely fab video - She is definitely a top gun! I was just wondering if Tom himself was on the other side of that curtain, helping Alfie take off (yum yum!!) I agree with Lyn - there's nothing more beautiful and amusing that a flighted grey - you find them everywhere - anytime, any place anywhere - perhaps I should have called Harvey "Bacardi"!!
  15. Harvey's favourite target is my toes too - he is flighted and thinks that if he aims for my toes he'll get his own way! It kills! And he does get his own way!!! Bloody parrots!
  16. Ah - that's so lovely to hear Robin - perhaps two negatives do make a positive! How lovely it is to hear that GBG is making those tiny steps - as I've said a squillion times before - he is one lucky little chickie to have such a wonderful lead as yourself (and obviously Dixie). Keep up the good work Dixie xxxx
  17. With that sweet voice of yours! No swear words from that sweet mouth! It's like something from the wizard of oz!!!! We've all heard your gorgeous tones and love them!
  18. Actually - brings back a childhood memory! My mam used to make cottage pie - but I didn't like mince - so she used to grate cheese on the top of the mashed potato - pop it back in the oven and rebranded it "cheesy mince casserole" HOW STUPID WAS I !!!!!
  19. They sound delish! Also - very medicinally sound - the figs are good......well, you eat enough and I guess you know already
  20. I think baby greys are like human babies - you can't wait for your human baby to walk, talk and grow up and then when they can, you want them to shut up and stop moving around!! Mmm, the two are possibly related....! Dan - Harvey is 10 months old and more than welcome to come over to yours - he'll sharp make you thankful for what you've got!!!
  21. # 13 giraffes eating all
  22. Ha Ha! Bernie is getting the blame Transatlantically! I love it!! Hey Bernie - have you ever been cited on a divorce paper before? The times a coming!!!
  23. Harvey, like all of your babies, is picky about what he eats - and probably 90% of it ends up on the floor! One thing he really likes to throw out is carrot. It doesn't matter if it is cooked or raw. He'll eat it from his spike in his cage - but put it in his bowl and NO WAY! This morning whilst preparing his fruit and veg I peeled the carrot, as usual, with the vegetable peeler - then I thought - hey, why don't I carry on with the strips, instead of dicing the carrot. HEY PRESTO! It's not carrot - it's something far more interesting and tasty and these ribbons now have huge holes in them! So, the moral of the story is - if it doesn't look fancy, it aint gonna get eaten!!!
  24. Ah Debbie, don't worry, I am sure that Chocko will settle in just nicely and will realise what a great asset you will be to her life. People don't realise that greys, or indeed any other animal, may be rehomed due to all sorts of different circumstances, not just the fact people can't be bothered with them etc. I am sure, in time, Chocko will realise that it's all for the best
  25. Debbie - Harvey did that in his first week with us - luckily we were at home! We now have quick links through the handle things and to date he hasn't managed them!
