1. Right! Today's the day I run riot - no Judy to watch me, Janet didn't want me - therefore I am alone - to do what I want! I have worked it out that I have a full 14 hours to cause mayhem and destruction without Judy slapping me down!!! Oooh, what can I do first.....
2. Great video Bernie - when you finally come through and give what you promise it's worth it!!! I have picked on you constantly for a couple of weeks now and I am sorry - please forgive me!!! PS. I drive a bit like that!!!!
3. Video shnideo! The latest excuse is that YouTube takes forever to upload. I will have died of old age before we see that boat again!!! :woohoo:
4. I've just had a look and they are all running around the cage! They are just so cute! When you do get owners for them - ensure that their CV, picture and criminal record is displayed here - we'll decide who can have one of "our" babies!!
5. It's my first Christmas with Harvey (who is a fully flighted nearly one year old CAG). I have been worried (since about July!!) about how to keep him safe. I've been doing a lot of reading and came across this article - which has some good tips in it: Christmas is a season of joy and cheer, but the festivities can turn tragic for bird owners that don't make provisions for their pet's safety. To help make sure that your pet has a merry holiday this year, follow the easy safety tips outlined below as you plan your Christmas celebration. Making sure that your pet stays safe doesn't take a lot of effort, but can go a long way in preventing tragedy during the Christmas season. Keep an eye on ornaments. Birds are naturally attracted to things that glitter, shine, sparkle, and blink -- so it's no wonder that many Christmas decorations draw their attention. Make sure you keep your bird away from any lights or decorations, and above all, the Christmas tree. A solid bite to a wire or light bulb can pose a risk of burns, electrocution, or both, and fragile glass ornaments along with their sharp wire hangers can cause cuts, scratches, and puncture wounds. Keeping your bird away from these items greatly reduces his risk of injury during the holidays. Beware of ribbons, bows, and gift wrap. Many holiday gift wrapping materials are brightly colored and shiny, which, like the ornaments, makes them a beacon for curious beaks. At first, many owners might think that it's okay to let their birds play with and shred these papers and bows, but the inks used to print them could potentially be toxic to your bird. Additionally, some ribbons and bows have the ability to get caught around your bird's neck, legs, or toes. This can cause serious injury or even death, so it's imperative that your pet be kept away from all the pretty presents. Don't Share the Holiday Feast. While many times sharing "people" food with birds is actually encouraged, many holiday dishes include sugar, spices, and seasonings that can potentially be toxic to birds. To make sure that your bird doesn't ingest something hazardous, prepare a seperate meal for your bird or opt for a high quality commercial diet. Keep tabs on the Christmas "Spirits" If you or your guests plan to indulge in any alcoholic beverages, make sure that your bird does not have access to them. Alcohol can be deadly to birds, and curious parrots have been known to sneak a drink out of unattended glasses. Keep your pet safe by confining him to an area away from the festivities. Pay attention to stress levels. Birds can get stressed pretty easily, and the holidays can make it worse by exposing them to sights, sounds, and people that they are not accustomed to. Consider leaving your bird caged in a quiet, comfortable, and secure area of your home until the party winds down. This will help make sure that your celebration does not cause undue stress or discomfort for your feathered friend. While these tips will go a long way in keeping your bird safe throughout the holidays, no amount of prevention is a substitute for good old fashioned supervision. When your bird is out of his cage, always make sure to keep a close eye on what he is getting into. Always paying attention to your bird's whereabouts and actions is the best way to keep your bird safe not only during the holidays, but throughout the year -- and for the many years that you and your pet will spend together. Stay safe, and Happy Holidays!
6. I know we're not supposed to keep Judy updated until tomorrow - but I haven't seen her today either - so here's the first installment: Bernie has been on the lake with his boat today. Reckons he has some film footage of it which he is going to upload to YouTube. I have now been talking to him for over an hour - no signs of the video - reckons it keeps crashing. He's also been telling me of other "homemade videos" but I'm not going into that
7. Ha Ha! You're probably right Janet - he's sitting there plotting world domination!
8. Ha Ha! You have so many little pictures - I think they are great!!
9. He's back out now - very sheepish and loving - wanting kisses and everything!!! He's sitting on the top of the door preening himself and chirping away. He's a little so and so! Sitting there like nothing's happened!!
10. Ha Ha! The one on the left definitely isn't me - I wouldn't part with any of my drink!!!!
11. You know what gets me about your photo? YOU ARE IN SHORTS!!! Then again, I could wear shorts and I might get hypothermia in about 10 minutes!!! Great shot of you and Yoshi - glad you had a great time and you've socialised her a bit more - you'll have to invite them all over to yours next time!!
12. # 20 very long tale. # 1 Sleigh bells were
13. On the whole Harvey is a really good boy - but just before he would not stay downstairs and kept flying upstairs (nobody up there to supervise) so I kept bringing him back down, placing him back on his playstand. He did this 5+ times, with me going upstairs to retrieve him (it's a quarter landing type of stairs and he can turn to go up them, but has never worked out how to get down alone). I decided that I'd had enough and was about to return him to his cage when he flew off. This isn't uncommon - I've chased him round the house before - by boy was he going for me - he has broken skin - but I'm not bleeding and it took me a good few minutes to get him in his cage - enduring numerous "bites" which I just had to bravely take. He's now sulking in his cage and knows he's been naughty - he is NEVER in his cage when we are home - so he knows I'm not tolerating it! 10 days before he is one year old! What happened to the terrible twos!!!
14. Hi JJ - Welcome to our family. You certainly will meet many grey lovers here and I look forward to hearing more about you and yours.
15. Ah, they are lovely! The one where baby is peeking from under the towel is gorgeous. Thanks for sharing these
16. I am especially interested in offering Harvey different foodstuffs, and I always read the food threads. I have sat here for months reading about how some of you feed your baby egg. Well, I've tried scrambled egg probably about 20 times - and it is thoroughly rejected. I've decided to have "dippy eggs and soldiers" (soft boiled egg and cut toast slices) for my breakfast and was sitting at the kitchen table. The fiend flew in, landed on the back of the opposite chair and then casually sauntered over the table, took the "lid" of the egg and started eating the egg white that was in there! So I scooped a little more out of my own egg and offered him this - gobbled it all up! YAY! I've found a way Harvey will eat eggs!!!! :woohoo:

Post edited by: JillyBeanz, at: 2009/12/06 10:51
17. Ha Ha Ha Ha! I feel unloved!!! Nobody wants me!!! Actually - that reminds me of a great song we used to sing as kids: Nobody likes me, everybody hates me, I'm going down the garden to eat worms. Long thin slimy ones, short fat stubby ones, gooey, gooey, gooey, gooey worms. Well, you bite off their heads and you suck out their juice and you throw their skins away. Nobody knows how I survive on a hundred worms a day. Ole! Guess that's what I'll have to do since nobody wants me - it's going to be great with the water and bread on offer!!!

Post edited by: JillyBeanz, at: 2009/12/06 10:47
