1. Welcome to our family! You are faced with such a dilemma - but as Janet says - only you can decide what you need to do. There are pros and cons to each of your choices. I, personally, would never want to have the responsibility to wean a baby (and luckily here in the UK it's against the law for a breeder to sell and unweaned bird). They will both have absolutely different training issues and needs. You don't say why this lady is giving up her grey - but I would look into that too. Good luck - keep us posted
2. Right Bernie - I think the girls have given you enough tips for how to film this boat whilst alone! If you don't have a tripod - then you could duct tape the video cam round your head - that'll hold it tightly!!
3. Hey Howardine - that bird jumps from hand to hand! That's quite flashy!!!!
4. Ha Ha! Great picture Janet!!
5. Ha Ha - I'd pay to see you try and "stuff" a fox in a bag!!! Right - the pillow talk in my house is incredible! Credit has to go to my husband who worked this one out for me (at 22.45 last night, whilst reading the riddles on my phone!!) Firstly take the chicken across, return and take the bag of corn across - BUT - take the chicken back over the river and put it back down. Then pick the fox up and take it across the water (thus leaving the fox and the corn on one side). Return across the river, pick the chicken up and take that over - Job's a good 'un - all three (and the farmer) over the river unscathed!
6. Ha Ha Judy - he knows I'm harder than him - I'm from up North - he's a Southern softie!!! I tell you Janet - I might go down and fix the boat if I have to witness many more excuses for Bernie's poor attendance at the boating lake!!!
7. Ha Ha Dan - I just read it as I picture it - I pictured 32 inches tip to tip - not just one wing!!!! See, that's the women's practical mind in me
8. Well, that's not the answer - but it fits!!! I shall give you it and tell you that the original answer was a riddle!
9. What fantastic news Lyn - forget the summer and solider on (and tell the bugger to chew her food)!!! I have some comments, following on from yours: 1) Wow - lovely length. 2) WHAT A WUSS!!!!! Mind you, I was afraid of my cockatiel - he had a great bite to him!!!!
10. I thought it was chasing a live goldfish - check out it's paw - it's orange!!
11. It's a little bit rain! I am sure your skin is waterproof!!!! Anyway - it's only "light drizzle" - you want to try living up here!!
12. How dare Dave - blokes!! Had he not been too lazy he would have stopped Charlie or Keeko (very hard to place the blame if both beaks were attached). I entirely blame him for this whole catastrophe! Oh how I love having painted walls - a touch up is easier than a paper job!!
13. Envelope I am what I am, but if you know what I am, I am not longer what I am. Guess, what am I?
14. Never mind the boat - check the signature!! You artistic creature! Okay - so Janet and Judy are taken in by you - I'm not - I still want solid proof!!!
15. I agree with both Sheila & Pat about spaying - it is for the good of the cat population - you can't control an outdoor cat and their urges
16. Kidney beans are fatal if not correctly cooked. You can boil both chick peas and kidney beans. All of the veg that you describe you can feed raw to your baby. I don't know about parsley - but it's not something I readily use (unless it's dried and in a jar!!!). Nice picture - would like to see her now
17. And the same to you Bernie - and everyone else who celebrates Christmas - or those who don't and just make the most of the time off they get due to Christian celebrations

19. Ho Ho Ho! He's now asserting his authority! He is telling you "I'm a big boy now"! Harvey did exactly the same thing (he's just short of 1 year old) a few months ago - the independence in them seems to happen overnight! He'll settle once he realises nobody is particularly interested in him! I promise it does get ( a little) better!!
20. I thought that there was an egg a brewing - those two have been in that nest box a lot lately!!! The pictures in the cage are soooo cute - they are getting so much tougher and cuter!!
21. Not offensive at all Dave - absolutely 100% true! I too am not a cat person - but cannot stand any type of "adjustments" to family pets to make them more acceptably jigsaw like - to fit into the homes of their captors, rather than their captors changing their lifestyles to accommodate their animals. It's quite rightly as you put it and boils down to one crucial word - RESPECT. Karma to you for such a powerful piece (of sense).
22. I know! I thought the same thing primarily!! Not a stupid question at all. Like Judy says - they don't try to eat the bone - they merely slice it for the marrow - eat the marrow and throw away the splinters - whereas a dog would indeed swallow the splinters and remnants of the bone.
23. I went on holiday for two weeks in July and left Harvey with my parents. They were not confident they were going to be able to let him out and get him back in (he's a terror with other people) and therefore I posted on here and asked what effects there would be if I had him in his cage for two weeks - the good people of this forum told me that he would be a bit grumpy, but have no ill effects. Anyway - my parents did manage to get him out a couple of times a day, which I am eternally grateful for - but he was only very very young - I doubt next year they'll get him back in - and he will spend all of his time in his cage. It's a dilemma though - board him for the company, or stay at home for the familiarity!
24. My scales are my regular electronic food scales - the stainless steel bowl lifts off and there is a "perch" underneath - Harvey steps up on this no bother! He weighs between 440 and 445g after his big morning bomb Great picture of Misty though Steve - the attraction of a pyrex jug and water eh!!

Post edited by: JillyBeanz, at: 2009/12/01 20:38
25. Actually - I have never thought what people in Africa call "African Greys". It's like here in the UK - we don't call British Bulldogs, British Bulldogs - they are Bulldogs! What a lovely thought though - the "Secret Bird" ~ Harvey can't speak yet, but I'll have to be careful in future
