  2. I made the worst mistake of my life last summer with regards to Harvey. I had him on his Aviator and me and my husband decided to drive to my parents house (three miles away). Harvey was absolutely fine until the car moved. He went ballistic. He was flapping, biting, clawing and was going to cause both harm to himself and me (he was biting really hard). So panicked we turned straight round and drove home. This is something I will never, ever do again. Definitely, definitely put Isaac in a carrier - Harvey is so calm in his and just sits there and enjoys the ride. <br><br>Post edited by: JillyBeanz, at: 2010/02/25 20:43
  3. I have been reading about the parrots in the rain forests in Brazil (Amazon). I have stumbled across the most fantastic video of Amazon Parrot parental care - in the wild. Hope you enjoy it:
  4. That must be absolutely hilarious to witness! Nilah is so clever ~ she must be an absolute joy to have. She's definitely just slipped in with the rest of the family and is quite at home!
  5. Now that the Spring is nearly upon us I was going to start visiting the gardens centres. I checked to see which plants were acceptable for the use around Harvey (both inside and outside the home). I was absolutely astounded at the amount of plants available that were detrimental to Harvey's health. I found them on this web page: http://www.plannedparrothood.com/plants.html There are also a number of safe products listed too.

It's safer for him and me. You don't have to have Isaac out the whole time you are home - for instance - I have just been telephoning some companies about some furniture I've ordered - it's taken 45 minutes and Harvey was put in his cage - he's out now - all's good. It's not cruel to put them in their cage - they can't expect to be with you 24/7 - and by giving him all the cage out time he wants will make it more difficult when you leave him.
  7. What great news! Whatever you two are doing is working!! So, Spock - you know who to thank for feeling a little better don't you!
  8. What great fun! Mocha's obviously enjoying this and treating it as play too! Great to watch
  9. Elvenking wrote: Swat him like a fly before he lands! I don't let Harvey on my head, and if he does get there as soon as he lands I remove him. He can happily fly to my shoulder or my lap, but not my hand. It's a personal preference - but I'm not entirely sure why anyone would want to leave their parrot on their head  If you have a flighted bird, then something you will have to accept is that he flies! He will follow you all over the house, he will want to be with you. You are Isaac's chosen one and he'll want to be with you (Harvey's currently sitting on my forearm whilst I type)! It's great through when you are in another part of the house and you call them - and they come to you - it's a pleasure to see
  10. Well done Julie! See, my Ds really did stand for dunce after all!!!
  11. Madonna Guy Ritchie had something to do with her She starred in a film depicting the life of Eva Peron She travels to foreign countries to add to her brood
  12. Sunlight in certain parts of the world (especially here in the UK) is hard to come by! We have to resort to supplementation and UV lighting! Here's Dave's very useful information on vitamins derived from sunlight: http://www.greyforums.net/forums/health-room/157511-uvb-lightingits-importance.html Hope it helps!
  13. Great game Bernie x Richest man in the world, inventor of our most famous computer package - lucky for you lot he did, or I wouldn't be able to communicate with you all!!!! Roger Bannister Quite a good runner Was inspired by the 1948 Olympics 6 May 1954 was his most famous triumph

  15. Hi Loving Grey ~ clearly you sell cages for a living - but how about starting your own thread and telling us whether you have a parrot/thinking about getting a parrot and a little more about yourself!
  16. Enjoyed both Quentin Tarantino Films of Kill Bill - but wouldn't sleep at night if Jasper were my Amazon....
  17. Harvey has one about once a month - not for it's nutritional value, as I know that greys don't need it for that - but just for the sheer joy he gets from turning one to dust! My cockatiel of 17 years always had one too - and nothing adverse happened to him. I have also bought toys with cuttlefish as part of the toy too - so I would have thought that the parrot pet industry would be using safe material (one would hope)!! Don't take away the cuttlefish - it's my bit of peace and quiet
  18. Hi Pat ~ Go to the "Photo Album" tab at the top of the page - I believe that's yours at the front! http://www.greyforums.net/component/option,com_zoom/Itemid,99999999/page,view/catid,1/PageNo,1/key,0/hit,1/

  21. What a lovely picture of your two birdies together! I definitely would fancy the little one in a fight Those first couple of months are magic - the developmental stage - it just passes too quickly. Good to hear that Isaac is enjoying his veggies - battle's won!

    micro chip.

I chose not to get Harvey chipped - exactly for the reasons detailed by Dave. I can't see that anyone round here would take the time and effort to take a "bird" to the police station/vets to get a bird checked out. Dogs/cats yes, they are more common - but the average chap in the UK wouldn't give a hoot about a grey bird up in the tree that looks like a pigeon. It would be you looking for it that would make an escaped bird come to light - not the fact that Mr Anonymous found it and thought he would try and find it's owners. I know Janet (luvparrots) had Ana Grey chipped whilst "awake" and not under GA - I'm sure she'll offer you advice if that's the road you decide to take.
  23. Ha Ha! I know what you mean about stuff being thrown on the floor! I would hate to add it all up Summer! Thing is - they are too clever for their own good - I laugh when Harvey picks out the bits he doesn't want and only eats what he wants to! How old is Shaka Zulu now? He might just be trying to assert his authority with you? Yup - the scales are a must - I have simple food scales, which didn't cost the earth - but are very accurate - I weight Harvey at least once a week - just to keep track. Keep us updated

  25. Oh, that's sounding really like Willis is picking up! It's like kids isn't it - whatever they'll eat - give them it!!! Good wishes and thoughts from me xxx
